Driver Goes Airborne Off Ramp In Rollover Crash In White House

WHITE HOUSE, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Police say a driver is lucky to be alive after an accident on Highway 76 sent their vehicle airborne off the back of a ramp of a parked tractor-trailer flatbed Thursday morning.

The crash occurred on Hwy 76 at Lone Oak Drive near the AutoZone in White House, Tennessee, the first call coming into 911 at 8:35 a.m.  LOCATION OF CRASH

According to Officer Jake Hunter with the White House Police Department, the driver, traveling west on Highway 76 towards Springfield from Kroger, looked down at her dashboard for a moment and when she looked up her vehicle was airborne.

According to Officer Hunter, the driver failed to notice the parked tractor-trailer flatbed, which had its ramp down for offloading equipment for a construction project nearby.  Officer Hunter told Smokey Barn News that the vehicle was properly marked with traffic cones and the tractor-trailer was not in violation of any laws.

Officer Hunter says, after going airborne, the vehicle began to roll. Astonishingly, the driver was not injured and was able to walk away from the scene. “It was a miracle she survived, let alone walked away without any injuries or with very minor injuries,” Officer Hunter emphasized.

Robertson County EMS, the White House Fire Department, and the White House Police Department responded to the scene. The westbound lanes and the center turn lane of Highway 76 were closed for about an hour and a half while police investigated and White House Public Works cleaned the road of spills and debris.

Despite the unusual nature of the crash, the driver was not ticketed.
