Obituary for Donnie Reid, Jr.

Donnie McKellon Reid, Jr., age 71, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021 at his home. Mr. Reid’s remains will be cremated and no services are planned at this time.

Mr. Reid was born January 4, 1950 to the late Donnie M. and Josephine James Reid, Sr. He worked as an electrician. He loved gardening, canning, fishing and camping.

In addition to his parents Mr. Reid is preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Reid and Jeff Reid.

Age 55 of Cottontown passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 at Hendersonville Medical Center. She was born September 17, 1965 in Springfield, TN to James Robert Jernigan and Anna Kay Bloodworth. She had worked as a manager for Frost Arnett. She enjoyed spending time with her family more than anything else.

She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Joe Ragland, Cottontown, TN; sons, Michael (Ashley) Ragland and Dalton Thomas; 3 grandchildren, Hannah Ragland, Reid Ragland and Bailee Ragland.

Obituary for James Robert Mayfield

James Robert Mayfield, known to most as Jimmy or Jim Bob, passed away on Saturday June 19, 2021, at Hendersonville Medical Center. At his request, his remains will be cremated, and the family will have a Celebration of Life service at a future date.

Jimmy was born October 21, 1959, in Phoenix, AZ to the late James and Opal Lambert Mayfield. He retired from Electrolux in Springfield, and he also worked as a sales associate at Springfield Wal Mart. Jimmy was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed pyrography and spending time with his family. He was always a hard worker and wanted to make sure that the ones he loved were taken care of. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Maryanne Mayfield Heatherly.

Russell Ray Dillehay, 81, of Adairville, KY, passed away on Saturday June 19, 2021, at NHC Healthcare Center in Springfield.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday June 22nd at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Carl Freudenthal officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Adairville, KY with Jack Engler, Tommy Engler, David Spencer, Bruce Traughber, Jeff Traughber, and Ricardo Euraque serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the Robertson County Funeral Home.

Mr. Dillehay was born July 4, 1939, in Adairville, KY. He was a retired machine operator with General Motors and was a member of the UAW Local 653. Mr. Dillehay was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He loved sports, especially football and basketball. Mr. Dillehay was a jack of all trades and could fix anything that he wanted to. He enjoyed doing electrical, mechanical, and plumbing work. He was preceded in death by his mother: Anna Elizabeth Dillehay Engler, by his daughter-in-law: Aleta Dillehay, and by his brother: Paul Martin.

Mr. Dillehay is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rebecca “Peggy” Garrison Dillehay of Adairville, KY, by his son: Brian Dillehay of Bradenton, FL, by his daughter and son-in-law: Leigh Ann and floral squareRicardo E. Evelyn Ratchford Frye, 93, of Greenbrier, passed from this life on Monday June 14, 2021 at her home.

Funeral services were conducted Friday June 18th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Nathan Washburn officiating. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Kenny Frye, Jesse Frye, Marc Frye, Josh Mulholland, Daniel Baker, and Bryant Webster serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Frye was born April 30, 1928 in Louisville, KY to the late Jesse and Lillie Mae Hollie Ratchford. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Greenbrier. Mrs. Frye loved crafting, playing her harmonica, and spending time with her family, especially all her grandchildren. She was a woman that loved the Lord, and she believed that you should always be doing something and never sit around with idol hands. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Paul Frye, by her sons: Jesse Louis, Clarence Eugene, and Kenneth Norman Frye, by her daughter: Virginia Mae Webster-Phelps, by her brothers: Jesse, Arthur, and Paul, and by her sister: Ruth.

Cassandra Jean Shannon was born on October 14, 1958, in Springfield, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Mary Helen Stone Doss and Less Doss of Springfield, Tennessee. Cassandra departed this earthly life on Friday, June 11, 2021.

She attended the public schools in Robertson County, Springfield High School, Class of 1977.

Cassandra retired in December 2020 after twenty years with the Robertson County School System. Cassandra had a love and passion for childcare. She spent a lifetime working with child care. She loved her family.

Obituary for Tippi Lynne Maddox

Tippi Lynne Maddox, age 47, of Hendersonville, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville. Tippi was born in East Tennessee and raised in Morristown until the family moved to Hendersonville in 1985.

She was named after her maternal grandfather, who had been dubbed with the nickname of Tippy. She was a golden girl who was a bit of an outsider to some, but that made her more caring when reaching out to others.

A graduate of Hendersonville HS, she had many jobs around the city, but her favorite vocation by far was childcare. She worked with her mother, and at various daycare and teaching centers. She was fluent in sign language as well. There was one child who especially stole her heart, and his name is Jeremy.

Tippi enjoyed dining out, playing games, getting a shiny new manicure and making crafts. She adored her little dog Lexi. She had many friends, but so many more on social media; and as a survivor of Ovarian Cancer, her Teal Sisters meant a great deal to her. Though she had other health issues, she never let it get her down, and was always quick to laugh and joke. She was a loving daughter, sister, auntie and wife. She will be deeply missed.

Tippi was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Drucilla Maddox.

She is survived by husband, Alan Whitehead; brother, Tad Maddox; niece, Alexa Springsteen; nephew, Bradley Maddox; and sisters-in-law, Joanne Springsteen and Samantha Maddox.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until 7:00pm Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home, Hendersonville. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 1:00pm Thursday, June 24, 2021 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Danny Spano officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00pm Friday, June 25, 2021 in the McCullough-Tieke Cemetery in Bulls Gap, TN.

Dorickus DeShawn Bradley was born August 10, 1989 to Gladys Gardner Bradley and Michael A. Bradley in Springfield, Tennessee. He gained his forever home on God’s celestial shores on June 10, 2021.

Dorickus was educated in the Robertson County School System. He professed a hope in Christ at an early age at South Haven Baptist Church, under the pastorship of Frankie Gagliano.

Burial followed in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Scott Barnes, William Bush, Jim Gray, David Gunn, David Hazelwood and Rodney Toothman serving as pallbearers.

Visitation was held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 4-7pm and again on Friday from 9am until the hour of service at 10am.

Mr. Smith was born January 27, 1951 in Springfield to the late Frank Sory and Lula Mae Goldsmith Smith. He worked in Communications and was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ. He loved his family very much and bargain hunting to help others.

In addition to his parents Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Smith. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ford Smith; floral squareson, Will Smith of Springfield; daughter, Brittney Smith of Ashland City; and sister, Elizabeth Barnes of Lafayette, TN.

“Mickey” age 63 of White House passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at St. Thomas Midtown. He was born January 15, 1958 in Hardin County, KY to Michael Daniel & Mary Lou Nall Padgett. He worked as a truck driver for USF Holland before his retirement and was a member of Local #480 Teamsters Union. He was very proud to have received his second jacket for two million miles of driving. He was an avid golfer, loved traveling, enjoyed riding his Harley and tinkering around in his garage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Donna Houk & Cathy Padgett; brother, Danny Padgett. Obituary for Tommy Long

Tommy Ray Long, age 73, of Pleasant View, Tennessee, died Monday, June 14, 2021 at Ahava Healthcare of Clarksville.

Graveside services were conducted at 3 o’clock pm, Saturday, June 19th in the Pleasant View United Methodist Church Cemetery with family officiating. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

There was no public visitation prior to the graveside service.

Tommy was born on November 25, 1947 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Jimmy and Frances Long. He was a retired construction superintendent and was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Vietnam War as a Military Police.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving companion- his beloved Pomeranian, “AJ’.

Survivors include his daughters, Christy (Chas) Adkisson of Pleasant View, Michelle Long of Chapmansboro; brothers, Jerry Long, Larry (Cecilia) Long; granddaughter, Kayla Williams (fiancé Bradley floral squareJohnson); step-granddaughter, Cierra Adkisson; six great-grandchildren, Rylee, Levi, Brownie, Madalyn, Grant, and Emmett; two nephews, Jeremy (April) Long, James Long; great-niece and nephews, Christian, Caleb, Miracle, and Max; and Christy’s mother, Jenny Ham.

Obituary for Derick E. Luthe

Derick E. Luthe, age 50, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ last Thursday morning, June 10, 2021.

Derick was known as the “go to guy”, “a jack of all trades”, as well as “my man Derick” by those who loved him. He spent many years racing cars with his late father, Carl Luthe. A time he loved talking about. The time he spent with his dad doing this was very special to him.

Derick had 3 sons of whom he loved dearly. Jackson, Zachary and Kendrick were always in his heart even when he was unable to be with them. His hope and prayer were that they would know Jesus the way he came to know Him.

He and his wife Wendy lived in Springfield, TN. He also had 2 step-sons, Brenton Stahl and Colby Stahl. Wendy loved Derick more than he could have ever known. He is also survived by his mom, Mary Luthe, a sister, Amy Luthe McIntosh, a brother, Shane Luthe and several nieces and nephews along with a whole church family at Purpose Life Church in Springfield, TN.

floral squareDerick always had a smile, a joke or something to say. His goal was to make you laugh no matter the circumstances. He was dearly loved by many people and in turn loved everyone he met. He will be truly missed.

Obituary for Arvin Artist Anderson, Sr.

Arvin Artist Anderson, Sr., 80, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 12, 2021. Mr. Anderson was a great man of God and a faithful servant. He loved the Lord and his family very much. He was a resident of Greenbrier, Tennessee. He was born January 29, 1941 in Cheatham County to the late Aldridge A. and Naomi C. Anderson. He was a graduate of Madison High School Class of 1959 and was employed with L&N/CSX Railroad for over 39 years. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, classic cars, and model trains.

In addition to his parents, Arvin was preceded in death by his sisters: Peggy Holt and Polly Spann and his brother Raymond Anderson. Next year he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage with his wife, Patricia Thomason Anderson, who survives him. Arvin is also survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Monica and Joe Dorris of Greenbrier and Dena and Tim Ellis of Goodlettsville, son and daughter-in-law Art and Kelley Anderson of Springfield, his grandchildren: Brandi (Steven) Phillips, Jody (Sarah) Dorris, Stefanie (Chris) Means, Blake Dorris, Austin (Emily) Anderson, Courtney (Todd) Lamberth, his great grandchildren: Brayden, Liam, Reese, Archer and Aaron, his sister: Ruth (James) Reynolds of Madison, and many nieces and nephews. Special friends Bro. Frank and Shirley Evans and John and Deborah Maynard.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, June 16th at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Rock Springs Baptist Church with Brother Randy Harmon and Brother Frank Evans officiating. Interment followed in Rock Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jody Dorris, Blake Dorris, Austin Anderson, Steven Phillips, Chris Means, Jeff Dickerson, Dink Grogan and Mark Pinkleton. Honorary Pallbearers were the Memory Makers Sunday School Class and Deacons of Rock Springs Baptist Church. The family received friends on Wednesday, June 16th from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Obituary for Barbra Fetzik

Barbra Belinda Marielle Fetzik (Teunisse), born February 7, 1966 in Nijmegen, The Netherlands has left this world and moved on to the next. Beloved wife of Henry Fetzik, daughter of Christiaan and Renee Teunisse (Pieters) (deceased October 2019), mother of Charlotte S.E. Teunisse and loving sister of Harold H. Teunisse, Patricia A. Teunisse and Nicole D. Teunisse. Barbra leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews in both California and in Tennessee who were blessed with her loving presence in their lives.

Barbra was a reliable and loving para educator who served children in need in both the San Gabriel, California region and the Nashville, Tennessee region for over two decades. Barbra and Henry shared a beautiful home, which they planned and built together, in Cedar Hill, TN.

Barbra was dedicated to service in all aspects of her life. She was a long time Girl Scout Leader where she was known by her camp name, Dancing Horse. She led a number of troops, including one for children with disabilities, for which she received a service achievement award from the Spanish Trails Girl Scout Council. She planned and executed a number of summer camps, including the annual Sizzyaliatcha camp at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds in Pomona, California.

Barbra graduated from Northview High School, in Covina, California, class of 1984. She was named the Floyd Myrick most promising freshman of 1981, a three- sport varsity athlete and class president. She also attended Citrus College in Glendora, California and played basketball for the Owls. A talented artist, Barbra graduated from the California State University at Long Beach with a bachelor’s in fine arts. She put her talent to good use throughout her life creating many amazing works of art, some of which hang in the homes of her family in the Netherlands as well as in California and Tennessee. Her joy for life can be seen in the beautiful works of art that she created and through which she remains with us always.

Funeral services were conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View on Friday, June 18th at 10:00AM with Bro. Tom Payne officiating. Burial followed at EverRest of Cheatham with Wayne Helm, Wayne Helm, III, Tony Carr, Harold Teunisse, floral squareNathan Carr, and Garrett Latham serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Friday from 9AM until the hour of service at 10AM.

Age 41 of Waverly, formerly of White House, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021 in White House, TN.

He was born May 24, 1980 in Nashville, TN to Charles Allen & Sherry Nash Coker, Jr. Cory graduated from White House High School in 1999 and was a member of the 1997 White House State Football Championship Team. He was also named Midstate MVP for White House as a soccer goalie. He was employed as a supervisor for Scepter, Inc. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and had been attending New Life Church in Waverly. Cory was also a member of Magic Valley Golf Club in Camden and was an avid golfer.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charlie and Nellie Coker; maternal grandparents, George and Fern Nash; brother, Charles Allen “Trey” Coker, III. He is survived by his wife, Megan Coker, Waverly, TN; son, Train Nash Coker, White House, TN; step-daughter, Jewelynn Fisher, Waverly, TN; mother, Sherry Nash Slagle, White House, TN; father, Allen Coker, Hendersonville, TN; brothers, JC (Jacquelyn) Slagle and Tyler Slagle; sister, Graycey Coker, all of White House, TN.

Age 68 of White House passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021 at her home. She was born February 23, 1953 in Cullman, AL to William & Peggy Gorham Lovelace. She enjoyed cooking, reading and relaxing on the beach. She was an avid Auburn football fan. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children and her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Shannon Lee; brother, Duffy Lovelace. Elizabeth “Betty” Draper, age 86, of Springfield passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021 at her home.

Per Ms. Draper’s request a private graveside service was held in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Ms. Draper was born May 13, 1935 in Nashville, TN to the late Robert Polk and Elizabeth Williams Draper Shivers. She was a homemaker and member of the Springfield First United Methodist Church. She loved Springfield, was an animal lover, loved housekeeping, flowers, antiques and helping manage property.

In addition to her parents Ms. Draper is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Draper. She is survived by her children, Bob (Eunhea) Sneed, Martha (Alan) Dodd, Sherry (Joe) Bollinger and Mary “Libby” Burton, all of Springfield; grandchildren, Kathy Sneed,Alanna Dodd, Daniel Dodd, Misty Reid, Bridgett Anthony, floral squareMelissa Burton and Aaron Burton; 3 great-grandchildren; and special friend and caregiver, Sheila Baxter.

Joe Gil Lawrence, 73, of Adairville, KY, passed away on Thursday June 10, 2021 at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday June 13th at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Brother John Jared officiating. Interment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery in Adairville, KY with Sean Suddiqui, Craig Walker, Chad Burkhart, Jack Campbell, and other friends and family serving as pallbearers. The family received friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Sunday at Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Lawrence was born March 15, 1948 in Shreveport, LA to the late Gilbert and Theresa Prince Lawrence. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the DAV – Pennyrile Honor Guard. Mr. Lawrence was retired from Firestone, having owned and operated his own sales store. He attended Oak Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Lawrence was a pilot and loved flying both airplanes and model airplanes, and he also loved restoring old cars.

Jim Nelson, 63 of Cedar Hill, Tennessee left this life on June 08, 2021 at his home surrounded by family.

Visitation and Funeral Services was held at Robertson County Funeral Home in Springfield, Tennessee on Friday June 11, 2021 from 4pm-8pm and Saturday June 12, 2021 from 10am-11am with the service at 11:00 am with burial at Bell Wood Cemetery in Adams, Tennessee with Pastor Nelson Garrett officiating. Jim was born in Illinois, to Jack and Betty Nelson. He was one of four children. Jim was a millwright for 40 years. He was a collector of guns and whiskey.

He is preceded in death by his late wife Carol Nelson, Mother Betty Nelson and Father Jack Nelson.

Phebia West Head, 83, of Hendersonville, passed from this life on Tuesday June 8, 2021 at the home of her son in Hendersonville, surrounded by her children and grandchildren who she so loved and adored.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, June 11th at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with her nephews: Todd Lee, Don West and Brian Edwards officiating. Entombment followed in the Springfield Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Pallbearers were Tim West, Don West, Darrell West, Todd Lee, Todd Edwards, and Alex Edwards. The family received friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Phebia was born in Springfield on August 16, 1937 to the late Elvis W. and Lena Cook West. She was a graduate of East Robertson High School. Phebia was a member of Holiday Heights Baptist Church in Hendersonville. She was a faithful believer in God and was an example to all who knew her of His grace, humility, and sacrificial love. She was a dedicated Physical Therapy Technician for 29 years in Springfield. She truly loved the work she did and was proud to be just as loved and respected by her patients over the years. Phebia loved and cherished being with her family more than anything. She was a patient, caring, generous, and fun-loving mother and Grammy. She enjoyed family vacations, camping, shopping, cooking, and anything else that involved time spent with them. She was the center of their world. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Larry Head, and by her siblings: Fred West, Sr., Joe West, Johnny West, Rose Lee, and Geraldine Smith.

Phebia is survived by her children: Brent Head of Hendersonville, Wendy Head Wylie of Hendersonville, and Penny Head of floral squareMemphis; by her sister: Robbie Jean True of Cross Plains, and by her grandchildren Taylor and Mallory Wylie. She also has many nieces and nephews with whom she loved dearly.

Mike retired from the Federal USDA in 2001, after 34 years of service. He additionally worked for the State of TN USDA and retired after 10+ years of service. He had a love for many things, especially playing golf, fishing, traveling and his St. Louis Cardinals. He loved his entire family and friends with everything that he had. He was his grandkids biggest fan and supported them in everything they did. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

Funeral services were conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 10:30AM on Saturday, June 19th, with Bro. Johnny Trail officiating. Burial was at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens in Nashville at 1:00PM with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Friday, June 18th from 5-7PM and again on Saturday from 9:00AM until the hour of service at 10:30AM.

Mr. Simpson was born October 22, 1928 in Manchester, Tennessee to the late Isacc & Lucy Stiles Simpson He was retired from Kusan Plastics and was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a former member of Sycamore Chapel Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Pam Simpson; nine siblings; and four step-children.

Obituary for Peggy Anne Adams

Peggy Anne Adams, age 74 of Hendersonville, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at TriStar Skyline Medical Center.

Peggy was the most warm and sweet person you would ever meet. She never had a negative word about anyone or anything. She loved the outdoors and her favorites were fishing and camping. She was a peaceful person who loved her Koi Pond, working in her flowers and her garden. She especially loved her grandson, Zachary. She loved her job at Nashville Memorial and then Skyline Medical Center until she retired in December 2012.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Flossie Vassar; and a brother, Roy Wayne Vassar.

Linda Gayle Abbott, age 69 of Pleasant View, Tennessee died Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at her home.

Mrs. Abbott was born on July 8, 1951 in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late Delbert & Mildred Kirby Martin. She was retired as a Certified Nurses Technician at Vanco Manor in Goodlettsville and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Penkerton.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles Abbott; sons, Marc (Traci) Abbott, Sr., Randall (Shelly) Abbott; daughter, Christie Abbott; brother, Douglas Rigdon; sisters, Rebecca (Terry) Morris floral squareand Tonya (Bubba) Mangrum; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
