Obituary for Joyce Helen Johnson Allen

Joyce Helen Johnson Allen, 88, of Harvest, AL, passed from this life on Sunday July 30, 2023, at Regency Retirement Center in Huntsville, AL.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday August 4th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Joyce was born May 4, 1935, on a farm in Springfield, to the late Thomas Benton and Carrie Ann Cook Johnson. She was a graduate of Springfield High School. Joyce was the fifth of six children. She was always a people person that never met a stranger, and had a gift for remembering names and always knew who was who in the family. Joyce was a member of Northeast Baptist Church in Clarksville, where she enjoyed singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and overseeing the floral arrangements for the church. She was a homemaker, but also enjoyed volunteering for the Red Cross and being a classroom mom and snack mom during her children’s school years. While married to her husband Billy Ray, she was always a wonderful Army wife and enjoyed traveling around the world during his military career and being a part of the Officer’s floral squareWives Association. She loved their two children and always made moving every few years easy for all of them. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years: Billy Ray Allen and by her husband of 14 years: James Evans, and by her son: Anthony Ray “Tony” Allen.

Joyce is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Tedra and David Stumbaugh of Harvest, AL, by her grandsons: Jeremy Stumbaugh and wife Kimberley, Jason Stumbaugh and wife Kenia, by her great grandchildren: Ethan, Aiden, Grace, and Eliza Stumbaugh, and by her sister: Virginia Johnson Trimble Ritter of Adairville, KY.

Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Adairville, KY with Keith Colston, Josh Alexander, Andrew Colston, Vinson Eulalio Ramos, Charles Ramos, Sr., and Charles Ramos, Jr. serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be John Alexander and Jamie Alexander. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Carolyn was born April 2, 1953, in Russellville, KY to late Albert and Lottie Perry Goodwin. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Carolyn enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, knitting, and especially spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Billy Goodwin.

Timothy Glenroy “Tim” Adkins, 56, of Adams, passed away on Sunday July 30, 2023, at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday August 2nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Kelly LeBlanc, Reverend Tyler Estep, and Brother Isaac Bourne officiating. Interment will follow in the Bellwood Cemetery with Gabriel Adkins, Glen Adkins, Scott Adkins, Brandon Adkins, Kevin Adkins, Chase Adkins, Dereke Jernigan, and Blake Jernigan serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Tim was born December 22, 1966, in Springfield. He was a graduate of Jo Byrns High School Class of 1985, where he played basketball, football, and baseball. He was a retired appraiser with the Robertson County Assessor of Property office and was a member of Red River Baptist Church. Tim enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, umpiring ballgames, coaching, and loved the Cincinnati Reds. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father: Roy Hulon Adkins and by his sister: Donna Adkins.

Obituary for David Lee Lyon

David Lee Lyon, age 70, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Friday, August 4, 2023 at the Cedar Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Eric Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in EverRest of Cheatham Cemetery in Pleasant View.

The family will receive friends from 4-8pm Thursday, at the church, and again from 10am until time of the service at 11am Friday, at the church.

Mr. Lyon was born April 1, 1953 in Sturgis, KY to the late Darnell and Emma Lee Lyon. He was born, raised, and married his loving wife in KY. Then David and Mary Lou moved to southern IL where they raised their children, and then they moved to Springfield 26 years ago. David became a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Kentucky Basketball. Mr. Lyon was a Mining Engineer with Zeigler Coal Company, Old Ben Coal Corporation, and then locally with Rogers Group Inc., retiring in 2016. He was a member of Gideons International for many years, as well as the Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief organization. David’s passion was to spread the Gospel. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved to travel and plan trips for his family. Mr. Lyon was a member of the Cedar Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara O’Connor, and Patti Browning.

Benjamin “Earl” Maynard, age 67, of Lewisburg, KY, formerly of Springfield, TN passed away Friday, July 28, 2023 at his home. Mr.

Maynard’s wishes were to be cremated and the family will be holding a Gathering of Friends and Celebration of Life at the home of his niece, Sherry Estrada, 2718 Kelly Willis Road, Greenbrier, TN 37073, (615) 389-3847, on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 5-8pm.

Mr. Maynard was born February 29, 1956, in Springfield, to the late Luther Cordell and Clara May Maynard. He was a truck driver for the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).

Doretha Ann Carr, age 79 of Springfield, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Spring Meadows Health Care in Clarksville.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, July 28, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Burial followed in Cross Plains Cemetery with Ken Adams, Nathaniel Adams, Luke Adams, Kempf Stark, Chris Adcock and Dwayne Adcock serving as pallbearers. The family received friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10 AM until the hour of service.

Mrs. Doretha was born August 25, 1943 in Cross Plains to the late Howard and Mary Gregory Carr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne “Moose” Adams, and a sister, Mary Ellen Mondt. She was a Christian and a member of the Baptist faith and worked at DOMETIC Mobile Products in Greenbrier. She was a member of the 1961 graduating class of East Robertson High School. She loved her son and daughter-in-law and grandchildren and the rest of the family and enjoyed spending time with them as well as her friends. She also loved to travel.

Obituary for John Clayton “Clay” Riggins

John Clayton “Clay” Riggins, 45, of Bowling Green, KY, passed away on Tuesday July 25, 2023, at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday July 29th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Davis and Pastor Tom Haddon officiating. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Addison Riggins, Warren Riggins, Wesley Riggins, Walker Riggins, Jenna Claire Riggins, Clint Collins, Wayne Gamble, and Lee Phipps serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Clay was born December 17, 1977, in Springfield. He was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1996, and then went on to graduate from University of Tennessee Knoxville with a degree in AG ECON and Animal Science. Clay worked as a Flock Superintendent with Perdue Poultry and was a member of Northfield Church in Gallatin. He was a UT Vols fan, and he enjoyed farming, working, agriculture, and cows. Clay’s favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially his niece and his nephews. He was preceded in death by his father: Leonard Ewing “Bubbie” Riggins.

James Carl Cole Age 82 of White House passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023 at his home. He was born April 22, 1941 in Nashville, TN to Willie D. & Lula Romines Cole. He was retired from Pirelli-Armstrong. He enjoyed rabbit hunting, fishing for catfish and field trialing his beagles. He was a member of the Music City Beagle Club and was an avid Atlanta Braves and White House Blue Devils fan.

Ethel Angeline Krantz, age 80, of Joelton, Tennessee, died Thursday, July 27, 2023 at her home.

Burial will follow in Anderson-Perry Cemetery in Ashland City with her grandsons, Damon Erik Harris, Dakota Harris, Drake Harris, Andy Staggs, Luke Glasgow, and Gibson Altom serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View on Sunday from 10:00AM until the hour of service at 2:00PM.

Mrs. Krantz was born on October 17, 1942, in Southside, Tennessee, to the late Slayden Perry & Mary Jane Perry Martin. She was retired as a nurse after 40 years and later became a caregiver by choice. She loved to cook, work in the garden, square dancing, flowers, and Mexican food. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Krantz was a member of Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Horace, John, Pete, Thomas, and Buford Perry; sisters, Virginia Johnson and Mary Ann Hall; and great-granddaughter, Ivy Staggs.

Age 53 of White House passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Vanderbilt Medical due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born June 5, 1970 in Trenton, MI to Chuck and Wanda May. He has worked for 30+ years as a paramedic in the surrounding areas. He was very passionate about serving as a paramedic. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, listening to 80’s music, working on cars and spending time at the beach.

He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Ashley May, White House, TN; parents, Chuck and Kay May, White House, TN; sons, Michael May, White House, TN and Christopher (Autumn) May, Springfield, TN; daughter, Tiffany May, Gallatin, TN; sister, Beth May, White House, TN; grandchild, Alex.

Bobby J. Mays, age 89, of Lexington, TN passed away Monday, July 24, 2023 at the NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield.

Funeral services were conducted at 1pm Friday, July 28th in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier with Pastor James Jett officiating. Burial followed in the Spring Hill Cemetery on Dividing Ridge Road in Goodlettsville.

The family received friends from 11am until time of the service at 1pm Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Mays was born June 24, 1934, in Decaturville, TN to the late Houston B. and Alpha Vera Mays. He was a Graduate of Goodlettsville High School Class of 1953. After graduation, Mr. Mays joined the U.S. Air Force and served for 9 years. He served as a Medical Technologist and held the rank of Sargent. During his time in the military, he was stationed in Alaska, Florida and South Carolina.

Obituary for Hillery “Tommy” Rippy Jr

“Tommy” Rippy, age 61 of White House passed away Monday, July 24, 2023 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. He was born November 10, 1961 in Nashville, TN to Hillery Thomas & Shirley Jean Whitney Rippy. He was employed as a Regional Manager with Apple Collision Centers. He enjoyed working on cars, grilling, visiting the beach, shooting fireworks and doing handyman chores around the house. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog Myrtie more than anything else. He was a member of the Church at Grace Park.

He is preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Allen Emery. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Tina Garland Rippy; sons, Chason (Megan) Rippy and Chris Rippy; brother John Rippy, all of White House, TN; sisters Renee (Randall) Emery, Gallatin, TN, Dana (Mark) Stribling, White House, TN; several nieces and nephews.

Obituary for Traute Marta “Trudy” Ausley

Traute Marta “Trudy” Ausley, 84, of Springfield, passed from this life on Saturday July 22, 2023, at Oak Pointe Assisted Living in Adams.

Graveside services were conducted Wednesday July 26th at 11:00 a.m. in the Bellwood Cemetery in Adams with Brother Ronnie Green officiating. Pallbearers were Warren Hamaker, Kenneth Hamaker, Shane Spann, Brandon Coggins, Ricky Hamaker, Shane Coggins, Colton Hamaker, and Eli Hamaker. There was no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Ms. Trudy was born April 28, 1939, in Hamburg, Germany, to the late Anton and Margarethe Pauline Marie Appelt Bauer. She was a homemaker and was of the Catholic faith. Ms. Trudy enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, mowing, and crocheting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: John Merritt Ausley.

Newell Bearden Shearon, 71, passed away on July 27, 2023 at his residence.

He was born on December 14, 1951 in Clarksville, TN to James Horace and Lou Esther Bearden Shearon who preceded him in death.

Newell had a passion for racing. He enjoyed visiting the dirt track and cheering on his son and grandson floral squarefrom the sidelines.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Donna Shearon; son, Ben (Jessi) Shearon; brothers, Mike and Tim Shearon; and grandsons, Ty and Chase Shearon.

Obituary for Jamal Azad Bekhtyar

Age 36 of White House passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023 at his home. He was born February 5, 1987 in Nashville, TN to Azad Jamal & Linda Tietz Bekhtyar. He was a 2005 graduate of White House High School, where he played football. He continued to be a huge White House Blue Devils fan. He then graduated in 2010 with an Associated Degree in Nursing from Aquinas College. He enjoyed going to the gym to workout, especially with his sister and was very disciplined with fitness. He loved his big sister and his two nephews more than anything else and loved spending time with them. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather; maternal grandparents; uncle, Hawjeen Bekhtyar.

Obituary for Presley William Nave Sr.

Presley William Nave Sr., age 91, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at the NorthCrest Medical Center.

Graveside services were conducted at 10am Saturday, July 29th in the Springfield Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Nave was born June 14, 1932 in Chattanooga, TN to the late Clarence and Margaret Nave. He was an All Star Baseball, Football, and Basketball player for the Tennessee School for the Deaf in Knoxville, was a Liner Typist for a newspaper printing company, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in downtown Nashville where he taught the Silent Bible Class for the Deaf. Most of all, Mr. Nave was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Obituary for Regena Gail Biggs

Regena Gail Biggs, age 73 of Springfield, left this world and went home to be with her heavenly Father on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Vanco Manor in Goodlettsville.

Regena was born April 9, 1950 in Mt. Vernon, IN to the late Roy and Eva Mae Gibbs Coulter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon Biggs, and sisters, Louise Wooden, Mary Alice Murphy, Jeraldine Smith, and Janie LaVeau. She was a Christian and a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Greenbrier. She graduated from Greenbrier High School Class of 1968 and then went to work for Taylor Impression in Nashville for 36 years where she retired in 2004 as an office manager.

Surviving her are her sister, Faye Morphis of Springfield; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy David and Wanda Coulter of Millersville and James Boyd and Ballerie Coulter of Springfield; a host of nieces and nephews and Faye’s grandchildren that will truly miss her as she loved them as her own; her best friends who were more like sisters, Helen Chowning of Cedar Hill and Joyce Wall of Clarksville; her canine friend Sophie which she had enjoyed her relationship with the last 10 years.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of service.

Obituary for Larry Thomas Brown

Larry Thomas Brown, 73, of Portland, passed away on Tuesday July 18, 2023, at VA Medical Center in Nashville.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday July 22nd at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Dale Swearingen officiating. The family received friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Larry was born March 3, 1950, in Greenbrier, to the late Willie Austin and Marie Elizabeth Raymer Brown. He was a graduate of White House High School Class of 1968. Larry was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during Vietnam. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Larry was a retired inspector with Ford Glass and was of the Assembly of God faith. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cutting wood and grass, his guns, and anything that allowed him to be outdoors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Joyce Marlin and Roy Brown.

Ray V. Evitts, age 80, of Springfield, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023 at his home.

Mr. Evitts wishes were to be cremated, and there are no services scheduled at this time.

Mr. Evitts was born March 26, 1943 in Russellville, KY to the late Virgil and Roxy Evitts. He was a farmer and farmed most of his life.

Obituary for Elizabeth Krisle

Elizabeth Catherine Anderson Krisle, age 82, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Morningside of Springfield.

Her remains were cremated and a private family burial will take place at a later date.

Mrs. Krisle was born April 5, 1941 in Greenbrier, TN to the late Charles Edgar and Annie Frances Derseweh Anderson. She worked as a bookkeeper and accountant and was a member of the Greenbrier First Baptist Church. “Betty”, as she was affectionately known, loved growing her flowers, loved the outdoors, watching the wildlife in her backyard and especially feeding her hummingbirds. She enjoyed her many truck rides with her husband and supporting her grandchildren in the activities they enjoyed. Her family says she decorated the entire house, literally, for every single holiday. Cooking and the family gatherings were her most favorite things.

Mrs. Krisle is survived by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth Krisle; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Christy Krisle; daughter, Vonda Krisle Jones (Jay Hall); grandchildren, Bethany (Michael) Lamb, Jordan (Zac) Mayo, Riley Hughes, and Kendra Jones; and great-grandchildren, Isaiah Lamb, Joshua Lamb and Izaac Mayo.

Obituary for Peggy Kilgore

Peggy Ann Kilgore, age 86, of Joelton, Tennessee, died Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville.

Funeral services were conducted at New Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Joelton at 2:00PM on Sunday, July 23rd, with Bro. Corey Minter and Bro. Tom Malone officiating. Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View on Saturday, July 22nd from 5:00PM until 8:00PM and again on Sunday at the church from 1:00PM until the hour of service at 2:00PM.

Mrs. Kilgore was born on September 23, 1936, in Pleasant View, Tennessee. Although she helped her husband on the farm, her most treasured occupation was caring for her family. She was an avid country music fan, enjoyed watching westerns on TV, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Kilgore was a member of New Hope Free Will Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Nan Moore McNeese; step-father, Willie Moore; and brothers, Ken Moore and Phillip Stiles.

Brenda Faye Evitts Fugate, age 52, of Adams, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at her home.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 12pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Jake Townsend officiating. Burial followed in the Bellwood Cemetery with John Roland, Dan Hodges, Daniel, Baker, Phillip Brown, Ed Thomas and Michael Keith serving as pallbearers.

Visitation was held at the funeral home on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 4-8pm and again on Saturday from 10am until the hour of service at 12pm.

Mrs. Fugate was born November 7, 1970 in Russellville, KY to Mr. Ray Evitts of Springfield and the late, Mrs. Mildred Carter Evitts. She worked as a Nutritionalist for the Robertson County School System and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Age 89 of Goodlettsville passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at St. Thomas Midtown. She was born December 25, 1933 in Denmark. Before moving to this area she lived in New York City and was an Executive with Patek Philippe Watch Company. She loved her work, going on vacations and spending time with her only granddaughter.
