Dale Covington Of Cross Plains Dies In Fatal Crash, He Was 60
Park City, KY (June 11, 2017) (Smokey Barn News) – On Sunday Kentucky State Police in Bowling Green responded to a single vehicle injury crash. The crash occurred in the northbound side of Interstate 65 near the 50 mile marker around 4:18 PM. MAP
The preliminary investigation indicated that Dale Covington (60) of Cross Plains, TN, driving a 2007 Chevrolet pickup, was traveling northbound on I-65 when for an unknown reason he went off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then struck a guardrail end and overturned, landing upside down against a sign post.
Covington was pronounced dead at the scene by the Barren County Coroner’s Office. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision, according to Kentucky State Police.
The investigation is still ongoing and being led by Trooper Jonathan Johnson. The Cave City Fire Department, Barren County EMS, and Barren County Coroner also responded to the scene. No other details are available for release at this time.

Dale Aaron Covington was born October 27, 1956 in Gallatin, TN. Dale was 60 years old and a resident of Cross Plains, TN.
According to his online obituary, Covington was a heavy equipment operator and a member of the Cross Plains United Methodist Church.
Covington’s wife, Tammy Covington is the city recorder for Cross Plains, TN. They were married in 1991.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Yates Cave located at 4834 Yates Cave Rd in Cross Plains, TN from 1:00 – 4:45 pm.
Graveside services will follow at 5 pm at Cross Plains United Methodist Church.
