Obituary for David Earl Miller

David Earl Miller, 70, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday October 21, 2023, at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday October 25th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Curtis Hester officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

David was born April 17, 1953, in Clinton, TN, to the late Bill and Lessie Pauline Marlow Miller. He was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1971 and was a member of Christ Community Apostolic Church in Springfield. David worked several years for Better Block, and then for Macy’s in Portland. He loved metal scrapping, ginseng hunting, and anything that he could be outdoors doing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Charles Clayton Miller.

Tabitha “TABBY” Brooke Chapin, age 16 of Cross Plains, TN passed away October 22, 2023 at her home. She was born October 31, 2006 in Tullahoma, TN to Bryanna Chapin. She worked as a crew trainer for McDonald’s in White House and was a junior at East Robertson High School. She was treasurer of the National Honor Society, a member of the BETA Club and the Math Club President. She loved art and her 2 cats, her 2 dogs and her bearded dragon.

Tabby is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Colleen Furman. She is survived by her Mom and Dad, Ken and Bryanna Furman; sisters, Paxton Furman and Madison Chapin, all of Cross Plains, TN; paternal grandfather, Marshall Furman, Middletown, NY; maternal grandparents, Shawn and Debra Chapin, Manchester, TN; boyfriend, Noah Elliott, Cros Plains, TN; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Obituary for Cindy

Cynthia “Cindy” Annette Day, 66 years old, of Cross Plains, Tennessee passed away on October 22, 2023. She was born September 16, 1957, in San Jose, California to Malcolm and Cecelia Sewell. She attended Highland Academy in Portland, Tennessee and graduated in the class of 1976. She then attended Southern Missionary College and graduated in 1978 with an ASN. After which she served as a Student Missionary in Japan for the 1978-1979 school year. She married her best friend Thomas (Tom) Day in London, Kentucky on August 15, 1980. In her adult years Cindy worked 40 years as a Registered Nurse, tended her second job of growing a productive fruit and vegetable garden that fed so many people, joyfully devoted her time to the children and youth at White House Seventh-day Adventist Church, and loved children and grandchildren with actions, reading stories, and sharing garden produce. Cindy and Tom traveled to many mission trips to help build churches, serve the sick, and share Jesus.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Tom Day, RN, daughter Rachel C. (Scott) Hansen, PharmD, and their children Josiah Sackett, Becca Eloise, and Lincoln Horatio; and daughter Rose Mary (Bobby, Jr.) Wint, FNP, and their children Nolan Howard and Cooper Thomas. She is survived by her siblings Sylvia (John) Sutton, and Yolanda (Carl) Riley, Sonja Bell, Jim Sewell, Johnny (Linda) Day, Larry Harrison, Donnie (Lisa) Day. She is also survived by Aunt Verna (Del) Demick, Aunt Alice Gerrans, Uncle Wesley (Jacqueline) Gerrans. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews: Christy Yech, John Sutton, II, Lisa Sutton, Carla (Rod) Snow, Katrina (William) Crawford, Patrick (Erin) Riley, April Tonsberg, Carmen (Josh) Day, Cassandra Crausaz, Sarah (Kevin) Schmidt, James (Denise) Day, Jr., Craig Day, Sol Day, Kristina Day, Jonathan (Tonya) Harrison, Jennifer (Christopher) Scruggs, John (Rosa) Day, Lauren (Rob) Spires. As well as 18+ great-nephews and 10+ great-nieces, many cousins and extended family.

She was preceded in death by parents Malcolm and Cecelia Sewell and siblings-in-marriage James Day and Carol Harrison.

Her steady loving presence will be missed and we all look forward to seeing her again when Jesus comes back.

Charles Bluford Lassiter, age 81, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023 at NorthCrest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 12pm at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Greenbrier with Brother Jon Briggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Cemetery with Roane Choate, David Mayes, Michael Lassiter, Seth Choate, Jarreth Lassiter and Jerry Wooden serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Al Wiley, Tyler Thacker and Noah Harrington.

Visitation will be held at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 4-8pm and at the church on Wednesday from 10am until the hour of service at 12pm.

Mr. Lassiter was born January 10, 1942 in Greenbrier to the late Virgil “Rip” and Annie Mae Wilson Lassiter. He worked as a railroad conductor for CSX for 39 years, was a tobacco farmer, and was a life-long member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a founding charter member of American Legion Post 45.

Nancy Katherine Belcher, age 87, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, died Friday, October 20, 2023, at her home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 3:00PM on Saturday, November 4th, with Jon Amspaugh officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00PM until the hour of service at 3:00PM.

Mrs. Belcher was born on January 25, 1936, in Coopertown, Tennessee, to the late Alfonso & Elsie Mai Ledbetter Drake. She was a hairdresser for over 25 years and enjoyed yardwork, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, John William Butler; brothers, Leonard Drake and T.R. Drake; and sisters, Margaret Lee and Sue Gifford.

Weldon Truman Bunch, age 75 of White House passed away Friday, October 20, 2023 at Skyline Medical Center. He was born July 25, 1948 in RIngland, Oklahoma to Woodrow & Edna Lorene Hanks Bunch. He worked as a truck driver for S&S Enterprises before his retirement and was a member of Hendersonville Church of Christ. He served his country in Vietnam in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed NASCAR, attending church , traveling and spending time with his friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris Irene Bunch; son Gary Dean Bunch; brother, Leon Bunch; sisters, Laverne Vaughn and Tobitha Knight. He is survived by his sons Randy Bunch and Norman Bunch, both of White House, TN; sister, Wanda Jean Bunch, Hendersonville, TN; 3 grandchildren, Brittney Jean (Zach) Pate, Lucas Dean Bunch and Abigail Rose Bunch, all of White House, TN.

He loved to climb and he enjoyed playing in the water and watching Cocomelon.

Ashton Dale Joyce, 46, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday October 19, 2023, at his home.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday October 23rd at 11:00 a.m. in the Williams Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Bob Cook officiating. Pallbearers will be Will Joyce, Jerry Jones, David Thomas, Bob Barnhill, Layne Tate, and Jackson Jones. The family will receive friends at the graveside service.

Ashton was born November 18, 1976, in Nashville. He was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1995 and was a member of the Church at Grace Park in White House. Ashton was a former deputy with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Department and the Goodlettsville Police Department. He was the owner and operator of Joyce Construction Company. His work was his passion in life, and he also enjoyed fishing from time to time. Ashton was preceded in death by his grandparents: Richard and Eva Poor, David B. Joyce, and Martha Jean Wix Pearson.

Lois Ann Norris, age 87 of Greenbrier, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield.

Graveside services were conducted Friday, October 20, 2023 at 3:00 PM in Greenbrier Cemetery with Bro. Johnny Trail officiating and Jacob Ballentine, Riley Bowers, Jason Coles, Greg Marlin, Zach Garza, and Davis Murray serving as pallbearers. There was no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Ms. Lois was born May 30, 1936 in Greenbrier. She was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ and was retired from Atwood. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, and working word search puzzles. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Davis, and mother, Nellie Turner Andrews.

Marie Keith Choate, age 100, of Springfield, passed from this life on Monday October 16, 2023, at Skyline Medical Center.

Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery with Ricky Head, Jim Hall, Trent Cobb, Johnson Privett, Kenneth Cooksey, Ray Briggs serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Ms. Marie was born May 22, 1923, in Springfield, to the late L.O. Keith and Goldie West Keith Fuqua. She was a longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and was a retired sales associate with the former Cain Sloan Department Store. Ms. Marie enjoyed cooking, sewing, and crocheting, especially dollies that she loved giving to her family and friends. Her family was her life, especially the time she spent with her grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren. Ms. Marie loved the Lord, her family, her church, and her many friends. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband: James Carlie “Jimmy” Choate, by her son and daughter-in-law: Jimmy Keith and Donna Moore Choate, and by her siblings: Margie Keith Simmons, Biddie, Maxie, Don, and Medford Keith.

Lisa Ann Richards, age 55 of Springfield, passed from this life on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Tristar NorthCrest Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Trail, Bro. Jack Martin, and Allen Roach officiating. Burial followed in Sulphur Spring Cemetery in Franklin, KY with Bo Rippie, Allen Roach, Michael Baldwin, Steve Dorris, Vic Domen, and Grant Domen serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Richards, Jerry Richards, Tom Richards, James Jackson, Chuck Clayborn, Michael Brooksher, Lewis Richards, Lee Robey, and Mark Hendrix. The family received friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 AM until the hour of service.

Lisa was born June 27, 1968 in Russellville, KY to Donald Richards of Springfield and the late Julia Ette Wheely Richards. She was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ, a graduate of Greenbrier High School Class of 1989, and worked at H.A.T.S. of Springfield for 33 years. Lisa experienced unbridled happiness, laughing, and enjoying time with family and friends. She was very social and enjoyed visiting with people and eating out. Lisa touched many lives and will forever be remembered in our hearts.

In addition to her father who cared for her for 55 years, she is survived and loved by her sister, Donna Domen of Franklin, TN; nephew, Grant Domen of Washington, D.C.; niece, Abigail Domen of Franklin, TN; brother-in-law, Vic Domen of Washington, D.C.; personal assistant Connie (Bo) Rippie of Springfield; the one she loved as a brother, Allen (Tammy) Roach of Gallatin; uncles, Tom (Jean) Richards of Adairville, KY, Jesse (Brenda) Richards of Franklin, KY, Lewis Richards of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Jerry (Linda) Richards of Macon, GA; aunts, Linda Richards (Steve) Dorris of Franklin, KY, Judy Kay Richards (James) Jackson of Springfield, TN, and Melissa Wheely (Jeff) Howell of Adairville, KY; and many, many cousins.

May we strive to follow Lisa’s example of resilience, kindness, and bravery as we mourn her loss and ensure others like her in our communities experience the same kind of inclusive love no matter how long or short their lives are.

Obituary for George Lindsay

William “George” Lindsay, age 86 of Ashland City, Tennessee, died Friday, October 20, 2023 at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 11:00AM on Friday, October 27th with Pastor Dylan Proctor officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00PM in Wofford Cemetery in Dover, Tn., with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 26th from 3:00PM until 7:00PM and again on Friday from 10:00AM until the hour of service at 11:00AM.

Mr. Lindsay was born on December 9, 1936 in Dover, Tennessee to the late William & Pocahontas Wofford Lindsay. He was retired from McDonald Aircraft after 20 years. After retirement he loved to tinker with lawn mowers and loved to cut the grass. He also worked on cars, gardening and loved his family very much. He was a member of Joelton Church of the Nazarene.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, William Franklin Lindsay.

She was born August 24, 1950 in Arlington, Massachusetts to Earl Arthur and Doris Patricia Beasley Johnson. She worked as an LPN for many years at Nashville Memorial Hospital. She later worked for Hendersonville Hospital and then NorthCrest Medical Center before her retirement. She had been involved in The Eastern Star over the years. Karen enjoyed working in her yard, antiquing and going to yard sales and flea markets. She was someone who never met a stranger.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steve Wolbert; 2 brothers, Earl A. Johnson and Paul C. Harris; sister, Barbara L. Johnson; a granddaughter. She is survived by her loving husband, James Harris, White House, TN; brothers, Thomas M. Johnson, Brookline, Massachusetts and Arthur J. Johnson, Wilmington, Massachusetts; sisters, Sandra (Louis) Savlen, Lexington, Massachusetts and Paula J. Francesshelli, New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Naomi Kathleen Flatt, 87, of Springfield, passed from this life on Friday October 13, 2023, at NHC Healthcare Center in Springfield.

A private family entombment service was conducted in the Joelton Hills Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Mrs. Flatt was born October 8, 1936, in Indian Mound, TN, to the late Leonard H. and Margie Craig Armstrong. She was a retired assembly technician from Acme Boot and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Mrs. Flatt enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Obituary for Randall (Randy) Dixon

Randall (Randy) Dixon, 58, departed this life on Sunday, October 15, 2023 peacefully at home where he wanted to be. He demonstrated great strength, courage, and dignity over many years as he battled multiple chronic illnesses.

He was born on December 6, 1964 to Domer & Barbara Dixon in Livingston, Tennessee. As the middle son of two sisters, he kept them on their toes and was known as a risk taker. Randalls sense of humor was unique and if you knew him, you witnessed this first hand. He was always the life of the party and was always wearing a smile no matter how he was feeling. He loved hard and true and his zest for life was infectious.

Randall lived most of his life in Springfield, Tennessee and graduated from Springfield High School, Class of 1983. He had a passion for older cars and trucks and loved riding motorcycles. He was a hard worker & helper and one to push through even when the pain of multiple surgeries and other health problems began to take a toll on him, while always showing up for his family and friends.

Randall was loved by many who will dearly miss him. His wife, Teri Dixon of 23 years who he loved and adored. His children: Kristen Johnson, Kayla Dixon, Jade Dixon & wife Lauren, Jessika Dixon Collins & husband Corey, Emily Riddle, Amanda Alexander & husband Dusty, Rebecca Minyard & husband Christian. His two sisters, Kathy Dugan and Lisa Patterson. Eighteen grandchildren, and 4 nieces. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives & friends will miss his laughter and fun loving nature.

Dale “Mayor” Franklin Shearon, age 77 of Chapmansboro, Tennessee, died Sunday, October 15, 2023 at his home.

Memorial services will be conducted at Mallory’s Church, 4330 Thomasville Rd, Chapmansboro, TN. at 1:00PM on Saturday, November 4th, with Bro. Randy Hester officiating. Burial of cremains will follow in Mallory’s Cemetery.

Mr. Shearon was born on November 24, 1945, in Montgomery County, Tennessee, to the late Frank & Dorothy Hunter Shearon. He was a veteran of the United States Army and later served in the National Guard. He was owner and operator of a mechanic shop for over 55 years. Mr. Shearon was mayor of Thomasville and loved to fish, cook, and was well known for his ribs, chicken, and turnip greens. He took pride in his tomato plants. He loved his family and grandchildren, but most of all he loved his Lord and Savior. He was a member of Mallory’s Church.

She enjoyed watching FOX News, spending time outdoors, watching Titans football and spending time with her family and friends. She was very opinionated and outspoken and missed her little dog Rowdy who passed away a few short weeks ago.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Revered David Dean officiating. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4 until 7 PM and Tuesday from 8 AM until the hour of service.

floral squareMr. Denning was born November 20, 1928 in Orlinda to the late Joe and Maude Jennett Denning. He was a member of Orlinda Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a farmer and was a retired Tennessee State Trooper where he worked with the truck weigh stations. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Steen Denning; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Surviving him are his sons and daughter-in-law, John Denning of Orlinda and Phillip “P.W.” and Karen Denning of Adairville, KY; grandson, A.J. Reynolds; one great grandchild; and two great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Sue Stuard Hitchcock Clauson, age 84, of Adams, TN passed away on October 12, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation with the family was held from 10 am until the time of the service on October 17, 2023 at the River House at Southern Light, 3476 Rossview Road, Clarksville, TN. Funeral services were conducted at noon with Brother Bruce Cunningham officiating, burial followed at Bellwood Cemetery in Adams, TN.

Mrs. Clauson was born in Robertson County on August 11, 1939 to the late Madge White Stuard and Clarence Stuard, Sr. She was a graduate of Jo Byrns High School. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, gardening, painting, watching Hallmark movies, and most of all spending time with her family. She retired from US Air where she was a flight coordinator. She was a woman of strong faith and most recently attended LifePoint Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marwood Clauson, her brothers Clarence Stuard, Jr. and Jerry Stuard, and her sister Sandra Cook. She is survived by her children Carol Hitchcock Rozanski (Casey Coble) and Joseph (Alejandra) Hitchcock, her grandchildren Brittany (Steve) McCurdy, Derek Rozanski, Mary Charlotte Hitchcock, and Annie Hitchcock, her great-grandchildren Laynie Crabill, Kiah McCurdy, and Wyatt McCurdy, as well as her sisters Helen Bellar, Delma Woosley, Bessie Bryant, and Jean Deighton. Additionally, she is survived by her step-daughters Desni Clauson Brannon, Michelle (Bill) Clauson Hulbert, and Kristin (Chip) Clauson Gifford, their children and grandchildren.

Dotsie was born January 22, 1944, in Springfield, to the late Lawrence and Mossy Heatherly Prince. She was a retired supervisor from Datrek Professional Bags and was a member of Eastland Heights Baptist Church. Dotsie enjoyed gardening, refinishing furniture, antiquing, horses, and going to yard sales. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Ralph Leftrick, Sr.; granddaughter Caitlin Lassiter Leftrick; and by her siblings: Cora Lee Arnold, Elizabeth Johnson, and Wayne Prince.

Terry Wayne Hampton, age 67 of White House, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at St. Thomas West Hospital.

Terry was born January 17, 1956 in Springfield to the late John L. and Evelyn Virginia Dunivan Hampton. He worked as an analyst with Community Health Systems. He was on the Grand Ole Opry circuit for 25 years where he was a musician, backup singer, and floral squaresong writer. He was very skillful especially in woodworking and painting and enjoyed raising golden retrievers.

Surviving him are his brother, James Harold Hampton of Springfield; sister, Shirley Hampton of Greenbrier; nieces, Pam, Kathy, Janet, and Talisa; nephews, Ronnie and Lonnie; and many cousins.

Mrs. Donna was born October 1, 1954 in Detroit, MI to the late Bobby and Wanda Williams Mantlow. She formerly worked at Dixie Maid Café and Electrolux and attended a non-denominational church. She enjoyed crocheting, flowers, and working in her own flower beds. She also loved spending time with her family and they shared a lot of love between each other. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Shores; a grandchild, Caleb Marlar; and her sister, Brenda Faye Adams.

Mr. Knight was born in Cedar Hill to the late Frank and Elma Whitaker Knight. He worked as a stamp operator at Tsubaki in Portland and attended Grace Free Will Baptist Church. He loved to fish, he loved watching football and loved working on old cars.

Ronald Powers Moncrief, age 84, of Ashland City, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Nashville.

Funeral services were conducted at 12pm Tuesday, October 17th in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield. Military graveside services were conducted at 2pm Tuesday in the Middle TN State Veterans Cemetery.

The family received friends from 10am until time of the service at 12pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Moncrief was born July 11, 1939 in Nashville, to the late Dennis Powers and Lallie Belle Moncrief. He spent his life serving is country in the U.S. Air Force and the Tennessee and Florida National Guards, and retired from the military as a Senior Master Sergeant.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Moncrief was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Pruitt Moncrief; sister, June Duncan; and a half brother, George Moncrief.

He is survived by his son, Michael Powers “Mike” Moncrief; half sister, Sarah Moncrief Gibson; nieces, Tracey Bryant, Leslie Thornton, Rebecca Shaw, Carol Duncan, Tammie Browning, and Denise Key; and nephews, Chad Gibson, Dennis Moncrief, and George Moncrief.

Mrs. Locke was born in Jacksonville, AL on September 14, 1933 and she was a member of Goodlettsville Church of Christ.
