Greenbrier Home Lost To Fire Sunday Night

GREENBRIER TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A Greenbrier home is nearly a total loss after a fire that started around 8:pm Sunday evening.

The home is located in the 200 block of Rose Street in Greenbrier not far from Sonic Restaurant. MAP

There were three people and two cats inside the home at the time of the fire, two adults and one child but all (including the cats) escaped without injury, according to officials at the scene. A neighbor told Smokey Barn News that he heard screaming and ran outside to see the upper part of the home on fire. The neighbor said he ran into the backyard of the home and saw one of the residents still inside seemingly unaware that the home was on fire.

“Get out, your house is on fire!” the neighbor yelled.

When Firefighters, from Greenbrier, Ridgetop and White House Community, arrived the home was more than 50% involved, according the Greenbrier Fire Chief Kyle Hamill. Firefighters then began a two hour battle to save an much the home as they could.

Chief Hamill says that over 70% of the home was lost in the fire.
