Coopertown Police Laurence Dennis Chief Resigns

COOPERTOWN TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Coopertown is once again without a police chief after the current Chief, Laurence Dennis, resigned Tuesday afternoon.

According to Coopertown Mayor Glen Guyor, Dennis submitted his resignation around 2:30 pm Tuesday afternoon and the resignation was announced at the City’s meeting Tuesday evening. The resignation comes about four months after Coopertown Alderman Lucus Decker expressed concerns about the chief, though no action was taken at the time. MORE

Dennis became Police Chief back in August of 2015 following the announcement of another chief who backed out at the last minute. MORE

Now the city of Coopertown will once again begin the recruiting process of finding a new police chief.

“We wish Laurence Dennis the best in his future endeavors and we thank him for his service with the town of Coopertown.” Glen Guyor, Coopertown Mayor.

In the interim, Sergeant Tyler Hayley will be the acting Police Chief, Guyor said.
