Obituary for Wanda Roberta Dixon

Wanda Roberta Dixon, age 87, died peacefully on January 7, 2020. Born in Hendersonville, on September 19, 1932, Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Lula Dixon; brother, Edward Dixon; and sister, Katherine Shelton.

Following her graduation from St. Cecilia Academy in Nashville in 1950, Wanda became a postulant, and then member, of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation. She taught in schools in Jackson, Oak Ridge, McEwen, Memphis, Winchester and Nashville. After leaving the congregation in 1975 to care for her family, she taught young children at Dixon Family Day Care in her Hendersonville home. Wanda also served for many years as cook and housekeeper for Msgr. William Bevington, pastor of Our Lady of the Lake parish in Hendersonville. After undergoing a double amputation in 2015, Wanda moved to Life Care Center of Old Hickory Village where she lived until her passing. She donated her body for medical research at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

floral squareVisitation will be at Our Lady of the Lake on Friday, January 31, from 6-8 p.m., with a rosary and vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Memorial Mass will be Saturday, February 1, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake. Interment will follow at a later date. Obituary for Margaret Ann Henderson

Margaret Ann Henderson, age 87 of Guthrie, passed away on Tuesday, January 7th at her home of natural causes.

She was born January 11, 1932 in Stewart County, Tennessee the daughter of the late John E. and Idella Griffin Wetton.

She was a member of the Petrie Memorial UMC and the Todd County Homemakers. She loved her family, sewing and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Wallace Henderson; two brothers Harold and Douglas Wetton and two sisters Opal Anthony and Dorothy Allen. She is survived by two daughters Debbie Crick of Guthrie and Mary Brown of Clarksville; a brother Bruce Wetton of Guthrie; a sister Alice Stamper of Springfield; four grandchildren Christina Lanier of Sevierville, Jenny Holt of Elkton, Cathy Ferrell of Hopkinsville, and Ada Brown of Ridgetop; eight great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.

Funeral service is scheduled to be conducted on Friday, January 10 at 10:00 in the Rose Chapel of the Todd County Funeral Home with Reverends Bill Oliver and Matt Seel officiating. Interment will follow at the Glenwood Cemetery.

Age 86 of White House passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at White House Health Care & Rehab. He was born December 23, 1933 in Nashville, TN to Pearl Thomas & Vera Agnes Bracey Baker. He worked as a self-employed painter before his retirement. He was always laughing and joking. Everyone who knew him considered him to be a very good man. He loved to eat and fellowship with his friends and family. He was a shriner and member of Northwood Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna Maxine Pickle Baker; son, Ronald Lewis Baker; sister, Joyce; half-sister, Jewel; half-brother, Lawrence. He is survived by his son, Randy Lee (Teresa) Baker, Cottontown, TN; daughter, Patsy (Ronnie) Norris, White House, TN; brother, Johnny (Peggy) Baker, Centerville, TN; 4 grandchildren, Todd, Stacy, Jennifer and Samantha; 4 great-grandchildren, Dawson, Kaitlyn, Karter and Isabella; his cat, Callie.

Mrs. Sherry Eastep Wallace, age 83, of White House, TN, formerly of Chapel Hill, TN died Wednesday, January 8, 2020, in White House, TN. Mrs. Wallace was a native of Limestone County, AL, and was a daughter of the late William Jester and Laura Lee Carter Eastep. She was a homemaker and a member of White House Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Lola Taylor Eastep, brothers, Bobby, Kenneth, Lavone, and Larry Eastep, and by grandchildren, Andrew Hodges and Laura Hodges Sanders.

Mrs. Wallace is survived by her husband of 64 years, Mr. William (Bill) Venton Wallace of White House, TN; three daughters, Brenda Gardner of Goodlettsville, TN, Jo Wallace of White House, TN, Sandy Fletcher of White House, TN; five grandchildren, Brandon (Leslee) Kiser, Hubbell (Jay) Purvis, Ryan (Shannon) Fletcher, Shelly (Kevin) Breedlove and Josh (Meagan Smith) Fletcher; six great grandchildren, R.J., Luke and J.J. Fletcher, Jaden Hodges, and Chase and Cheyenne King.

Obituary for Harry Robert Feeney

Harry Robert Feeney, 93, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday January 4, 2020 at The Residence at Alive Hospice.

A private graveside service will be conducted in the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery with Tim Harris officiating. Pallbearers will be Harry R. Feeney, Sean Feeney, Michael Franklin, Frank Wells, Kelton Wells, Shane Franklin. There will be a visitation with the family on Thursday January 9th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home.

Mr. Feeney was born June 29, 1926 in Orange, NJ to the late Harry Raymond and Catherine Belle Cody Feeney. He was a retired Transportation Engineer with Steiner Lift and was of the Catholic faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in both WWII and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Feeney enjoyed working and building model trains. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Kathryn Ann Vietor Feeney, and by his brother: Raymond Eugene Feeney.

Gladys Elizabeth Gibson, 87, of Hermitage, passed away on Friday January 3, 2020 at The Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

Mrs. Gibson was born February 21, 1932 in Springfield to the late Luster Melvin and Katie Reynolds Ledbetter. She was a retired Chef and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Gibson enjoyed cooking, shopping, dancing, fishing, and watching wrestling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Jerry Lee Head.

In Loving Memory Tamara Nakesha Trotter

Gone way too soon, but God had a greater plan for our loved one. Our beloved Tamara Nakesha Trotter was called Home to Eternal Rest on Friday, January 3, 2020 at the tender age of 40. She was born in Springfield, Tennessee on July 19, 1979 to the union of Bobby and Ruth Trotter, both of Springfield, Tennessee.

Tamara, was christened in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost as a child and accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior.

Tamara is preceded in death by her husband, Bryan Thompson whom she loved dearly; grandparents Hulon and Mary Brown, Raymond Trotter Jr.; uncles, Howard Brown and Robert Lawrence Brown; god-parent, Jerry Dunn.

Tamara graduated from Springfield High School, Class of 1997 and attended Nashville College of Medical Careers.

On April 8, 1998, Tamara gave birth to her first child a son, Cameron Diaz Trotter and then on November 2, 1999 to Alexandria NaKole Trotter, these two were the loves of her life.

Tamara had love for her St. John UMC Church Family where she sung in the choir since she was a small child until her departure. Tamara loved people and especially her friends, she always tried to see the good in people and never met a stranger even as a child. She loved her nephews like her own as well as her children’s friends.

Tamara will be greatly missed by not only her children, parents, sisters, nephews and friends near and far, but also her uncles, aunts, cousins and the entire community. She touched so many people’s lives in a way that will live on forever in our hearts and souls. One of her favorite songs was “I Love the Lord” by Whitney Houston which she sang at Christmas time.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Cameron; daughter, Alexandria; father, Bobby Trotter; mother, Ruth Trotter; sister, Tasha Trotter-Cook all of Springfield, TN.; Grandmother, Mary Washington Trotter of Springfield, TN. William Michael Brown, 72, of Adairville, KY, passed from this life on Thursday January 2, 2020 at Skyline Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted Monday January 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Living Word Church in Adairville with Pastor Phil Scott officiating. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery in Adairville. The family will receive friends at Living Word Church on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until service time.

Mr. Brown was born March 6, 1947 in Adairville, KY to the late Ray and Evelyn Parsons Brown. He was a Cosmetologist and a member of Living Word Church. Mr. Brown loved gardening, carpentry, and playing the piano. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Wayne Brown.

Obituary Nancy Ann Johnson

Nancy Ann Johnson, 90, of Springfield, TN, wife of the late Robert Johnson Sr of Hohenwald, TN, passed away Jan 1, 2020 at the White House Healthcare Center. Born in Kokomo, IN, on December 28, 1929, to Walter and Henrietta Lobeck, she grew up in Washington, IN – the daughter of a Lutheran minister. It was in Washington that she would meet and marry Bob in 1950 following his military service during WWII. With Nancy at his side, he pursued industrial engineering and management positions in Indiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Nancy happily dedicated her whole life to her husband, family, and friends. She was active in the community through church, school, and clubs. She was a member of Hohenwald United Methodist Church. She was highly regarded as a congenial and gracious hostess who loved entertaining and had a true talent for down-home cooking that began with her German roots. Nancy learned to enjoy the game of golf from Bob and she eventually matched his hole-in-one with one of her own!

Known as Nano to her grandchildren, she delighted each of them with songs, games, and homemade goodies. From her they learned about faith and love. Nano celebrated her 90th birthday in November with four generations of family! Her sparkling green eyes and radiant smile could not be suppressed by the hands of time.

In addition to her husband Bob, Nancy was predeceased by her brothers Melvin, Walter Jr, and Arthur; sisters Janie and Patsy; and great-granddaughter Mary. Nancy is survived by sons Robert Johnson Jr and wife Michelle of Springfield, TN; Stephen Johnson and wife Kate of Killeen, TX; Lawrence Johnson and wife Rhonda of Seymour, TN; 7 grandchildren, Amy Caruthers of Springfield, TN; Andrew Johnson of Kingwood, TX; Abby Parks of White House, TN; Adam Johnson of Waco, TX; Andolyn Galea of Sparks, NV; Samuel Johnson of Fayetteville, NC; Joseph Johnson of Grand Prairie, TX; 10 great-grandchildren Connor, Cason, Melanie, Frances, Millie Ann, Bridget, Andrew Jr, Alley, William, and Bethany; and brother John of Washington, IN.

Graveside services will be conducted at EverRest of Cheatham in Pleasant View on Sunday, January 12th, at 2:00PM with Bro. Billy Ellis officiating. Mrs. Gower was born on February 10, 1937 in Auburndale, Florida to the late Fredrick and Mary Elizabeth Brown. She was retired from the State of Tennessee and was a member of Heads Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Gower; and brothers Houston, Sonny, Gary, Pete, and Michael Brown.

Survivors include her sons, James Thomas, Jr. “J.T.” Gower, Del Gower; daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” Hunter, Elly Moffet, Karen Schmaing, and Nora (Gary) Bean; sister, Jeanette Sullivan; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

Joann Davis Larkin, age 90, of Greenbrier passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Stone Ridge Healthcare in Ridgetop, TN.

The funeral service was held at 1pm on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home Greenbrier with Bro. Jack Martin officiating. The family received friends 11am until time of the service on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial followed in the Grubbs family cemetery.

She was born in McEwen, TN on February 12, 1929 to the late Robert Clinton and Odie B. Pickard Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James Howard “Mutt” Larkin; brothers, Bob Davis, Bill Davis, Max Davis and sister Jeanette Austin.

She was a member of the Green Ridge Church Christ. She worked as a Secretary at Genesco and was a representative for Napier Jewelry. She was also a stay-at-home mom and loved gardening, working outdoors and cooking. She was an amazing seamstress and was always busy working in her church Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and church camp.

She is survived by son, James “Jim” Larkin of SC; daughter, Carol (Murry) Grubbs of Greenbrier; sister, Beth Burgess of Nashville; grandchildren, Mary Ann (Grady) Lankford, Don Murry Grubbs III, Robert Clinton “Clint” (Jordan) Grubbs; great-grandchildren, Jack and Madison.

Joyce was born October 8, 1945 in Springfield to the late Thomas and Mabel Hooper Brown. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Jo Ann Allen and brother Jerry Brown.

Mrs. Justice is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Eddie Justice; sons Tilden (Misti) Justice and Ashley (Shelley) Justice; grandchildren Elizabeth Justice, Harper Searcy and Everly Justice. She is also survived by a brother Jimmy (Shirley) Brown; sisters Helen West, Wava Lee Gamble, Gloria Smith, brother-in-law Eurtice Allen and many nieces and nephews who will cherish fond memories of her.

Obituary for Ernie F Pyle

Age 62 of Nashville went home to be with the Lord Monday, December 30, 2019 at his sister’s home. He was born March 27, 1957 in Nashville, TN to Frank C. & Opal Agnes Graham Pyle.

Ernie was a happy, gentle soul. He loved visiting the mountains and had always been fascinated with Jeeps and Hummers. In March of this year, a Jeep was purchased for him that he enjoyed driving off the road. It brought him so much joy and happiness in his final days. He was also so excited about the winch that he received for his new Jeep for Christmas. Ernie had been a member of the Metro Parks disabilities group for 43 years, where he enjoyed spending time with his friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank C. & Opal Pyle. He is survived by his loving sister and caregiver, Kelma (Mark) King, Greenbrier, TN; nephews, Jeremy (Jessica) King and Brock (Kasey) King, both of Springfield, TN; niece, Kassie (Eden Ellis) King, Cross Plains, TN; 2 great nephews, Cooper and Tyler King; 2 great-nieces, Claire and Kendall King.

Interment followed in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Nashville with Mark King, Jeremy King, Brock King, Cooper King, Tyler King and Tommy Lageiza serving as pallbearers. Visitation was held Thursday, January 2, 2020 4-8pm and Friday, January 3, 2020 11am until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Obituary for Joyce Roberts

Sandra Joyce Roberts, age 79 of Joelton, Tennessee, died Friday, December 27, 2019 at her home.

Graveside services were conducted at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville at 1 o’clock pm Tuesday, December 31st with Bro. Blake Stiles and Bro. Floyd Reynolds officiating. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

The family received friends at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View from 9:30AM-11:30AM Tuesday, December 31st.

floral squareMrs. Roberts was born on February 20, 1940 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Paul Doris and Callie Fortner Barber. She retired after 28 years with the State of Tennessee working for TDOT and a member of Highland Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Michael Roberts; and a brother, Thomas Barber.

Obituary for Jeffery Ross Sloan

Jeffery Ross Sloan, age 57, of Goodlettsville passed away Friday, December 27, 2019 in Goodlettsville.

The Funeral Service was held at 6pm on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home Greenbrier with Rev. Donnie Bryant officiating. The family received friends 2pm until the hour of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Inurnment followed at Springfield Memorial Gardens at a later date.

He was born May 12, 1962 in Springfield, TN to Linden Ross Sloan and the late Phyllis G. Price Sloan. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Hilman and Rachel Sloan; maternal grandparents, Jesse and Mildred Price and nephew, Steven Ashley Haley.

He was a manager in the grocery industry, loved hunting deer and birds and was a University of Tennessee football fan.

floral squareHe is survived by his father, Linden R. Sloan; stepmother, Patsy Sloan; siblings, Gayle (Steve) Haley, Lisa Sloan, Terry Hudson, Wendy Hudson; Aunt Edna and Uncle Ben Cooksey, Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Jerry Wood and Uncle Jerry Wayne and Aunt Ann Sloan.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Austin & Bell Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses. Arrangements entrusted to Austin & Bell Funeral Home, 2619 Hwy 41S. Greenbrier, TN.

Helen Smith Fischer, age 88, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2019. She was born on January 5, 1931 to the late Sarah and David Smith in Marietta, OH.

Helen is survived by her husband of 64 years, Frederick T. Fischer; her children, Michael L. Fischer and Cathrine (Roger) Schwartz; her granddaughter, Malorie Souza; her brother, Delmar Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
