Governor Lee: Hair Salons, Barbers Can Reopen Next Week

ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) –Governor Bill Lee has announced today during a teleconference with members of the Tennessee General Assembly that hair salons and barbershops in ALL but 6 counties in Tennessee will be able to open next week (Wednesday, May 6th) under the guidance issued by Tennessee’s COVID-19 Unified Command.

The governor stated that health departments in Knox, Shelby, Madison, Davidson, Hamilton and Sullivan counties will develop their own strategies for reopening.

Gov. Lee stated that opening these businesses at the beginning of May was his original plan. The most recent order from the Governor had suggested these businesses stay closed until the end of May, however Lee told lawmakers “There will be changes to the ways that we are operating and allowing businesses to open over the next 30 days — and those will be made in accordance with how data shows we should be making those decisions.”

An official announcement on the detailed guidance for these businesses is set for Thursday. However,  Lee stated that phonecalls and overwhelming public concern about the issue led him to announce sooner.
