Mold Forces Temporary Relocation Of White House Fire/EMS Personnel
WHITE HOUSE, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Personnel assigned to White House Fire Department Station 1 have been temporarily relocated after testing confirmed the presence of mold in the facility.
According to White House Fire Chief Rob Brewer, all fire and EMS personnel normally assigned to Station 1, located at 416 Highway 76, have been moved to Station 2 at 120 Business Park Drive while remediation efforts are completed.
“Recently, after some testing, it was discovered that there is mold present in our Station 1,” Brewer told Smokey Barn News. “Due to the health hazards associated with the mold, we had to move all fire and EMS personnel to our Station 2.”
Brewer said the move is temporary and that technicians are already working to address the issue. The building will remain out of service until the mold problem has been corrected and air quality testing confirms the facility is safe for personnel to return.
Officials indicated that response times may be slightly longer in some areas while crews operate from Station 2; however, emergency services remain fully operational.
When asked how the mold was discovered, Brewer said several individuals had voiced concerns, prompting testing of the facility.
The total number of personnel affected was not immediately available. As of this report, there have been no reports of illnesses or symptoms related to the mold.
According to Brewer, repairs and remediation are expected to take several weeks, after which Station 1 will undergo air-quality certification before personnel return to the facility.
