CROSS PLAINS, TENNESSEE: Smokey Barn News) – On Thursday, April 24, East Robertson High School hosted a mock crash demonstration organized by the Cross Plains Fire Department and Robertson County EMS. The event was supported by the Cross Plains Police Department, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Austin & Bell Funeral Home. The purpose of the demonstration was to illustrate the consequences of impaired and distracted driving ahead of prom and graduation season.

The simulation depicted the aftermath of a serious vehicle crash caused by drunk and distracted driving, giving students a firsthand look at how emergency crews respond in such situations.

“As someone who has lost a dear friend due to drunk driving, this demonstration hit very close to home,: said Cross Plains Mayor Marlene Graves, who attended the event. “I hope that it helped put into perspective for the students that one decision can be life-altering and can be taken away in an instant. My hope is the demonstration reached the students and the next time they make the right choice if in such a situation. I want to thank Tommy Jackson and his crew for their dedication to keeping the community safe.”
