Obituary for Richard Grant

Richard Lynn Grant, age 55, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020 at his home. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 15, 2020 at 12:30pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Steve Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10am until the hour of service at 12:30pm.

Mr. Grant was born January 21, 1965 in Springfield to the late Mr. Buney Hawkins Grant and Mrs. Jeannette Rippy Grant of Springfield. He worked in the Construction Industry, loved fishing, hunting, wood working, music, and mostly his family.

Obituary for Ethan Shaw

Ethan Zane Shaw, age 2, of Pleasant View, Tennessee entered into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.

A service celebrating Ethan’s life will be held at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in Ashland City, at 4 o’ clock pm on Sunday, June 14th, with Bro. Johnny Minick and Bro. Jon Forrest officiating. A private burial will follow.

The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00PM until the time of service at 4:00PM on Sunday.

Ethan was born on January 11, 2018, in Nashville, Tennessee to Will and Shavona Shaw.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Wayne Binkley “Paw Paw”.

Barry Higdon, age 67, of Cross Plains, died Thursday, June 11, 2020 at his home. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 15, 2020 at 11am in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Pastor Penny Stratton and Chris Stuard officiating. Burial will follow in the Dunn Cemetery with Farris Gillotti, William Elliott, Chris Stuard, Skyler Stuard, Will Elliott, Robert Elliott, Glenn Jackson and Clint Jackson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Jason Stuard, Bob Boyles, Bubba Martin, Ross Ogelsby, and Richard Eschbach.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, June 14, 2020 from 2-6pm and again on Monday from 9am until the service at 11am.

Mr. Higdon was born November 21, 1952 in Hopkinsville, KY to the late Bailey B. and Betty Burney Higdon. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Higdon was of the Baptist Faith.

William “Rocky” Rockford Maitland, age 40 of Greenbrier passed away, Friday, June 12 at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

A Graveside service will be held Friday, June 19th at Greenbrier Cemetery in Greenbrier, TN.

Rocky was born December 8, 1979 to William T. and Pamela Webb Maitland. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James Edward Maitland, Sr. and Ida (Little) Maitland. He had attended Springfield Fellowship in Springfield, TN and was a Machinist at Southeastern Tool & Die where he had been employed since the age of 16. He was a Tennessee Vol fan, loved classic cars, loved his wife and daughter and loved the Lord.

He is survived by his wife, Lindsey DeAnn Frost Maitland of Greenbrier; daughter, Paisleigh Maitland of Greenbrier; parents, William T. and Pamela M. Maitland of Greenbrier; parents-in-law, Kevin (Kimberly) Frost of Olive Branch, MS and David (Jill) Williams of Cross Plains, TN; brother, Clint Maitland of Greenbrier; nieces Penelope and Skyler Maitland of Greenbrier and Uncle Pete (PeeWee) and wife Dianne Maitland of Nashville.

Age 63 passed away Friday, June 12, 2020 in Winter Haven, FL. He was born July 24, 1956 in Louisville, KY to Robert Gene Pacey and Julia Mae Bratcher. He was employed for 20+ years with Classic Printing in Nashville. Keith loved music and played many instruments, wrote gospel music, and he even produced many albums in his career. He loved his family, God and country and he was very patriotic. He was a huge supporter of our President in the 2020 election.

He is preceded in death by his father. Obituary for Thomas Eugene Denning

Thomas Eugene Denning, age 88, passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 11, 2020, at his home in Orlinda, Tennessee. He was born in Orlinda on July 25, 1931 to Joe F. and Maude Ann Jennett Denning. He, his 6 brothers and 4 sisters were raised during the Great Depression and learned the value and necessity of hard work and the importance of family.

He was in the last graduating class of Orlinda High School. Other than a short time of working in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was a farmer all of his life. He was a member of Orlinda Baptist Church. He loved the community of Orlinda and was particularly proud of the young farmers and enjoyed seeing their success and understood their challenges. Most in the community fondly referred to him as “Castro”.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sue Bradley Russell Denning; son, Teddy Dale Cook (Kathy) of Summerville, SC; daughter, Rebecca Anne Mullen of Pleasant View, TN; daughter, Donna Gene Denning Price (Wayne) of Clarksville, TN and brother Paul Henry “Pete” Denning of Orlinda. In addition, he is survived by 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, and close to a hundred nieces and nephews.

Obituary for Joshua Albert Clark

Joshua Albert Clark (April 28, 1980 – June 5, 2020) of Clarksville TN passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2020 in Nashville TN.

Josh was a construction carpenter by trade, plying his skills all over middle Tennessee. He enjoyed fishing, had a wonderful personality and could light up a room with his smile.

Josh’s last act on this earth was to save four others through his organ donation.

Danita Dawn Harris, 61, of Franklin, TN, passed from this life on Saturday June 6, 2020.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday June 11th at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, in Franklin, with Tim Harris officiating. Interment followed in Williamson Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 12 noon until service time at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home.

Dawn was born on March 20, 1959 in Springfield. She was a graduate of Franklin High School Class of 1977 and then graduated from MTSU in 1982. She was a member of the Band of Blue in both college and high school. Dawn was a Financial Analyst with Willis Towers Watson in Nashville. She was a member of the National Association of Insurance Women (NAIW), where she served as a past President of the Nashville Chapter, and was also elected Insurance Woman of the Year for the State of Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her father: Charles David Harris, by her grandparents: Edgar B. (E.B.) and Evangeline Knight Williams, Mary and Hap Alley, Raney Harris, and by her uncle and aunt: Jackie and Brenda Harris.

Obituary for Ann Bruce Nixon

Ann Bruce Nixon was born on November 27, 1924 in Springfield to the late Inez Taylor and George Robert Scott. Her sister, Nell Frances Scott Luckett also preceded her in death.

Ann Bruce married her high school sweetheart, Charles “Nick” Nixon (deceased) on November 10, 1945. They raised three daughters Cindy, (Tim, deceased) Lyle, Oneonta, AL; Amy (Bill) Gibson, Lexington, KY and Scotty (Clyde) Dean, Springfield, TN.

Ann Bruce was a true southern lady, loving, beautiful and confident. She was a supportive and encouraging mother. She was a great entertainer, avid reader, skilled seamstress, and always busy with a project. Ann Bruce was a huge sports fan with her favorite player and team being Larry Bird and the Titans. She and Nick had wonderful friends and a full life. Her family was everything to her. Christmas was a favorite time for Ann Bruce and she truly was Santa Claus. Her grandchildren were one of the greatest joys in her life. Her grandchildren are Taylor (Jenny) Lyle, Lexington, KY; Katie Lyle (Mesa) Carlson, Brentwood, TN; Abby Lyle (Brian) Clawson, Glendale, CA; and Will (Robin) Dean, Nashville, TN. Her family also includes great grandchildren; Andy Lyle, Zane Carlson, Mia Carlson, Sawyer Clawson and a baby Clawson on the way, nieces; Lanelle Luckett (Wink) Glover, Meridian, MS and Nancy Luckett Kelly, Birmingham, AL.

Ann Bruce was a member of First United Methodist Church and her family appreciates their continued support during her illness.

Their personal and loving attention improved our mother’s quality of life in her long battle with dementia. We were blessed for her to be at Springfield Heights these past two years.

Obituary for Glenn Price Gainous

Glenn Price Gainous, 83, of Adairville, KY, passed from this life on Thursday June 4, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Graveside services were conducted Sunday June 7th at 2:00 p.m. in the Gainous Cemetery on Dot Rd. in Adairville, KY with Reverend Clay Burchett officiating. Pallbearers were be Jeremy Gainous, Ivan Gainous, Ezekiel Gainous, Dalton Gainous, Preston Gibson, and Trystan Gibson. Terry Creek served as an honorary pallbearer. The family received friends at the graveside service on Sunday. It is asked that everyone please respect the CDC guidelines by social distancing throughout the cemetery on Sunday as Mr. Glenn’s life is celebrated by all that loved him and that he loved in return. There will be no visitation at the funeral home prior to the graveside service.

Mr. Glenn was born May 3, 1937 in Logan County, KY to the late Jimmy Price and Rebecca McGoldrick Gainous. He served six years in the National Guard Air Force and spent a lifetime of farming and loving his family. Mr. Glenn was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge #17 in Russellville, KY since 1971, the Eastern Starr, and the Shriners Rizpah Temple. He loved spending time at Kentucky Lake and at Lake Okeechobee Florida. In July of this year, he would be married to the love of his life, Murlene Hester Gainous, for 60 years. They both loved to travel and have been in 49 of the 50 U.S. States. Mr. Glenn was a very knowledgeable man and was very much a self-educated person. He loved reading, especially his treasured set of encyclopedias that he found at a yard sale, and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Gilbert Stephen Gainous, by his brothers: Jerry and Donald Gainous, and by his sister: Barbara Knight. Mr. Glenn is survived by his wife: Murlene Hester Gainous of Adairville, KY, by his son: Scott Price Gainous of Adairville, KY, by his daughter-in-law: Brenda floral squareWhite Gainous of Springfield, by his sister: Margie Jenkins of Adairville, KY, by his grandchildren: Corissa Gibson, Jeremy (Lindsay) Gainous, Ivan Gainous, Ezekiel (Brenna) Gainous, Dalton (Kamala) Gainous, and Woodrow Gainous, and by his 10 great grandchildren.

Age 80 of White House passed away Friday, June 12, 2020 at his home. He was born July 19, 1939 in Greenbrier, TN to Leslie Nolan and Vera Mae Anderson Stewart.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as a truck driver for Conway Southern Express until his retirement. Mr. Stewart enjoyed visiting the Mennonite community, fishing and watching and feeding the birds.

Obituary for Kenneth E. Walker “Big Sexy”

Kenneth Eugene “Big Sexy” Walker was born May 30, 1960 to Alma Jean Williams-Walker and the late Joseph Stanley Walker. He transitioned to his Heavenly Home on March 28, 2020.

He was educated in the Robertson County School System and Seattle, Washington School System. Kenneth was an outgoing gentleman. He loved all genres of music. He also enjoyed his sports. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge, Pride of Springfield 125.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, O’Neil Williams and Louise Shannon; uncle, Leslie Williams, and two cousins, Roberta “Pumpkin” Meneese and Billy “Fuzzy” Meneese.

Kenneth leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Alma Jean Williams-Walker; his children, Tettra Gunn of Clarksville, TN, and Andrew Bunton of Auburn, KY; five grandchildren; one sister, Chario Johnson; two brothers, David Walker and Joseph Walker; floral squaredevoted aunt, Ozie “Pee Wee” Garrard; a host of nieces, and nephews; a devoted nephew, D’Sergio Austin and Dalaino Walker; seven devoted friends, Neal Smith, Lynn Thompson, Dez Dowlen, Cedric Terry, Tomiko Woodard, Maria Dishman and Zach Graves; two devoted cousins Ray Johnson and Tyrone Garrard; other relatives and friends.

Obituary for Charles Grant Allen, Sr.

Charles Grant Allen, Sr., age 74 of Hendersonville, passed away at home on Wednesday, June 10, 2020.

Charles Grant was born in Coopers, West Virginia, in 1945 to the late William Franklin “Frank” Allen and Mable Louise (Sorah) Allen. He graduated from Bramwell High School in 1963. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from ABF Trucking Company after many years as a member of the Teamsters Union.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara McCarty Allen; his son, Charles Grant Allen, Jr. (Amber) of Kingsport, TN; his daughter, Robin Lynn Allen; granddaughter, Alexis Allen of Kingsport, TN; a sister, JoAnn Allen Miles of Chattanooga, TN; and a niece, Dee Miles of Chattanooga, TN.

Jeffrey Wayne Jackson, age 63, Hendersonville, TN, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Skyline Medical Center.

He was born in Nashville, TN on July 19, 1956, the son of the late Robert Lee Jackson and Billie Faye Lassiter Jackson. He worked at H. E. Parmer Company as an Estimator and Roofing Manager. He was a simple man who loved his family and friends, loved to read and enjoyed meeting his racing buddies at Hooters. He will be missed by all who loved him.

Billy Ray Beasley, age 67, of Springfield, passed away Monday, June 8, 2020 at The Waters of Robertson.

A Graveside Service was held Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 11am in the Hopewell Cemetery with Brother Jim Woodard officiating. Burial followed with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

No visitation was held prior to the graveside service.

Mr. Beasley was born February 17, 1953 in Noblesville, IN to the late Marvin J. and Beatrice Annie Fisher Beasley. He was a cabinet maker, he loved fishing, cruising around in his truck, and he liked horses.

Age 60 of White House passed away Monday, June 8, 2020 at Hendersonville Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1960 in Bellflower, California to Brian Carlton & Claresia Richardson Hayes.

He worked as a systems analyst/computer programmer for the CDC before becoming disabled. Mr. Hayes had a lifetime affiliation with Boy Scouts of America serving as Pack Master, Scout Leader and teacher for other Leaders in Georgia, Kansas and in Tennessee. He proudly served his country in the United States Marines and was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Hendersonville, TN.

He is preceded in death by his father, Brian Carlton Hayes; step-father, Ralph Ellis. Jean Hubbard Payne, age 88, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2020 at The Waters of Robertson.

A Graveside Service was held Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 2pm in the Elmwood Cemetery with Brother Martin Babb and Brother Bobby Couts officiating. Burial followed with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation was held at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield on Wednesday from 12pm until 1:30pm.

Mrs. Payne was born September 8, 1931 in Nashville to the late William J. and Jewell Wills Hubbard. She was a homemaker and member of the Springfield Baptist Church. She loved animals, reading and wood carving.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Payne is preceded in death by her sister, Gwen Byrd. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bobby B. Payne; daughters, Debbie (Tray) Davis of Pleasant View; floral squareniece, Lori (Bruce) Dean of Murfreesboro; nephew, Bill Dunkerley of Dickson; and grandchildren, Samuel Davis, Ethan Davis and Morgan Davis.

Obituary for James Larry Cole

James Larry Cole, age 66 of Gallatin, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2020.

James was born on September 18, 1953 at Nashville General Hospital in Nashville. He was the seventh child of nine siblings. He spent most of his life in Sumner County. He worked for Oscar Mayer 19 years and the rest of his career as a mechanic. His customers loved him and trusted only him to do their work.

He loved his country music and would play guitar with his family at sing-alongs. James and his wife loved singing karaoke together. He loved drag racing and pitching horseshoes. Everyone who knew him loved him because he was such a nice guy, and a funny guy that you could not be around without laughing.

He loved his family, God, and his grandbabies. Any child that met him treated him like he was their own special toy.

He is preceded in death by his father, John William and mother, Dona Choate; brother, Ray Collins; sisters, Becky Parker and Joyce Terry; brother, Wayne Cole; and his grandparents, Paul Cole and Emma Cole.

James is survived by his wife of 36 years, Clara Gail Cole; sons, Jammie Cole (Teresa), Jimmy Cole (Angie), Jason Trew (Lori); daughter, Stephanie McCrary (Heath); seven grandchildren, Haleigh Trew, Hayden Trew, Koltin McCrary, Michael Cole, Hannah Cole, Kayla McCrary, and Hattie-Mae Cole; brothers, Johnny Cole (Shelia), and Larry Collins (Grace); sisters, Shirley Lee and Pat Cummings; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.

Age 88 went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 6, 2020 at his home. Joe was born May 8, 1932 in Springfield, TN to Virgil Costello and Velma Corinne Rawls Pratt.

He worked in auto sales for The Car Place before his retirement. He loved singing and listening to Southern gospel music and sang with several quartets during his lifetime, including the Goodnewsmen Quartet. He was a dedicated member of Temple Baptist Church and the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class. He was very proud that he had been a choir member for 72 years and was always very active in all church activities.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ann Crabtree Pratt; 2 brothers, Glenn Pratt and Billy Pratt; daughter-in-law, Bernadette Hinkle; brother-in-law, Jerry Smith. He retired from Lucent Technologies after more than 30 years of service. Mr. Moore was a lifetime member of CWA. He was known to his AT&T friend as “Rummy”. He was an avid golfer, loved Vanderbilt basketball, was a Nashville Predators fan and loved watching Westerns on television, especially Gunsmoke.

Betty Woodson Hogan, age 82 of Pleasant View, Tennessee, died Friday, June 5, 2020 at Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville.

Funeral services were held at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 1 o’ clock pm on Monday, June 8th, with Pastor Blake Stiles officiating. A private family burial followed at Dowlen Cemetery with Landon Hogan, Jackson Hogan, Grant Runyan, Kate Runyan, Josh Stuart, Jesse Stuart, and Larry Lewelling serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends at the funeral home from 1:00PM until 6:00PM on Sunday, June 7, and again on Monday, from 12 Noon until the hour of service at 1:00PM.

Mrs. Hogan was born on September 25, 1937, in Cheatham County, Tennessee to the late Cecil and Elizabeth Walton Woodson. She taught in Christian education at Murfreesboro, Pulaski, and Inglewood First Methodist Schools. After teaching, she was a homemaker while her children were young. Mrs. Hogan also taught Sunday School and Bible School for over 40 years, and was a member for over 50 years at Highland Chapel Baptist Church.

Billy Glenn Cothran, age 84, of Cedar Hill, Tennessee, died June 3, 2020 at his home.

Joey Myers and Bro. Cecil Boswell officiating. Curtis Cothran, Brian Cothran, Stephen Cothran, Blake Atkinson, Spencer Cothran, and Carl Cothern served as pallbearers.

Mr. Cothran was born on April 24, 1936, in Ashland City, Tennessee to the late Edward and Goldie Perry Cothran. He was retired as a truck driver for over 30 years and loved to farm. He loved to grow sweet potatoes and was known to some as the “watermelon man”. After retiring, one of his hobbies was making musical instruments. He was a member of Friendship Free Will Baptist Church and currently attending Liberty Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Dianne Noffsinger and Barbara Jayne Binkley.

He was also preceded in death by mate Aubrey Elise Osbourne, the mother of his children. He worked at Ashburn Property Maintenance and was a fan of the “TN Vols” and the “49ers”.

Codie was born September 6, 1988. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Greenbrier. He enjoyed farming and fishing. The highlight of Codie’s life was spending time with his son Noah. Age 88 of Springfield, TN passed away Monday, June 1, 2020 at the Residence of Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. He was born October 12, 1931 in Jackson County, TN to John Leslie & Letchie Mae Dixon Blankenship. James was the owner of Acme School Supply Company for more than 35 years and was involved in many community projects. He was a horse enthusiast, enjoying raising and showing Tennessee Walking Horses. He was a member of NSSEA and the Tennessee Walking Horse Association. Graduating from Jackson County High School, he went on to attend Tennessee Tech and then served in the US Army during the Korean War. James was also a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 54 years, Alice West; 2 sisters, Edna McCawley and Polly Murphy; daughter-in-law, Brenda Bean; son-in-law, Richard Chopyak. He is survived by stepson, Gerald G. Bean, White House, TN; stepdaughter, Harolene Chopyak, Scottsdale, AZ; his beautiful 93 year old sister, Frances Cassetty, Jackson County, TN; several loving nieces and nephews.

Obituary for Nancy Jo Bishop Glaus

Nancy Jo Bishop Glaus, formerly of West Palm Beach, Florida passed away at the age of 74 on Monday, June 1, 2020. Nancy was born in Memphis, TN and grew up in Savannah, TN.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Freeman Bishop; father, Joe Bishop; son, Andrew Glaus; husband of 49 years, C. Henry Glaus. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Linda Hagewood, White House, TN, Patricia (Jerry) Simons, Pasadena, TX; nieces, Jennie (Keegan) Graham, Pasadena, TX and Melissa (Tim) St. Martin, College Station, TX; nephews, Keith (Christy) Hagewood, White House, TN and Matthew (Danielle) Hagewood, Cottontown, TN; six great nieces, four great nephews and several cousins.

Nancy received her BA degree from Tennessee Technological University, where she met and married Henry in their senior year. Following graduation, they moved to Nashville, where she taught at the elementary school level for several years. Following Henry’s career path, they later moved to Maryville, TN and on to Florida, where they resided until Henry’s death in 2016.

Nancy loved her family very much, caring for her mother, who lived with them in Florida for 18 years following her fathers death. She volunteered much of her time at Joel’s school, where he was active in the band and other activities. Nancy was devastated by Joel’s death in 2015 and then losing Henry one year later. Following Henry’s death, Nancy moved to Springfield, TN, where she resided at Springfield Heights Assisted Living. She made friendships and became fond of several of the ladies there, including the staff.

Obituary for Florence Alline Martin

Florence Alline Martin, age 97 of Hendersonville, went to be with the Lord on June 1, 2020.

She was born to Zack Taylor Martin and Vera Mai McMurtry Martin on February 6, 1923, in Hendersonville. Ms. Martin was Credit Manager for A & J Furniture in Nashville prior to her retirement. She served as Secretary/Treasurer of Shallowford Pentecostal Church for over 70 years. Alline was a Gallatin High School graduate. She was lovingly known to her entire family as ‘Auntie’.

Ms. Martin was preceded in death by her parents, Zack Taylor Martin and Vera Mai Martin of Hendersonville, Tennessee; brother, Robert Steven Martin (Tiny May) of Hendersonville; sisters, Nellie Blanche (Dewey) Clendening of Hendersonville and Lillian Inez (Chester) Adams of White House, Tennessee; long-time companion, Paul E. Adams of Hendersonville; nieces, Rebecca Jane (Robert A.) Blair, Betty Davis, Fay (Paul) Brinkley, Brenda Amons, and Robbie (John) Wix; and nephews, William Howard Martin and Bobby Gann.

Ms. Martin left behind nieces, Peggy Troutt, Barbara Dean Hornal, Inez (James) Hardison, Wanda Phillips and Charline Martin; a nephew, Bubba (Jackie) Martin; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation with her family was held on Thursday, June 4, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and again on Friday, June 5, from 10:00am until her Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Hendersonville with Dr. Robert B. Blair, Rev. Timothy C. Hardison and Rev. Jim Murrell officiating.

Peggy Jo Roe, age 68 of Chapmansboro, Tennessee died Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Peggy’s remains were cremated and there was no services planned.

Mrs. Roe was born on October 23, 1951 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Harry and Clemmie Carptner Law. She retired as a correctional officer.

Jackie Ray Dobbs, age 70, of Hendersonville, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020.

He was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Antioch. He had a wonderful sense of humor and he loved his family very much. He loved hard and he loved to be loved, and he was in love with music. He had an amazing voice that the Choir of Angels is now honored with.

Jackie was preceded in death by his father, Paul Thomas Dobbs; his mother, Ruby Fuqua Dobbs; and sister, Judy Dobbs Latimer. He is survived by his wife of 10½ years, Suzanne O. Dobbs; daughters, Shellee (Terry) Catignani, Leslie (Steven ) Burrow and stepdaughter, Audrey (Bryan) Phalen; stepson, Mark Roberts; sisters, Janice floral squareCleveland of Hendersonville and Joyce Brigham of McMinnville; brother, Jerry Dobbs of Midway, Georgia; grandchildren, Claire, Andrew (Drew) and Carmen Catignani, Makenzie, Mazie and Baylor Burrow, Zoe and Parker Phalen.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Sara Wilkinson; son, William G. Wilkinson, Jr; and brother, Wendell Wilkinson.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Wilkinson; sons, Franklin (Michelle) Wilkinson, Andy (Teri) Wilkinson; daughter, Gwen McCollum; grandchildren, Jessica (Shawn) Gordy, Drew (Liz) Wilkinson, Drew McCollum, Andrea McCollum, and Amelia Grace Wilkinson; great-grandchildren, Makenzie Gordy, Madison Gordy, and Mace Gordy.

Kaylor Ryan Scudder, age 29 of Hendersonville, TN passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020.

Kaylor was born on June 16, 1990 to Richard and Julie Scudder. He graduated from Hendersonville High School in 2009 and MTSU in 2013.

Kaylor possessed an unwavering kindness that was ever present. His loyalty and generosity complimented his thoughtful and gentle spirit. Through his battle against cancer, he remained brave and selfless, always trying to protect the ones he loved. He will be remembered for his self-proclaimed “great” sense of humor and the love that was in his heart.

Kaylor is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Ann Scudder, and maternal grandfather, Walt Ray.

Kaylor is survived by his parents, Richard and Julie Ray Scudder; brother and sister-in-law, Kyle and Heather; sister, Anna; maternal grandmother, Barbara Ray; and paternal grandparents, Frank and Mary Nell Scudder.

Visitation with his family was held on Wednesday, June 3, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and again on Thursday, June 4, from 10:00am until his Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Hendersonville with Dave Culbreath officiating.

Obituary for Kathy Ayers

Kathy Brown Ayers, age 62, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020 at The Waters of Robertson.

Funeral services were held  Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 2pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Michael Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Greenwood Cemetery in Adairville with Jonathan Brown, James Brown, Adam Stevenson, Joe Finley and Christopher Zentz serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Justis Osborne and Gary Ayers, II.

Visitation was held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12pm until the hour of service at 2pm.

Ms. Ayers was born October 20, 1957 in Russellville, KY to the late William Thomas and Nancy Gibbs Brown. She loved painting, birds and collecting trinkets of birds, but especially loved her family.

In addition to her parents Ms. Brown is preceded in death by her sisters, Ruby Brown and Joyce Brown Corbin and her brothers, Jimmy Brown and Ronnie Brown.

Harold D. McIntosh, age 90 of Lebanon passed away Friday, May 29, 2020 at Wilson Manor.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, June 3rd at Springfield Memorial Gardens with Ronnie Ellis officiating.

He was born in Adairville, KY on March 1, 1930 to the late Curtis and Mattie Lou Hines McIntosh. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Reba Lee Watts McIntosh and a brother, Wayne McIntosh.

He was a technician at Electrolux and a member of Northside Baptist Church in Murfreesboro. He loved deep sea fishing, gardening, breakfast at Hardee’s and last but not least, he loved his family.

He is survived by daughter, Debbie M. (Ronnie) Ellis of Murfreesboro; brother, Robert Jewel McIntosh of Portland and granddaughter, Courtney L. Ellis of Murfreesboro

Obituary for Anne Swann

Anne Denning Swann, age 92, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020 at NorthCrest Medical Center.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 31, 2020 at 3pm at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She was laid to rest in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Benton Swann, Nathan Swann, Mac Swann, Wilson Swann, Brad Keith and Joe Letsinger serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Swann was born May 12, 1928 in Orlinda to the late Andrew “Jerry” and Nellie Hancock Denning. She was the Valedictorian for the Cross Plains High School Class of 1946 and was the secretary at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for 26 years where she was a member.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Caner Swann, her sister, Helen Turner, and her beloved aunt, Margarette Swann. Mrs. Swann is survived by her son and daughter-in-law,Joe and Vicki Swann of Springfield;sister, Linda floral squareCotter of Orlando FL;and grandchildren, Jenna Lea Swann, Benton CanerSwann and Nathan Thomas Swann. Obituary for Rev Robert Edward LeMay

Age 91, of Springfield, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 28, 2020 at his home. He was born November 29, 1928 in Memphis, TN to Charles Wesley & Gertrude Morgan LeMay. Bro. LeMay felt the call on his life to preach the gospel while driving a milk truck. He answered God’s call and was ordained as a minister on August 15, 1953. He pastored several churches in his more than 67 years of ministry. Some of those included Republican Grove Baptist, Murfreesboro, TN 1956-1958, Barfield Baptist Church, Barfield, TN 1958-1961, Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Baker, FL 1961-1964, Calvary Baptist Church, Allentown, FL 1964-1967, Eastwood Baptist Church, Nashville, TN 1967-1974. Rock Springs Baptist Church, Columbia, TN 1974-1977, Harsh Chapel Baptist Church, Nashville, TN 1977-1989, Bethlehem Baptist Church Springfield, TN 1989-1997 and Cherry Mound Baptist Church 1998-2015. He was a great painter and enjoyed painting church baptistries. He built wooden trucks by hand and also became a chalk art pastor, sharing the gospel through art. Bro. LeMay was always eager to lend a helping hand to anyone and truly had the heart of a servant, a true “pastor’s heart”. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 64 years, Ruby Joan LeMay; daughter, Harriet Inez LeMay; son-in-law, Gary Johnson; 3 brothers, Charles, Jack and Jimmy; 2 sisters, Lavern and Frances. He is survived by his son, Charles Nathan LeMay, Virginia; daughter, Millie Johnson, Springfield, TN; brother, Hiram (Jesse) LeMay, Ooltewah, TN; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; special great granddaughter, Kristin (David) Kane.

Obituary for Michael Roberts

Michael Harvey Roberts, age 80 of Joelton, Tennessee died Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

A Graveside service was held at 3 o’ clock pm on Monday, June 1st at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Nashville with Pastor Blake Stiles officiating. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

The family received friends at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View from 11:30AM-1:30PM on Monday, June 1st and then proceed to Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery for the graveside service at 3:00PM.

Mr. Roberts was born on February 16, 1940 in Dawson Springs, Kentucky, to the late William Harvey and Mary Catherine Woodward Roberts. He was retired with over 20 years as a salesman with IBM and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a guitarist and musician and performed with a lot of famous people. He was a member of Highland Chapel Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Roberts and brother-in-law, Floyd Robinson.
