Obituary for David Ray Walden

David Ray Walden, 68, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday April 9, 2023, at his home. His remains will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.

David was born November 9, 1954, in Nashville, to the late Wade McDonald and Sophie Christine Moran Walden. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during Vietnam, and he worked as a steel fabricator. David enjoyed fishing, coin collecting, NASCAR, and watching football, especially the TN Titans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Beverly Kay Cundiff.

Obituary for Tommy Neal Ayers

Tommy Neal Ayers, age 73, of Greenbrier, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023 at his home. Mr. Ayers’ wishes were to be cremated and there are no services scheduled, but the family will receive friends from 11am until 7pm Wednesday, April 12th, at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield.

Mr. Ayers was born February 21, 1950, in Springfield, to the late Thomas Floyd and Mable Leota James Ayers. He was a farmer most of his life.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ayers was preceded in death by a son, J.T. Ayers; and a brother, Russell Ayers.

floral squareHe is survived by his wife of 38 years, Darlene Ayers; sons, Michael Williams, Daniel (Angela) Williams, and Billy Williams; daughters, Angela (Bob) Murphy, and Angela Woodrum; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and a sister, Helon Owens.

Obituary for William Henry “Willie” Wilson

William Henry “Willie” Wilson, 73, of Greenbrier, passed away on Friday April 7, 2023, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday April 11th at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Jarrod Wilkerson and Tim Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Chris Cassidy, Tim Cassidy, John Cassidy, Mike Haley, Henry Haley, and Jarrod Wilkerson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be John Holland Cassidy, Sr. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Willie was born March 12, 1950, in Guthrie, KY, to the late Angis Marvin and Cozetta Mae Smock Wilson. He was a retired painter with Peterbilt and was a member of the Harley Motorcycle Riding Club. Willie enjoyed fishing, shooting guns, being outdoors, and riding his Harley motorcycle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Judy Carol Haley Wilson, by his sister: Anna Mae Cassidy, and by his brother: Benny Wilson.

Obituary for Timothy Wayne “Tim” Hutcherson

Timothy Wayne “Tim” Hutcherson, 56, of Greenbrier, died Wednesday April 5, 2023.

Memorial services will be conducted Tuesday April 11th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Tim was born December 3, 1966, in Springfield. He attended Springfield High School and was an excellent baseball player. Tim loved fishing, playing baseball, and watching both baseball and football and always loved the Cincinnati Red’s and the Dallas floral squareCowboys. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Tim is survived by his parents: Patrick Edward “Pat” and Mary Jo Duke Hutcherson of Greenbrier, by his brothers and sister-in-law: Michael Christopher Hutcherson of Dickson, Derrick and Samantha Hutcherson of Carthage, by his 8 nieces and nephews, and by his 7 great nieces and nephews.

Obituary for Marjorie Ruth Jackson

Marjorie Ruth Jackson, age 82 of Goodlettsville, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at her home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Goodlettsville Church of Christ at a later date.

Mrs. Jackson was born September 26, 1940 in Springfield to the late Joe E. and Mary Lynn Gezely Adams. She was a member of Goodlettsville Church of Christ and was a retired LPN. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and traveling. She also enjoyed watching sports of all kind, but especially Vanderbilt football. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Lee Kirkham, and brothers, Joe Howard, Billy, and Edward Adams.

Obituary for Ronald Dale “Ronnie” Dean, 73

Ronald Dale “Ronnie” Dean, 73, of Portland, passed away on Monday April 3, 2023, at his home.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday April 5th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Brother Tony Willis officiating. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Kenny Leftrick, Sconie Leftrick, Donnie Wallace, Jeff Dean, Luke Conyer, Tommy Conyer, and Jody Morrison serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ronnie was born February 14, 1950, in Springfield, to the late L.C. and Goldie Eden Dean. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during Vietnam. Ronnie worked as a small engine repair mechanic. He was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Portland, where he served as a deacon. Ronnie enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing horseshoes, trading knives, shooting guns, and working on lawnmowers.

Obituary for Marilyn Elaine Holland

Marilyn Elaine Hollingsworth Holland was taken home to the Lord on Monday, April 3rd, 2023, after a brief battle with lung cancer.

A Memorial Service was conducted at 1pm Saturday, April 8th in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Rev. Steve Van Hooser, Pastor of McKendree United Methodist Church in Portland, TN, officiating.

The family received friends from 11:30am until time of the service at 1pm Saturday at the funeral home.

She was born in Springfield, TN, on November 17, 1945 to the late Forrest and Margaret Hollingsworth. She graduated from Springfield High School and married Don Smith with whom she was blessed to have two loving daughters, Scottie Smith (Jeff Wilemon), of St. Petersburg, FL and Shelley Smith Bullock (Scott), of Nolensville, TN. During her career, she worked in many areas including sales, purchasing and management in the music industry, various retail, and commercial industrial companies. These positions took her from Tennessee to Texas, Georgia, and Alabama. She was fortunate enough to return to her beloved Tennessee. Marilyn loved crafting of all sorts, was an avid reader, and enjoyed SEC football, particularly her beloved Tennessee Vols, the Auburn Tigers, and the Alabama Crimson Tide. She loved watching the Tennessee Titans and the Predators. After returning to Tennessee, she reconnected with a high school classmate, Forrest Holland, and shared twelve wonderful years together. She and Forrest were faithful members of McKendree United Methodist Church in Portland, TN and loved their church family.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest, and survived by her two daughters who will miss her every day. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, whom she adored and considered her crowning glory, Halie Elaine floral squareBullock, Hunter Everett Bullock, and Lainey Wilemon. She is also survived by her sister, Diane Hollingsworth Keane (William) and her brother, Jack Hollingsworth.

Russell Raymond “Rut” Burks, Jr., 64, of Cross Plains, passed away on Tuesday March 28, 2023, at Skyline Medical Center.

His remains were cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held Saturday April 29, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at 13968 Owens Chapel Rd in Springfield.

Rut was born December 16, 1958, in Rensselaer, IN to the late Russell Raymond and Norma Jean Hall Burks. He was a heavy equipment operator and was of the Baptist faith. Rut enjoyed fishing, woodworking, watching NASCAR, keeping his yard perfectly landscaped, and spending time with his family that he loved so much. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Dennis Burks, and by his brother-in-law: Wayne Fuqua.

Kathy Kreger of Pleasant View, left this earthly world and went to be with her Lord in Heaven on Tuesday, March 28th, 2023. Kathy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmommy, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was very loved and will be greatly missed. Kathy was born in Springfield to Dainty (Wallace) Harris. She was a graduate of Cheatham County Central High School and was the Nashville President of Empire Marketing Strategies, Inc. Kathy was a child of God and attended Calvary Bible Church in Joelton, Tn. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Homer Wallace Harris; grandparents, Winford and Fannie Murphy, and great-grandparents, Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Stack.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Mike Kreger; by her children, Walissa (Randy) Harper, Michael (Shelby) Kreger and Tyler (Sloane) Kreger; by her grandchildren, Alexander Kreger, Aidan Kreger, Ilana Harper, Arielle Harper, Deacon Kreger, Hadley Kreger, Indy Kaye Kreger, Sawyer Kreger and Elliott Kreger; by her mother, Dainty Harris; by her sisters, Karen Blair, Katrina (Robert) Jones, Tammy (Miles) Davenport, Kandie (Mike) Cornell, Donna Reddick, and Glenda Mobley; by her brother, Coy Dean Harris; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Obituary for James Wilburn Lampley

James Wilburn Lampley, age 92, of Goodlettsville, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023 at his home.

Funeral services were conducted at 1pm Thursday, April 6th in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier with Bro. Keith Lampley officiating, Burial followed in the Spring Hill Cemetery on Dividing Ridge Road in Robertson County, with family serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends from 4-8pm Wednesday, April 5th and again from 11am until time of the service at 1pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Lampley was born July 26, 1930, in Nashville, to the late John Walter and Della Rosa Ferguson Lampley. He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked in Production Control at AVCO Aero Structures for many years, and was a member of River Road Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lampley was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine Redden Lampley; daughter, Donna Belt; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Obituary for Paula Torres Lozano

Paula Torres Lozano, 50, of Greenbrier, passed away on Thursday March 30, 2023, at Skyline Medical Center.

Graveside services were conducted Thursday April 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Sharon Cemetery with Reverend Kim Moore officiating. There was no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Paula was born October 31, 1972, in McMinnville. She was of the Christian faith and worked as a caretaker with the elderly. Paula is survived by her father, mother, and three children.

Janice Alley Agee, 75, of Springfield, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday March 26, 2023.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, March 30th, at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Diane Coppock officiating. Interment followed in the Palestine Cemetery with Brad Carneal, Bill Benson, Johnny Ray Coats, IV., James T. Marshall, Mark Fields, James W. Long, David Brehm, Riley Fields, Annaleise Agee, and Allyson Carneal serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Danny Moon and Dennis Moon. The family received friends on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.

Janice was born April 23, 1947, in Springfield, to the late Elgia Harris Alley, Sr. and Jessie Lee Benton Alley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, by her brother and sister-in-law: Elgia Harris Alley, Jr. and Martha Ann Alley, by her sisters-in-law: Bettye R. Alley and Peggy Alley, and by her brother-in-law: James W. Long, Sr. Janice is survived by her husband of 53 years: Bobby Ray Agee of Springfield, by her daughters: Allyson (Brad) Carneal of Springfield, and Annaleise Agee (Bill Benson) of Springfield, by her grandchildren: Johnny Ray Coats, IV, and Oakley Bradshaw Carneal, by her brothers: Robert D. (Betty) Alley of Springfield, and Leslie Alley of Springfield, by her sister: Pat Alley Long of Springfield, and by a large loving extended family that filled her life with joy.

Janice was a 1965 graduate of Springfield High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in Education from Austin Peay State University and her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Tennessee State University. She devoted her professional life to educating children and taught for 40 years in the Robertson County School System. Janice was a lifelong member of Palestine United Methodist Church. Before her health began to decline, she loved being a member of the Federation of Women’s Clubs, most recently the Century Club, and the Robertson County Retired Teachers Association. She and Bobby loved spending time bird watching, growing flowers, and following sports. Her passion was listening to her grandchildren’s stories, supporting their interests, and helping to guide their lives with love and wisdom.

Obituary for Jerry Moreland Sr. Updated Service

Master Sergeant (Retired) Jerry Don Moreland Sr left this earthly world and went to be with his Lord in Heaven on December 6, 2022. Jerry was born October 7, 1937, to the late JC Moreland and Alice Stevison Moreland in Cleveland, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife Rebecca (Becky) Johnson Moreland, sister Shirley Moreland McLemore, brother Ronald Moreland (Charlotte) three children Debra Moreland Cox, Ed Moreland (Sharon) and Jerry Moreland Jr. (Cindy). He had 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 1 great great-grandson, several nieces, and nephews. He was a member of Madisonville First Baptist Church where he was a greeter. His smile lit up the room and made everyone feel welcome.

On August 7, 1956, Jerry married the love of his life, Rebecca Johnson (Becky). Married 67 years. In 1956 Jerry joined the United States Air Force and retired after 20 years in 1976 and was in the Air Force Ready Reserves for another 10 years. He served in several overseas deployments and during war time. During his enlistment he was awarded numerous honors and medals. He enjoyed attending Veterans Day celebrations and felt it was important to stay connected with other veterans. After retiring from the military, Jerry and Becky ventured into a second career, co-owning Mill Direct Carpets in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Jerry’s hobbies included gardening, traveling with Becky in their RV, cruising all over the world, photography, ancestry research, TN Vols football, fishing and cooking the best fried catfish.
