Off-Duty Deputy Lifeflighted “Critical” Following Motorcycle Crash Near Cross Plains

CROSS PLAINS TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A motorcyclist has been Lifeflighted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville following a crash on Cross Plains Rd Wednesday Evening.

According to officials,  the crash occurred on Cross Plains rd near Bethlehem Road around 7:10 PM LOCATION OF CRASH

According to Cross Plains Fire Chief Tommy Jackson, the rider left the roadway and struck a tree. He was critical at the time of transport, Jackson said. No other injuries were reported.

Smokey Barn News has confirmed that the rider is an off-duty corrections Deputy for the Robertson County Detention Facility in Springfield.

UPDATE: According to the THP’s preliminary report,  21-year-old Marshall Gillis of Mt Juliet Tennessee, riding a 1981, Harley Davidson, 1HD, was traveling south on Cross Plains Road when he failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the road and into a ditch. No other information about the crash has been released.

The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, the Cross Plains Fire Department, Robertson County EMS, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol all responded to the scene.
