Obituary for Ruth Pearson

Ruth Margaret Cuffman Pearson, 89, of Portland, passed from this life on Monday November 11, 2024, at The Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

Graveside services were conducted Friday November 15th at 12:00 p.m. in the Greenbrier Cemetery with Pastor Derek Capello officiating. Pallbearers were Tanner Mowell, Montana Jones, Daniel Pearson, Bryan Webb, Braden Jones, and Barry Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Pearson, Randy Pearson, Knox Jones, and Tommy Cuffman. There was no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Ms. Ruth was born May 24, 1935, in Greenbrier, to the late Albert and Louise Collier Cuffman. She was a homemaker and was a Christian. Ms. Ruth was one of the strongest people many have ever known, and she got through it all for many years because of her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook and watch her family enjoy her meals and was one of the best southern cooks. If you ever asked how to make one of her dishes, she would tell you what to put in it, but she would never quite tell you exactly how much because she didn’t use measurements so there are some of her recipes that we, as a family, could never perfect and will be lost forever. She loved her family and was happiest when she was with them. She liked to watch Tennessee Vols and Ohio State football. Ms. Ruth never met a stranger and was loved by everyone.

Goodlettsville

Dorothy “Dot” Cartwright, a beloved resident of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the age of 87. Born December 28, 1936, in Goodlettsville, she was the daughter of the late Nathan Bradford Hamlett and Valoura Reece Hamlett.

Dot was a proud graduate of Goodlettsville High School, where she completed her studies in the class of 1953. Following her education, she enjoyed a fulfilling career, retiring from Pirelli Tires, where she was known for her dedication and hard work.

Outside of her professional life, Dot was a vibrant and engaging individual. She was known for her witty humor, thoughtfulness, and caring nature. Her personality left an indelible mark on those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Gamma Dot also found great joy in nurturing her garden and surrounding herself with blooming flowers. Her love for detail was evidenced in her enjoyment of crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles, where she exhibited both patience and determination. A collector at heart, she passionately amassed Barbie dolls over the years, which brought her immense joy and nostalgia. Additionally, she had a fondness for shopping at Publix.

Dot Dot leaves behind a loving family, including her granddaughters Cheryl (Daran) McQuaig and Beth Mendez, along with her great-grandchildren Diego Mendez, Ana Mendez, Dalton McQuaig, and Drake McQuaig. She is also survived by her sister, Betty (Tommy) Elder. Each of her family members will forever hold her memory close to their hearts, cherishing the laughter, love, and lessons she imparted during her lifetime.

Obituary for Glenn Robert Hollingsworth

On Monday afternoon, November 11, 2024, Glenn Robert Hollingsworth, a native and proud lifelong resident of Robertson County, moved from his earthly home to one in heaven to be united with the God he sought, family, and numerous friends.

Born at his childhood home in Barren Plains on March 1, 1929, to Dottsie (Dunn) and James “Pete” Hollingsworth, he was the third of four children where a love of family was instilled early and stayed with him all of his days. After graduating from Barren Plains High School, Glenn married Marjorie Orman Hollingsworth in November 1948, beginning a 61-year journey together. During those six decades, they raised two sons, built fuel and farming businesses, relished their grandchildren and great grandchildren, traveled, and left a legacy of love and devotion to the end of both of their lives. In the later years of Glenn’s life, many of his happiest times were simple days spent fishing, at family dinners, in his gardens, visiting with friends, watching ball games, serving in various ministries at Springfield Baptist Church, and making thousands of chocolate turtles each holiday season to give away. He led with love and the fun always followed.

In addition to his wife and parents, he looked forward to being reunited with his son Don Hollingsworth, and siblings, Jimmy Hollingsworth, Ralph Hollingsworth, and Christine (Hollingsworth) Dozier.

He will be missed by son and daughter-in-law Ronnie and Cheri Hollingsworth and daughter-in-law, Glenda Hollingsworth. Grandchildren Jinnifer (Ben) Johnston, Rachel (Clayton) Richardson, Suzann Hollingsworth, Corbitt (Audrey) Hollingsworth, and Mary Glenn (Marc) Fatton. Great grandchildren Mallory Johnston, Morgan-Blair Richardson, Avery Johnston, Amelia Richardson, Emmy Cate Hollingsworth, Spencer Fatton, and Ellie Hollingsworth.
