Man Hospitalized After “Drive-By” Shooting In Springfield

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – According to officials in Springfield, the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what neighbors are calling a drive-by shooting that occurred in the 4000 block of Lahr Rd. in Springfield early Sunday. MAP

According to Robertson County EMS assistant director Russell Gupton, “Around 4:20 am Robertson County EMS responded to a residence on Lahr Road in Springfield for a 22 year old male that had suffered a gunshot wound. He was found in stable/non-critical condition and was transported by ambulance to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for further treatment.”

The Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the call that went out as a shooting, or GSW (gun-shot-wound). When firefighters arrived, the victim had already been transported from the scene. There were two Robertson County Deputies inside the home who told firefighters that a detective was in route. “You could see bullet holes in the structure,” according to Captain James Parks with the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department.

Parks said it was his understanding that the victim was inside the house at the time of the shooting and was struck by a round that penetrated the home. “The house was shot up from the outside, I guess the bullets went through the wall and struck him while they were in the house,” Parks said.

Parks also said he first thought it may have been a hunting accident considering the rural nature of the home. “I’ve been doing this for a while now and you just don’t think about this happening in the country, this is like Detroit, big city stuff,” Park said.

Neighbors tell Smokey Barn News that around 4:am Sunday morning they heard what they first thought were fireworks. “A car pulled up in front of the house, it was just multiple  gunshots,  pop-pop-pop-pop. Somebody got shot, I don’t know how bad but somebody was injured.”

“It was a whole bunch of gunshots, I was asleep on my couch and then I got up to go to bed and there was a bunch of gunshots,” one neighbor said.
