Motorcyclist Critical After I24 Crash Friday

ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A motorcyclist was critically injured in an I24 crash Friday morning.

The crash occurred near mile marker 16 around 9:16 am. The Robertson County Emergency Management Agency,  Robertson County EMS, the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol all responded to the crash.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 49-year-old TY Rideout of Henderson Kentucky was traveling east on Interstate 24  near the mile-marker 16 in Montgomery County driving a 2015 GMC Sierra as traffic was slowing. According to the THP,  Rideout improperly changed lanes causing Carl Garner of Lexington Kentucky, on a 2021 Harley Davidson Motorcycle to make contact with the right rear of Rideout’s vehicle.

According to officials, Garner (estimated to be in his 30’s) sustained critical injuries in the crash. Rideout has been charged with Failure to Exercise Due Care. Rideout was not injured in the crash and no other injuries were reported including an unnamed 53-year-old passenger riding with Garner.

According to the THP, drugs or alcohol were not factors in the crash.  According to Robertson County EMS, Garner was  flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. An update on his condition was not immediately available but we have learned that he sustained multiple injuries and was transported in critical condition.
