Fire Destroys Orlinda Area Home Friday Evening

ORLINDA, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – An Orlinda area home has been classified as a total loss following a fire that broke out Friday evening. The home is located in the upper northeastern corner of Robertson County. Though the residence carried a Portland address, the home fell within the Orlinda city fire department’s jurisdiction, the first call coming into 911 at 6:07 pm. LOCATION OF FIRE

The Orlinda Fire Department, Cross Plains Fire Department, and the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department all responded to the scene. When crews arrived, the home, estimated to be almost a 100-year-old, was already fully engulfed. According to initial reports, no one was home when the fire started and no injuries were reported, however, officials tell Smokey Barn News that a cat was lost in the fire..

The home, located on Groves Cemetery Road near Byram Chapel Road, sustained heavy fire, structural, and water damage. Two responding agencies indicated that the home will likely be classified as a total loss.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, one official at the scene indicated the fire may have started on the back porch and spread into the attic. That observation was made prior to a formal investigation. At this time, the fire has not been classified as suspicious and is believed to be accidental.

The home was occupied by several individuals—at least three or four—though the exact number of residents has not been confirmed.

According to the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency, the family has been connected with the American Red Cross for assistance, as the home is no longer inhabitable.

In addition to the three fire departments, Robertson County EMS, Rehab 83, and the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency also responded to the scene.
