Flooded Roads Across Robertson County: Officials Urge Caution
ROBERTSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Heavy rainfall has already left numerous roads across Robertson County underwater, and more rain is on the way. Emergency officials are urging residents to use extreme caution when traveling, as flooded roads can be more dangerous than they appear.
Chance Holmes, Director of the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency, is asking drivers to avoid flooded areas, even if the water seems shallow. “If you see standing water and aren’t sure you can make it, turn around. Don’t risk it,” Holmes advised.
Flooded roads can hide significant dangers. The pavement underneath may be washed away, and water depth is often deceptive. Even if a road looks passable, water can quickly stall a vehicle or, in worse cases, sweep it away. In these situations, emergency crews are forced to perform water rescues, putting additional lives at risk.
With more rain expected, drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, avoid low-lying areas, and never attempt to cross a flooded roadway. “The simple rule remains: Turn Around, Don’t Drown,” Homes said.
