UPDATED

GOODLETTSVILLE/RIDGETOP TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – As of 8 pm Friday, Hwy 41 just east of Ridgetop Tennessee remained closed as Metro Nashville Police investigate a fatal head-on crash that claimed the life of a Greenbrier man. It would be 9 pm before the investigation ended and Hwy 41 reopened.

The crash occurred on Hwy 41 just past Bakers Station Market/Old Springfield Pike, the first call coming into 911 at 3:50 pm. Jurisdictionally, the crash was positioned about 1.5 miles from the Robertson/Davidson County line just past Ridgetop City Limits. LOCATION OF CRASH

NEW: The Metro Nashville Poice Department’s (MNPD) Fatal Crash Team is now releasing more information regarding the crash. Following their on-scene investigation, officers determined that a Volkswagen Beetle, driven by Jurgis Juodenas, 75, of Greenbrier, was traveling north on Springfield Highway when a southbound Kia Sorento, driven by Charles Holt, 58, of Springfield, crossed into the northbound lane and collided with the Volkswagen. Juodenas died at the scene.

Holt received minor injuries and was not transported. Both men were wearing their seatbelts. According to MNPD, Holt told officers that the actions of another vehicle caused him to swerve and that he didn’t remember anything afterward.

Why the Kia crossed into the Volkswagen’s path remains under investigation. At the conclusion, officers will present their findings to the District Attorney’s Office.
