Obituary for Andre McDonald

Andre Dewan McDonald, age 40 of Cottontown, TN, passed away on November 17, 2023. Dre was born on December 30, 1982 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony McDonald; and his grandparents, Shirley McDonald, Harry McDonald, Lillian Breckenridge Holliday, and Jesse William Smith.

Dre had a smile and laugh that could light up even the darkest of days. He took great joy in the simple things life had to offer and wanted nothing more than to live life to the fullest capacity. He had no greater love, pride, or joy in life than for his wife and his four children, whom he reminded every chance he got. He believed family extended beyond blood relatives and regarded anyone who would allow him to love and care for them to be a part of his. He lived his life as the ultimate example of tolerance, compassion, and acceptance.

floral squareIn lieu of a formal service, at Dre’s request, for those wishing to honor his life, please memorialize him in ways which he expressed were most important to him. Plant a tree or a garden and watch it grow. Be present in every moment. Travel elaborately when money allows, or pitch a tent when it doesn’t. Build a fire. Enjoy the rain as much as the sun. Most importantly, support love, growth, and healing of anyone that surrounds you.
