Obituary for Linda Wilson
Linda Evelyn Osborne Wilson, age 74, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024 at The Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 1pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Gary Dillard and Brother Donnie Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Kenny Betts, Jr., C.J. Betts, Dylan Wilson, Koby Rojo, Jasper Wilson, Curt Sowell, Michael Wilson and Tyler Braswell serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 4-8pm and again on Thursday from 11am until the hour of service at 1pm.
Mrs. Wilson was born August 12, 1949 in Springfield to the late Odis and Ruth Dowdy Osborne. She worked as a seamstress at Wilson Sporting Goods and was a life-long member of Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Wilson is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Wayne Wilson, sisters, Joann Randolph and Esther Crain, and her brother, Ray Osborne.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dwayne and Jennifer Wilson and Nick and Haley Wilson; daughter, Melissa Trimble; brother and sister-in-law, Roy Lee and Suzanne Osborne; grandchildren, Misty (Kenny) Betts, Adriana Rojo, Dylan (Katelyn) Wilson, Hanna (Tyler) Braswell, Koby (Rebekah) Rojo, Jasper Wilson, Atticus Wilson and Peyton Wilson; great-grandchildren, Presley Betts, C.J. Betts, Haley Betts, Alexus (Ryan) Brown, Caliyah Rojo, Cason Rojo, Dawson Braswell, Everly Braswell, Cayden Warren, Gibson Warren and Jarrett Wilson; great-great-grandchildren, Ava Brown and Zayden Smith; and coming soon, great-grandson, Nicolas Rojo.

Wilma Sue Hudgens Vandertang, of Jackson County, TN, passed away on February 24, 2024, in White House, TN at the age of 82. She was born on February 9, 1942.
Wilma was known for her love of working in her flower garden and traveling, with a special fondness for the beach. Her proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren, who affectionately called her “MeMaw”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward Long and Bessie Jenkins; husbands Burl Hudgens and Charles Vandertang, as well as her sister Marlene Fickes.
Wilma is survived by her son Tim (Dana) Hudgens, grandchildren Chris (Nicole) Troutt, Kristen (Adrian) Reeds, and Ana Hudgens, great-grandchild Wyatt Reeds, and sisters Sue and Linda. She is also survived by a special someone, who was like a daughter to her, Stacey Newman.
Services to celebrate Wilma’s life will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Goodlettsville, TN. A visitation will take place on March 1st from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again from 11AM-1PM Saturday prior to the service. The Celebration of Life service will be on March 2nd starting at 1:00 PM, burial will follow at White House Memorial Gardens.
Wilma Sue Hudgens Vandertang will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace.

Roy Milton Pitt Jr., 70, of Springfield, Tennessee, passed away on February 26, 2024.
He was born on December 3, 1953, in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Roy is survived by his beloved wife, Debi Sue Pitt; his son, Andrew Milton (Erica) Pitt; his sister, Mary Ann (Barna) Gibson; his sister, Betty Jo (Donald) Hawks; his granddaughter, Bella Clinard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private service for friends and family will be held at Oakland Baptist Church in Springfield, Tennessee, on March 2, 2024, at 12:30 PM.
May Roy rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
Obituary for Doris Garrett
Doris Ann Pinson Garrett, 88, of Springfield, passed from this life on Friday February 23, 2024, at The Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Doris Ann was born in Robertson County, in Orlinda, TN, on August 5, 1935, to the late Walton Sterling “Doc” and Carrie Pauline Webb Pinson. Her parents were farmers and Doris Ann grew up learning to do all the farm chores. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior when she was eleven years old and was baptized in the Red River by Brother Bruce Ousley. She was a member of the Christian faith, and she participated in church in many ways wherever she lived.
Doris Ann was a graduate of East Robertson High School Class of 1953. She was a star basketball player and team captain at East Robertson. She was also voted to be a member of the DAR. Doris Ann lived the first 49 plus years of her life in Robertson County. She married Ltc. Othur E. Garrett and moved to Paducah, KY in 1985. While living in Paducah, she was an avid gardener and homemaker. After his death, she moved back home to Robertson County in May of 2012. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
Doris Ann was a homemaker, and she loved the Lord, her family, and her friends. Prior to becoming a homemaker, Doris Ann worked as a secretary for Greenbrier First Baptist Church, as a bookkeeper and dispatcher for Better Block Company, and in Real Estate for G.S. Moore & Son. In her leisure time, she enjoyed quilting, genealogy, being a historian, and was an avid UT Vols fan. She was a longtime volunteer with the NorthCrest Medical Center Auxiliary and was a volunteer hostess at The Doctors House in Cross Plains.
Doris Ann is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Rick and Toni Lane of Spaulding, IL, Steven and Loretta Lane of Ft. McCoy, FL, by her daughters and sons-in-law: Barbara and Tom Wilson of Springville, TN, Susan and Robert Lenard of Mooresville, NC, by one grandson, six granddaughters, seventeen great grandchildren, four adopted great grandchildren, one adopted great great grandchild, and by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and their children.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday February 28th at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Obituary for Jeffrey Sawyers
Jeffrey Lynn Sawyers, 59, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday February 22, 2024.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday February 27th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Diane Coppock officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Justin Hutchison, Josh Pyle, J.R. Mealer, Briley Hutchison, Heath Parks, and Mark Wilson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Hilarino “Leno” Chavez, George Cowan, James Cowan, Paul Dyer, and William Bennett. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Jeffrey was born March 12, 1964, in Springfield. He was a member of GreenRidge Church of Christ, but also enjoyed attending Palestine Methodist Church, Woodland Street United Methodist Church, and the Main Street Church of Christ. Jeffrey enjoyed watching wrestling, participating in Special Olympics, going to church, eating at Shoney’s, anything “Elvis” like watching movies, listening to music, and collecting Elvis memorabilia, and he always enjoyed spending time with his family especially on holidays and birthdays. He was preceded in death by his father: Leonard Sawyers, by his mother: Mabel Ann Goodwin Sawyers, and by his brother: Barry Sawyers.
Jeffrey is survived by his sister: Mary Nell Sawyers Mealer and husband Glenn of Springfield, by his nephews: Justin Hutchison, Josh Pyle, and Glenn Mealer, Jr., by his niece: Ashley Mealer, and by nine great nieces and nephews.
Jeffrey’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of RHA, in Springfield, for the love and care that each of them extended to Jeffrey.

Obituary for Robert Cyprus
Robert G. Cyprus of Springfield, Tennessee passed away peacefully Monday, February 19, 2024, after a brief illness. “Cowboy Bob” as he was known to most, was born on September 21, 1935, in the Bronx, New York. He graduated from the American School in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1953, and entered Cornell University, graduating in the class of 1957 with a B.S. degree in Agricultural Economics. While at Cornell, he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and played on the varsity polo team for four years. In August 1957, he married his college sweetheart Jo Anne Eastburn. After serving for three years in the U.S. Army Reserve at Ft. Bliss, Texas, he began a 30-year career as a special agent for Prudential Insurance Company in El Paso, Texas where he and Jo Anne lived for 40 years while they raised their three children. During this time, Bob pursued his lifelong love for horses and polo as a member of the Paso Del Norte Polo Club.
In 1995, he moved to Springfield, Tennessee where his business card listed him as “Old Retired Guy/Gentleman Farmer/Horseman”. Bob was a member of the Montgomery County Trail Riders Association and New Chapel Men’s Club. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and a covenant member of Fifth Avenue Uniting Church. On a typical day, Bob could be found riding his horses through his back pastures, sitting on the back patio in the sun, and eating a bowl of ice cream.
He is preceded in death by his mother (Erica), father (Kip) and brother (Norman). He is survived by his wife of 66 years Jo Anne, his three children Robert Bruce Cyprus, Thomas Clayton Cyprus (Tawni), Elizabeth Cyprus Anderson (Mike), and his five grandchildren Lexi Sisk (Casey), Chandler Badcock (Matt), Laurel Callaway (Jack), Allie Cyprus, Tripper Capps.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alive Hospice Nashville, or Fifth Avenue Uniting Church of Springfield. Rusti Sue Wiersma, age 52, of Cedar Hill, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at her home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Center Point Baptist church in Barren Plains on Saturday, March 2nd at 1pm with Brother Ronnie Green officiating. There will be a balloon release ceremony at 2pm following the Celebration of Life service at the church. All are welcome to attend.
Ms. Wiersma was born November 11, 1971 in Grand Rapids, MI to Robert Simon Wiersma, Jr. and Lois Jeanne Merritt Johnson. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service after many years of service.

She is survived by her mother, Lois Jeanne Johnson; brothers, Ryan Shawn (Michelle) Wiersma, and Doug (Shannon) Lagendyk; sisters, Valerie Kim, and Rhonda (Elvis) Bellar; step mother, Karen Uhen; goddaughter, Annalese “Lei-Lei” Beeks; nephews, Justin Simon, Shawn (Ariel) Simon, Shane Wiersma and as well as several nieces and nephews that she loved as if they were her own children.

Obituary for Cynthia Brummett

Cynthia L. Brummett, 81, of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024. Born August 23, 1942, in Nashville, she was the daughter of the late James Newton Stamps and Zada Mae Head Stamps.
She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Madison. Cynthia was a retired optician having worked locally for Milam’s Optical, Pearle Vision, and Lens Crafters. She found great joy in being a grandmother and great grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Howard Stamps, Foy Stamps, Vernon Stamps, Maryanne Smith, Mildred Castleman, Christine Stamps, and Doug Stamps.
She is survived by her sons Terry Roberts, Steve Roberts, and Brandon Brummett; brother Larry (Dixie) Stamps; grandchildren Deanna (Randy) Bone, Jason (Susan) Hankins, Steven Roberts, Brian Roberts, Caitlyn Brummett and Carrigan Brummett; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; former husband and companion Vernon Brummett; longtime friends Brenda, Denise, and Sonia; and a host of extended family members; additionally she is survived by Lisa and Nicole whose friendship and love endured.
Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm on Wednesday, February 21 at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Rita Cecile Dixon, 77, of White House, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024. Born August 10, 1946, in Youngsville, Louisianna, she was the daughter of the late Carl Rabeaux and Delta Viator Rabeaux.
Rita was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed dearly. In her time she enjoyed painting, dancing, or finding a flea market.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her sisters Linda Rabeaux and Evelyn Castolenia.
She is survived by her sons Bernard Dixon and his wife Tiffani, and Robert Dixon; grandchildren Alyssa Dixon, Hunter Dixon, Haley Olivio, Carly Dixon, Ashton Allen and Mady Allen; great granddaughter Azalea Dixon; brothers Michael Roberts and Loius Rabeaux; sisters Elda Trahan, Patricia Daniels, and Carlene Rabeaux.

Obituary for Dorothy Polk Fudge
April 6, 1929 — February 16, 2024
Dorothy Polk Fudge, 94, of Mt. Juliet (formerly of Goodlettsville), passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024. Born April 6, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Lucious Polk and Artie Estelle Lassiter Polk.
Dorothy was a member of Goodlettsville High School’s graduating class of 1947.
She attended Peabody College in Nashville, but left to get married, and have four sons. She went to work as a bookkeeper for her father’s business, Ben Polk Chevrolet. While raising the 4 boys, she was a working Mom, sometimes riding the bus to Nashville to work in the L&C Tower for Southwestern Company, and later at Horner-Rausch Optical, and finally the Tom James Company, from which she retired after 27 years, in 1994, as the Executive Accountant.
Dorothy, or “Grandmas or Maws” as she was known to her large family, will always be remembered for how loving and kind she was…accepting of all, and showing how important you were to her through her words and actions. She is known for always… ALWAYS!… sending cards! Birthday, holidays, special occasions, all occasions would bring a card from Dorothy. And her mailing list had no end…
She attended Silver Springs Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet, and had been a longtime member of Hillhurst Baptist Church in Nashville.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son Ronald Wayne “Ronny” Fudge; granddaughter Virginia Connor; and her great-great granddaughter Ariel.
She is survived by her sons James Edward (Kay) Fudge, Richard Polk (Julie) Fudge, and Steven Paul (Linda) Fudge; daughter-in-law Jana Fudge; sisters Joyce Polk Mayes and Bennie Polk (Bobby) Troop; grandchildren Matthew (Christina Zarrilli) Fudge, Thomas (Brittni) Fudge, Michelle (Nathan) Carr, Chris (Rachel) Fudge, Andrew (Whitney) Fudge, Rhonda (Donnie Cherry) Benton, Darrell (Ashley) Fudge, Benjamin Fudge, Danny (Tiffiany) Fudge, and Stephanie (Shelly Vickers) Fudge; great grandchildren Dorothy, Nora, James, Cole, Claire, Ruthie, Gwen, Elle, Chloe, Audrey, Kendall, Charlie, Shiloh, River, Kevin, Hannah, Emily, Mattie, Marlana, Eli, Lilly, Brady, Dakota, and great granddog Teddy; great great grandson Jeremiah.

Obituary for James Kyle Davis
Mr. James Kyle Davis, 53 of Springfield, TN, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024, in Murray, KY.
Born May 26, 1970, in Grinnell, IA, he was the son of the late Jerry Davis and Mary (Weber) Davis of Shabbona, IL. James honorably served his country, retiring after 22 years of service in the United States Army. He earned the rank of Sergeant First Class and served in Iraq before his retirement. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in combat.
James will be remembered as a loving husband and father, who especially loved spending time with his son, Alex. He also enjoyed fishing, spending time with his friends, and being out in the country.
In addition to his mother, James is survived by his wife, Ruth (Gaitan) Davis of Springfield, TN; son, James Alexander “Alex” Davis of Springfield, TN; siblings, Jerry K. (Veronica) Davis of Marana, AZ, Jodi K. (John) Davis of Santa Fe, NM, Jana K. Davis of Marana, AZ, Jay K. Davis of Oregon, IL, Jennifer K. (Nicholas) Gaston of Shabbona, IL, and John K. Davis of Elburn, IL. He is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and nephew, Michael Curtis Gaston.
A service celebrating the life of James Kyle Davis, and honoring his military service, was held Friday, February 23, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at The Ruby Cora, 2300 Gunn Road, Adams, TN 37010.

Ms. June was born June 8, 1937, in White House, to the late Roy Cecil and Audrey Lily Rector Covington. She was a graduate of East Robertson High School Class of 1955. Ms. June was a homemaker and a member of Goodlettsville Church of Christ. She loved collecting rocks, gardening, flowers, birdwatching, animals, writing poems and short stories, and going out to eat. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Bobby Gene Clinard.
Ms. June is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Ronald Gene and Wanda Clinard of Springfield, by her granddaughter: Jennifer McKinney and husband James, by her sister: Ellen Covington Tate of Spring Hill, and by her great grandchildren: Tré McKinney, Jaiden McKinney, Kameron McKinney, and Colin McKinney.

Obituary for William Malone
William Barry Malone, age 66 of Springfield, passed from this life on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at his home.
His remains were cremated and the family will have a memorial service at a later date.
Mr. Malone was born December 16, 1957 in Madison to the late Willie D. and Martha Marie Raymer Malone. He was a retired butcher from H. G. Hills and had also worked as a police officer and a security officer. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and going fishing and working on cars. His last few years have been spent mostly taking care of his wife after her sickness.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sandra Weaver Malone of Springfield; daughter, Kristy Malone of Lebanon; grandchildren, Hannah Gott and William Gott; sisters, Brenda Mack and husband Doug of Cottontown, Judy Carmen and husband David of Springfield, and Pamela Ness and husband David of Castilian Springs; sisters-in-law, Virginia Summerville and husband Richard of Brentwood and Vivian Camp and husband Darryl of Ringgold, GA; and brother-in-law, Howard Carr of Madisonville, KY.

Diana Lynn Randolph, age 61 of Orlinda, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at her home.

Diana was born February 6, 1963 in Huntington, WV. She was of the Baptist faith and was a former administrative assistant for Yellow Freight. She loved to go horseback riding with her best friend, Pam, and was an animal lover. She also enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren, seeing her family, and the outdoors. She was preceded in death by her father, James Hensley; stepfather, Bob Lemon; and brother-in-law, Orval Williamson.
Surviving her are her husband, James Edd Randolph of Orlinda; mother, Carrie Lemon of Huntington, WV; son, Michael Adkins and wife Cyndee of Scottsville, KY; daughter, Michelle Marshall and husband Mario of Portland; sisters, Linda Williamson of Huntington, WV and Sandy Miller and husband Kenny of Huntington, WV; grandchildren, Cayden, Chloe, Lincoln, Peyton, Neyland, Zane, Ahnna, Jaxson, Emmalyn, and Hayden; and her best friend Pam Ferguson and husband Larry of Portland.

Ms. Betty loved fishing, cooking, and taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Willie Alfred Darrow, Sr., by her sons: Danny Darrow and John Tracey Darrow, and by her grandsons: Willie Alfred Darrow, III, and James Brian Darrow.
Ms. Betty is survived by her sons: Willie Alfred (Judy) Darrow, Jr., of Springfield, David Wayne Darrow of Springfield, Lewis Steven (Darlene) Darrow of Springfield, and Troyce Phillip Darrow, by her grandsons: Paul Elvis (Amy Lynn) Darrow, John Robert (Amanda) Darrow, and Troyce Edward Darrow, and by her 12 great grandchildren.

Robert Edward Christian, age 80 of White House went home to be with the Lord Saturday, February 17, 2024 at his home. He was born September 4, 1943 in Johnson City, TN to Ralph Edward and Laura Mae Young Christian. He worked as a machinist for Tate Fabricating until his retirement and was a long-time member of The Church at Grace Park. He was an avid NASCR fan and a skilled handyman, always willing to help the church or his friends’ complete repairs or little projects. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren more than anything and loved picking fun at his daughters.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Grace Eliabeth Moore. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dana Christian, White House, TN; daughters, Elizabeth Anne (Wes) Crain, White House, TN and Lisa Juneil (Phil) Houston, Springfield, TN; brother, David Wyle (Sue) Christian Jonesborough, TN; 2 grandchildren, Jared (Alex) Crain, White House, TN and Sydney Crain, Nashville, TN; 1 great-granddaughter on the way, Amelia Rose Crain.
A memorial service is planned for Friday, March 8, 2024 at 7pm at the chapel at Grace Park with Pastor Bob Cook officiating. Visitation is planned for Friday, March 8, 2024 5-7pm at the chapel. A private family inurnment will take place at the Hillcrest Cemetery Columbarium.

Pat Lytell Blaylock, age 82, of Cottontown passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Hendersonville Medical Center. He was born November 2, 1941 in Nashville, TN to Bert Lytell & Lois Ruth Owen Blaylock. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Blaylock was a business entrepreneur, and he managed several Nashville nightclubs.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda. He is survived by two daughters, Vickie (John) Wrenn, Satellite Beach, FL and Niki Alannah (Joshua) Miller, Knoxville, TN; two brothers, James O. (Libby) Blaylock, White House, TN and Barry Blaylock; sister, Gay (Michael) Loveday, Goodlettsville, TN; four grandchildren, Evan Wrenn, Falls Church, VA, Nathan (Vanessa) Wrenn, San Diego, CA, Austin (Julie) Wrenn, Miami, FL and Duncan Wrenn, Santa Monica, CA.
