Police: Stolen Plates, Vehicle Thefts Hot Trend For Unattended Warming Cars

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) –  On Monday, the above vehicle was spotted on Ben Dr. MAP and is believed to be a getaway car involved in a motor vehicle theft, according to Springfield Police.

A witness saw a white male subject exit the vehicle and allegedly steal a black Chevrolet Impala. After the Impala was taken the vehicles traveled in different directions.

The tag on the vehicle comes back to a blue Dodge Dart, however, it is not the tag that goes on the vehicle, police said.

Further investigation would reveal that the owner of the tag on the car pictured above had a different tag on his vehicle that had been stolen.

The year sticker that goes in the top right-hand corner of the license plate belonged to yet another stolen tag. All of these tag numbers come back to Dodge Darts.

WARNING: Please remember that these suspects are watching for people that are allowing their vehicles to warm up in the mornings and once they see this, they are stealing the cars.

Be careful if you are allowing your vehicle to warm up. If there is any information on this vehicle please contact Detective Chad Clinard with the Springfield Police Dept.
