Obituary for Ross Enloe Kell

Ross Enloe Kell, age 95 of Hendersonville, passed away on June 2, 2020. He was born on June 19, 1924 in Spencer, TN.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Smith Denton Kell and Bonnie Heady Kell; his sisters, Minnie Nolan Kell and Sammy Baker; his wife, Rachel Geisler Kell; and his daughter, Katherine Harris (Kell).

floral squareHe is survived by his children, Bonnie Helen Pack, Ross Allen Kell (Betsy), Jama Elizabeth Matheney (Danny), Jonathan Shelby Kell (Starr), and Joseph Calvin Kell; 19 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

There will be a visitation for friends and family at 1:00pm with services to follow at 3:00pm on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Austin and Bell Funeral Home in Hendersonville, TN.

Obituary for Larry Wayne Haley Jr

Larry Wayne Haley, Jr., age 39 of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2020 at his home.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at 11am in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Bro. David Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Warren-Brinkley Cemetery with Michael Jackson, John Worsham, Nan Yates, Robert Butterworth, Greg Hopkins, Brian Keith, Bubba Knight and Thomas Mooneyhan serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9am until the hour of service at 11am.

Mr. Haley was born May 18, 1981 in Nashville to the late Larry Wayne Haley, Sr. and Mrs. Gloria Forrest Haley of Springfield. He was also preceded in death by mate Aubrey Elise Osbourne, the mother of his children. He worked at Ashburn Property Maintenance and was a fan of the “TN Vols” and the “49ers”.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Jaxson A. Haley of Springfield; daughter, Darrlyin R. Haley of Springfield; brother, Michael Jackson of Madison; special friend, Toni Parks and his dachshund and best friend, “Angel”.

Jeffrey Wayne Reason, age 43 passed away, Tuesday June 2, 2020 at his residence.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, June 8th at 4 pm at Austin & Bell Funeral Home Springfield. The family will receive friends from 1pm to 4pm at the funeral home on Monday, June 8.
Jeff was born in Springfield, TN on December 22, 1976 to Jerry Lee Reason, Sr and the late Connie Marie Arms Reason. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Marie Reason.

Codie Dewayne Adams, 31, of Greenbrier, passed away on Monday June 1, 2020. (In the Media)

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday June 6th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Donnie Bryant and Reverend Bob Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Everyone is asked to respect the CDC guidelines for social distancing.

Codie was born September 6, 1988. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Greenbrier. He enjoyed farming and fishing. The highlight of Codie’s life was spending time with his son Noah. Codie was preceded in death by his mother: Kerrie Rippy Adams, and by his grandparents: Jerry Adams, Charlotte Garrison, and Jerry Lynn Rippy.

Obituary for James Dixon Blankenship

Age 88 of Springfield, TN passed away Monday, June 1, 2020 at the Residence of Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. He was born October 12, 1931 in Jackson County, TN to John Leslie & Letchie Mae Dixon Blankenship. James was the owner of Acme School Supply Company for more than 35 years and was involved in many community projects. He was a horse enthusiast, enjoying raising and showing Tennessee Walking Horses. He was a member of NSSEA and the Tennessee Walking Horse Association. Graduating from Jackson County High School, he went on to attend Tennessee Tech and then served in the US Army during the Korean War. James was also a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 54 years, Alice West; 2 sisters, Edna McCawley and Polly Murphy; daughter-in-law, Brenda Bean; son-in-law, Richard Chopyak. He is survived by stepson, Gerald G. Bean, White House, TN; stepdaughter, Harolene Chopyak, Scottsdale, AZ; his beautiful 93 year old sister, Frances Cassetty, Jackson County, TN; several loving nieces and nephews.

Obituary for Nancy Jo Bishop Glaus

Nancy Jo Bishop Glaus, formerly of West Palm Beach, Florida passed away at the age of 74 on Monday, June 1, 2020. Nancy was born in Memphis, TN and grew up in Savannah, TN.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Freeman Bishop; father, Joe Bishop; son, Andrew Glaus; husband of 49 years, C. Henry Glaus. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Linda Hagewood, White House, TN, Patricia (Jerry) Simons, Pasadena, TX; nieces, Jennie (Keegan) Graham, Pasadena, TX and Melissa (Tim) St. Martin, College Station, TX; nephews, Keith (Christy) Hagewood, White House, TN and Matthew (Danielle) Hagewood, Cottontown, TN; six great nieces, four great nephews and several cousins.

Nancy received her BA degree from Tennessee Technological University, where she met and married Henry in their senior year. Following graduation, they moved to Nashville, where she taught at the elementary school level for several years. Following Henry’s career path, they later moved to Maryville, TN and on to Florida, where they resided until Henry’s death in 2016.

Nancy loved her family very much, caring for her mother, who lived with them in Florida for 18 years following her fathers death. She volunteered much of her time at Joel’s school, where he was active in the band and other activities. Nancy was devastated by Joel’s death in 2015 and then losing Henry one year later. Following Henry’s death, Nancy moved to Springfield, TN, where she resided at Springfield Heights Assisted Living. She made friendships and became fond of several of the ladies there, including the staff.

Florence Alline Martin, age 97 of Hendersonville, went to be with the Lord on June 1, 2020.

She was born to Zack Taylor Martin and Vera Mai McMurtry Martin on February 6, 1923, in Hendersonville. Ms. Martin was Credit Manager for A & J Furniture in Nashville prior to her retirement. She served as Secretary/Treasurer of Shallowford Pentecostal Church for over 70 years. Alline was a Gallatin High School graduate. She was lovingly known to her entire family as ‘Auntie’.

Ms. Martin was preceded in death by her parents, Zack Taylor Martin and Vera Mai Martin of Hendersonville, Tennessee; brother, Robert Steven Martin (Tiny May) of Hendersonville; sisters, Nellie Blanche (Dewey) Clendening of Hendersonville and Lillian Inez (Chester) Adams of White House, Tennessee; long-time companion, Paul E. Adams of Hendersonville; nieces, Rebecca Jane (Robert A.) Blair, Betty Davis, Fay (Paul) Brinkley, Brenda Amons, and Robbie (John) Wix; and nephews, William Howard Martin and Bobby Gann.

Ms. Martin left behind nieces, Peggy Troutt, Barbara Dean Hornal, Inez (James) Hardison, Wanda Phillips and Charline Martin; a nephew, Bubba (Jackie) Martin; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jackie Ray Dobbs, age 70, of Hendersonville, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020.

He was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Antioch. He had a wonderful sense of humor and he loved his family very much. He loved hard and he loved to be loved, and he was in love with music. He had an amazing voice that the Choir of Angels is now honored with.

Jackie was preceded in death by his father, Paul Thomas Dobbs; his mother, Ruby Fuqua Dobbs; and sister, Judy Dobbs Latimer. He is survived by his wife of 10½ years, Suzanne O. Kaylor Ryan Scudder, age 29 of Hendersonville, TN passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020.

Kaylor was born on June 16, 1990 to Richard and Julie Scudder. He graduated from Hendersonville High School in 2009 and MTSU in 2013.

Kaylor possessed an unwavering kindness that was ever present. His loyalty and generosity complimented his thoughtful and gentle spirit. Through his battle against cancer, he remained brave and selfless, always trying to protect the ones he loved. He will be remembered for his self-proclaimed “great” sense of humor and the love that was in his heart.

Kaylor is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Ann Scudder, and maternal grandfather, Walt Ray.

Kaylor is survived by his parents, Richard and Julie Ray Scudder; brother and sister-in-law, Kyle and Heather; sister, Anna; maternal grandmother, Barbara Ray; and paternal grandparents, Frank and Mary Nell Scudder.

Ms. Ayers was born October 20, 1957 in Russellville, KY to the late William Thomas and Nancy Gibbs Brown. She loved painting, birds and collecting trinkets of birds, but especially loved her family.

Harold D. McIntosh, age 90 of Lebanon passed away Friday, May 29, 2020 at Wilson Manor.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 3rd at Springfield Memorial Gardens with Ronnie Ellis officiating.

He was born in Adairville, KY on March 1, 1930 to the late Curtis and Mattie Lou Hines McIntosh. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Reba Lee Watts McIntosh and a brother, Wayne McIntosh.

He was a technician at Electrolux and a member of Northside Baptist Church in Murfreesboro. He loved deep sea fishing, gardening, breakfast at Hardee’s and last but not least, he loved his family.

He is survived by daughter, Debbie M. (Ronnie) Ellis of Murfreesboro; brother, Robert Jewel McIntosh of Portland and granddaughter, Courtney L. Ellis of Murfreesboro

Obituary for Anne Swann

Anne Denning Swann, age 92, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020 at NorthCrest Medical Center.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 31, 2020 at 3pm at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She was laid to rest in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Benton Swann, Nathan Swann, Mac Swann, Wilson Swann, Brad Keith and Joe Letsinger serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Swann was born May 12, 1928 in Orlinda to the late Andrew “Jerry” and Nellie Hancock Denning. She was the Valedictorian for the Cross Plains High School Class of 1946 and was the secretary at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for 26 years where she was a member.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Caner Swann, her sister, Helen Turner, and her beloved aunt, Margarette Swann. Mrs. Swann is survived by her son and daughter-in-law,Joe and Vicki Swann of Springfield;sister, Linda floral squareCotter of Orlando FL;and grandchildren, Jenna Lea Swann, Benton CanerSwann and Nathan Thomas Swann. Obituary for Rev Robert Edward LeMay

Age 91, of Springfield, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 28, 2020 at his home. He was born November 29, 1928 in Memphis, TN to Charles Wesley & Gertrude Morgan LeMay. Bro. LeMay felt the call on his life to preach the gospel while driving a milk truck. He answered God’s call and was ordained as a minister on August 15, 1953. He pastored several churches in his more than 67 years of ministry. Some of those included Republican Grove Baptist, Murfreesboro, TN 1956-1958, Barfield Baptist Church, Barfield, TN 1958-1961, Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Baker, FL 1961-1964, Calvary Baptist Church, Allentown, FL 1964-1967, Eastwood Baptist Church, Nashville, TN 1967-1974. Rock Springs Baptist Church, Columbia, TN 1974-1977, Harsh Chapel Baptist Church, Nashville, TN 1977-1989, Bethlehem Baptist Church Springfield, TN 1989-1997 and Cherry Mound Baptist Church 1998-2015. He was a great painter and enjoyed painting church baptistries. He built wooden trucks by hand and also became a chalk art pastor, sharing the gospel through art. Bro. LeMay was always eager to lend a helping hand to anyone and truly had the heart of a servant, a true “pastor’s heart”. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 64 years, Ruby Joan LeMay; daughter, Harriet Inez LeMay; son-in-law, Gary Johnson; 3 brothers, Charles, Jack and Jimmy; 2 sisters, Lavern and Frances. He is survived by his son, Charles Nathan LeMay, Virginia; daughter, Millie Johnson, Springfield, TN; brother, Hiram (Jesse) LeMay, Ooltewah, TN; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; special great granddaughter, Kristin (David) Kane.

Michael Harvey Roberts, age 80 of Joelton, Tennessee died Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

A Graveside service was held at 3 o’ clock pm on Monday, June 1st at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Nashville with Pastor Blake Stiles officiating. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

The family received friends at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View from 11:30AM-1:30PM on Monday, June 1st and then proceed to Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery for the graveside service at 3:00PM.

Mr. Roberts was born on February 16, 1940 in Dawson Springs, Kentucky, to the late William Harvey and Mary Catherine Woodward Roberts. He was retired with over 20 years as a salesman with IBM and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a guitarist and musician and performed with a lot of famous people. He was a member of Highland Chapel Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Roberts and brother-in-law, Floyd Robinson.

Jerry Albert Nicholson, age 63, of Cedar Hill, Tennessee, died Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield.

Funeral services were held at 1 o’ clock pm on Saturday, May 30th at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Pastor Randy Riggs and Pastor Mike Hollis officiating. Burial followed in EverRest of Cheatham with Richie Nicholson, Freddie Burcham, Robert “Boo” Watts, Landon Weinberg, Nathanial Benson, and B.J. Nicholson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Watts and David “Spanky” Spicer.

The family received friends at the funeral home from 10:00AM until the hour of service at 1:00PM on Saturday, May 30th.

Jerry was born on September 23, 1956 in Ashland City, Tennessee to the late James Albert and Rebecca Hardin Nicholson. He was a farmer and enjoyed fishing and working in his vegetable garden. He was especially fond of his chickens and was of the Free Will Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Garry “Frog” Nicholson; and his sister, Sandra Ann Brown.

Obituary for Tommy Hale

Thomas Elliott “Tommy” Hale, age 76 of Springfield passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020.

There was an informal Visitation Memorial, Saturday, May 30th from 10 am to 2 pm at Austin & Bell Funeral Home Greenbrier.
Tommy was born in Nashville, TN on March 27, 1944 to the late Glen and Elizabeth Elliott Hale. He was preceded in death by a sister, Terry Ann Hale.

He was a Veteran of the US Army and a member of the Greenbrier Post 45 of the American Legion. He loved riding motorcycles (48 states and Canada), working on cars or anything with a motor in it. He also loved fishing, the beach, fast cars and Corvettes.

Donald Ray Brummett, age 67, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.

No services are planned at this time.

Mr. Brummett was born April 6, 1953 in Russellville, Kentucky to the late William and Louise Brummett. He worked in the Maintenance Department of Ridgetop Haven.

In addition to his parents Mr. Brummett is preceded in death by his twin brother, Ronald Brummett.

Mr. Brummett is survived by his life partner of more than 30 years, Betty Blackburn. Mr. Brummett is also survived by a multitude of extended family and friends who will all miss him every day.

Obituary Kenneth Lee Reynolds

Kenneth Lee Reynolds, 67, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020 at Skyline Medical Center.

Memorial services will be conducted Friday June 5th at 3:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Monty Stewart, Buddy Duffer, Randy Holland, Ricky Balthrop, Michael Cobb and Clyde Dean. Mr. Reynolds was born October 16, 1952 in Springfield to the late James Edward and Louise Priest Reynolds. He was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1971. He worked in automotive repair. Kenneth and his father established an auto repair business in Springfield until his father’s retirement. He married Angela Cook on August 17, 1973 and together they raised their family. Kenneth enjoyed spending time with his friends, fishing, barbequing and playing pool. After retirement, he enjoyed cruising the back country roads with friends enjoying the sites and nature.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Jessie Brinley and Bruce Robertson; sons, Jackie Wayne Brinley and John Mark Brinley; brother, Bobbie Hillard; and sisters, Lillian Gillingham, Oberlan Johnson, and Della Ann Watson.

Daniel Lildred “Dan” Taylor, 73, of Greenbrier, passed away on Sunday May 24, 2020 at his home.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday May 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the Covenant Confirmers Church, 300 10th Ave. E in Springfield, with Pastor Ron Baptiste officiating. Interment was at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday in the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. The family received friends at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Mr. Taylor was born November 22, 1946 in Nashville to the late George Daniel and Mildred Louise Pursel Taylor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during Vietnam, was a retired service rep with the automotive industry, and was a member of Covenant Confirmers Church in Springfield. Mr. Taylor loved wood working and motorcycles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Gary Taylor, and by his sister: Wanda Gann.

Leonard Ray “Len” Pate, 88, of Ashland City and formerly of Springfield, passed away on Sunday May 24, 2020 at Vantage Pointe Assisted Living in Ashland City.

Graveside services were conducted Wednesday May 27th at 1:00 p.m. in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Reverend Dr. Jason Wilkerson officiating. Family members served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the Jim Porter Sunday School Class of Springfield First United Methodist Church. The family received friends on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home. It was asked that everyone respect the CDC guidelines of social distancing.

Mr. Pate was born August 10, 1931 in Hollywood, AL to the late Colonel L. and Ester Bell Stone Pate. He was a retired Warrant Officer with the U.S. Army, with over 21 years of service. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for his service in Korea. Mr. Pate was a member of Springfield First United Methodist Church. He was followed in death by his wife, Freda Long Pate, who died just 11 hours after his death.

Pauline “Polly” Holmes Smith, 93, of Springfield, passed from this life on Friday May 22, 2020 at North Crest Health.

A private family burial was held on Saturday May 23rd in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Brother Martin Babb officiating. There was no public visitation.

Mrs. Smith was born December 22, 1926 in Orlinda to the late Paul and Irene Smart Holmes. She was a graduate of Orlinda High School, a homemaker, and a member of Springfield Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith enjoyed playing Bridge and she had an infectious laugh that she shared with all that knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Marvin L. Smith, Jr., who died on Monday, May 18th, of this week, and by her brother: Harry Holmes.

Myles Owens, Jr., 52, of Springfield, passed away on Friday May 22, 2020 at Centennial Medical Center.

His remains were cremated and the family with have a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at a future date.

Myles was born January 4, 1968 in Nashville to the late Myles “M.B.” and Lorine Guthrie Owens. He worked for Metro Government in Sanitation and Recycling. Myles was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He loved spending time with all of his family, especially with his three brothers/best friends since Junior High School.

W.J. Puckett, age 86, of Coopertown, Tennessee, died Sunday, May 24, 2020, at his home.

Mr. Puckett was born on April 27, 1934 in Smithville, Tennessee to the late Herbert and Myrtle Foutch Puckett. He was retired from the Aladdin Corporation where he worked as a machine operator. He loved to bowl and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Erma Hasty; brother, James Puckett; sisters, Nina Bain and Motie Shadowens; and step-son, Billy Hasty.

Obituary for Janice Elizabeth Osysko

Age 73 of White House passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020 at her home. She was born July 9, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois to Fred and Irene Gramann Osysko.

She retired after 51 years of service as a secretary for the FBI. She was dedicated to her job. She collected teddy bears, rescued basset hounds and was of the Lutheran faith.

She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her cousin, John (Gaby) Socha, White House, TN.
