Driver Critical After Crash In Springfield News Year’s Eve

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A New Year’s Eve accident near Springfield has left the driver in critical condition.

The crash occurred on Old Hwy 431 between Palestine Rd and Bridges Rd around 9pm. MAP

According to officials at the scene, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole and a tree with enough force to eject the driver.

The driver was transported to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville in critical condition.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol, the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department, Robertson County EMS and Payne Chevrolet Towing all responded to the crash.

As far as a cause of the crash, the THP is leading the investigation. According to their preliminary report, 22-year-old Deiontae Wilson, of Springfield TN, driving the 2011 Nissan Altima, was traveling south on Old Highway 431 when, according to the THP’s investigating Troper, Wilson failed to keep in his lane of travel causing the vehicle to cross the center-line. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole before striking a large tree. The vehicle came to rest in the roadway facing east.”

Wilson is facing numerous charges that include: DUI 1st, Driving On A Revoked License, Seatbelt and Roadways Laned For Traffic.

As far as Mr. Wilson’s condition, according to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Mr. Wilson has been upgraded from critical to stable condition.
