Head-On Crash Closes Kinneys Rd In Springfield

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) –Kinneys Rd in Springfield was closed for about an hour and a half late Monday due to what the THP is calling a head on accident.

The accident occurred just before midnight in front of Rawls Auto Salvage. (MAP)

According to officials at the scene, though three people were transported to area hospitals, none of the occupants sustained life threatening injuries.

The vehicles, a Chevrolet Equinox LS and a Nissan Altima were both in the roadway following the crash shutting down Kinneys Rd for about an hour and a half while the THP conducted their investigation.

According to the THP, all three occupants were wearing safety belts. The use of safety belts, along with airbag protection, likely prevented this accident from being much worse, said one THP official.

As far as a cause of the accident, according to the THP, the accident is still under investigation but so far, it does not appear that drugs or alcohol played a factor.

Kinneys Rd is now open. If more information becomes available we will bring it to you.
