ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating following a fatal I24 crash that claimed one life Friday morning.

The crash occurred on I24 West between Hwy 49 and Maxey Rd around 6:20 Am. LOCATION OF CRASH According to Robertson County EMS, one person died in the crash.

The THP is now releasing the name of the driver that died in the crash. He is identified as 24-year-old Zackary Logan Zamot.

UPDATE:

According to the THP’s preliminary report of the crash, Zamot, behind the wheel of a 2018 BMW M3, was traveling west on I-24 near mile marker 18 when he ran off the right side of the road, crossed over the center line, and ran off the left side of the road before striking a tree in the center island. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Kelcey Smith of Clarksville Tennessee witnessed the crash. Kelcey told Smokey Barn News that Zamot’s M3 was coming up behind her when he went onto the right shoulder passing her and one or two tractor-trailers.

Before coming off the shoulder, Kelcey believes his vehicle made light contact with a guardrail on the right which may have sent his vehicle out of control and across all lanes of travel before exiting the road on the left. After leaving the road, Zamot’s vehicle went airborne and struck a tree. Kelcey stopped to see if she could help but it was apparent that the young man had not survived the crash. “Worst accident I ever seen,” said Smith.

The THP’s report made no mention of impairment. Zamot was wearing safety restraints, the report said.
