Jo Byrns Red Devils Win Single A Superbowl Against Springfield
CEDAR HILL TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The Jo Byrns Red Devils single A team (ages 5-7) recently has done something that no other team in league history has done and that’s win a superbowl.
“With a regular season record of 6 and 2 we out scored our opponents 282 to 66. Then going into the playoffs as a number four seed we had the hardest road to a championship. We started with the number 5 seed Greenbrier Bobcats and a win of 27 to 0,” said Coach Matt Carroll.
The Red Devils went on to play the number 1 seed Pleasant View Eagles as it went into double overtime, they won 6 to 0. Continued below….
“In the superbowl we played the number 2 seed Springfield Yellow Jackets and after a tough game on both sides we were victorious 19 to 18 in triple overtime” Coach Carroll said.
“By the end of the season the Red Devils outscored our opponents 334 to 84. We were never scored on in the second half in 8 regular season games and two playoff games. We were only scored on in 8 quarters and 3 over times out of 44 quarters and 5 over times.
Even though we weren’t the biggest, fastest or even most talented team, we never gave up no matter what odds were stacked against us and the Devil’s showed what true teamwork is about.”
