Dorothy Launa ShouldersDorothy Launa Shoulders, 91, of Adairville, KY, passed away on Sunday November 11, 2018 at Creekwood Nursing Center in Russellville.

Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday November 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery with Bro. Johnnie Baldwin, Jr., officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Dean Funeral Chapel in Adairville, KY.

Mrs. Shoulders was born June 3, 1927 in Logan County to the late Will and Nannie Stubblefield Scott. She was a homemaker and a member of Living Word Church. Mrs. Shoulders loved listening to the radio, playing cards, and her favorite pastime was sitting on her porch enjoying her cat. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Garland Shoulders, and by her siblings: Hester floral squareRodgers, Lillian Simmons, Leonard Scott, Katherine Drake, and Cora Johnson.

Mrs. Shoulders is survived by her caretakers that she always considered her daughters: Vera Richmond and Louevennie Abney both of Adairville, KY, her nieces: Paula Johnson and Gail Johnson both of Port Orange, FL, and Terry Corey of Grand Island, NY, and by the one that out ranked everyone else, her cat: “Baby Girl”.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 16th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Dr. Eric Taylor and Dr. Tommy Crunk officiating. Interment will follow in Bellwood Cemetery with Andrew Jennings, and grandchildren Dustin, Brett, Devin, Drew, Braden, Colby, and Carson Drake, serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Baggett, David Reed, Billy Mac Sweatt, Larry Cohea, JR. Murphey, and Coop Gupton. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Mr. Drake was born July 4, 1936 in Robertson County to the late Felix Ewing and Helen Stroud Drake. He graduated from Jo Byrns High School in 1955, and then he served in the Army National Guard. Mr. Drake married Bobbie Jean Burnett in May of 1960. They married at Mt. Denson Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he was a longtime member and elder before moving his membership to Cedar Hill Baptist Church. He worked at the Southern Hill Shoe Plant and Genesco for 25 years. Mr. Drake enjoyed farming, playing golf with his friends and family, fishing, gardening, UT football, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Dale was born June 22, 1960 in Davidson County. He worked as a farmer and always enjoyed being out on the farm doing what needed to be done. Mr. Dale had a great love for camping and fishing. Dickie ThaxtonWilliam “Dickie” Thaxton, Sr., age 72, of Greenbrier, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11am in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier with Brother Ricky Suter officiating.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 4-8pm and again on Saturday from 10am – 11am until the hour of service at 11am.

Mr. Thaxton was born May 17, 1946 in Barren Plains, TN to the late Marvin Thaxton and the late Mildred Cobb Thaxton Strickland. He worked at Peterbilt Motors and was the founder/owner and operator of Thaxton Lawn Care. Mr. Thaxton was a loving father and grandfather, was a huge supporter of Greenbrier Athletics and was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents Mr. Thaxton is preceded in death by his brothers, Louie Thaxton and J.D. Thaxton.

Louis Chisolm Eden, Jr.Louis Chisolm Eden, Jr., age 89, died on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the Gallatin Healthcare. He was born November 1, 1929 in Milldale, Tennessee to the late Louis C., Sr. and Ruby Lee Hudson Eden. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by sons, Joe Michael Eden, Timothy Roger Eden, and Jerry Eden; brothers, Russell Eden and Freddie B. Eden; sister, Lula Mae Suttle. He was a retired golf course superintendent and was a member of the Spring Hill Baptist Church.

Louis is survived by his wife, Edith Gladys Hill Eden of Goodlettsville; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Kathy Eden of Greenbrier; granddaughter, Katie (Justin Wilbur) Eden of Goodlettsville.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 2:00pm with Brother Bob Swift officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Robertson County with Ronnie Beller, Ryan Kilpatrick, Justin Wilbur, Tracy Sterry, Jimmy Foster, and Mark Kilpatrick serving as pallbearers. Ian Scott JacksonIan Jackson, age 88, of Gallatin, TN, born Aug. 26, 1930, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at St. Thomas Mid-town hospital after a brief illness.

A Celebration of his life will be held Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, 12 Noon at Hendersonville Austin & Bell Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Hancock officiating. Interment will follow at Mayes Cemetery with Navy Military Honors. Serving as pallbearers will be David Jackson, Kevin Jackson, Chris Dorris, Shane Dorris, Joshua Dorris, & Jeff Gann. Visitation with family will be held, 4-8 PM Thursday, November 15, 2018 and Friday, November 16, 2018 prior to the service from 10-12 PM.

He was born the son of the late Basil Jackson and Henrietta Marchbank Jackson in San Luis Obispo, CA. He was also preceded in death by his son, Alan Jackson. He was a veteran of the US Navy during the Korean conflict and retired after 45 years with General Motors. He is survived by his wife, Julia Jackson; sons, David (Nancy) Jackson, Kevin (Sami) Jackson & Michael (Amy) Jackson; daughters, Wendy (Kevin) Yarnell, Elizabeth (Ron) Arbino, Jennifer Jackson & Kimberly Jackson; stepsons, Chris (Tresa) Dorris & Shane (Jennifer) Dorris; 18 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren.

Ian was a member of Goodlettsville Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a volunteer at Ronald McDonald House. He enjoyed and loved life! He loved to play golf and travel! He was an outgoing person who loved people and was generous with floral squareall he met. He loved his wife Julia with a passion and was always doing special things for her such as leaving love notes for her all over their home. He was a wonderful, dedicated husband to her.

The family asks that contributions be made in memory of Ian Jackson to the Ronald McDonald House.

Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Hunt

Mary Elizabeth HuntMrs. Mary Elizabeth (Simmons) Hunt, Alpharetta, Georgia, and formerly of Clarksville, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, November 9, 2018. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 54 years, John Lloyd Hunt, in 1998.

The daughter of the late Pearlie Washington Simmons and Myrtle Nicholson Simmons, Mary was born in Neptune, Tennessee. She attended Ashland City High School where she met Lloyd. After attending Business School in Nashville, Mary was employed by the Tennessee Farm Bureau in Ashland City, TN. She and Lloyd married in his early days in the Air Force and Mary greatly enjoyed the travel, activities and friends associated with his career in the military.

In 1968, upon Lloyd’s retirement from the Air Force, he and Mary moved to Clarksville, Tennessee where they were active members of Hilldale United Methodist Church and the Retired Officer’s Association at Fort Campbell. Mary loved playing bridge and participating in the Clarksville Garden Club and the Clarksville Home Demonstration Club. After Lloyd’s death, Mary moved to Alpharetta, Georgia to be near her daughter’s family.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Jo Anne Ricca of Denver, Colorado and Donna Dickinson of Alpharetta, Georgia; her grandchildren, David (Paula) and Daniel (Shannon) Ricca of Denver, Brian (Shannon) Ricca of Stamford, Connecticut, Kari (Matt) Samuelson of Atlanta, Georgia; and was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View. Burial to follow in the EverRest of Cheatham cemetery.

floral squareThe family will receive friends on Sunday prior to the funeral from 12:00 PM until the hour of service at 2:00 PM.

Obituary for Richard Frederick Walz

Richard Frederick WalzAge 95 of White House went home to be with the Lord Thursday, November 8, 2018 at his home. He was born August 18, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio to Frank F. and Clara Pietrick Walz. He worked in real estate sales until his retirement. He proudly served his country in WWII on the USS Algemarle as a radioman. He was a member of New Life Fellowship and a member of White House American Legion Post #206. He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, James R. and Jeffrey A. Walz; brother, Robert F. Walz.

He is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Eunice Elizabeth Walz, White House, TN; daughter, Beverly Ann Thurber, North Hills, CA; 2 daughter-in-laws, Sue and Darlene Walz, both of CA; several grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

floral squareA Celebration of Life funeral service was held 6:30pm Sunday, November 11, 2018 at New Life Fellowship with Bro. Rob Massie and Bro. Neal Morse officiating. Visitation was held Sunday, November 11, 2018 4-6:30pm at the church. Interment was held Monday, November 12, 2018 at 1pm in White House Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers and with military honors.

Obituary for Timothy Ray Cantrell

Timothy Ray CantrellIt is with regret that we announce the passing of Timothy Ray Cantrell, age 36 of Nashville.

Timothy was a beloved son with a life-long passion for music. Raised in Hendersonville, he was a 2000 graduate of Hendersonville High School where he was a member of the Band of Gold. He also attended MTSU where he studied Recording Industry. Over the years he played in many different bands as well as recorded music for various groups.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bobby Cantrell. He is survived by his mother, Donna Cantrell; grandmothers, Ruth Lord, and Mary Cantrell; aunt, Glenda Dantzler (John) and cousins, Alan Parrish (Ashlie), Jeremy Lord (Cameron), John Dantzler, III, and William Dantzler (Laura).

floral squareHis family received friends on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until his Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 P.M. at Austin & Bell Funeral Home, Hendersonville. Interment followed in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
