Portland Firefighter Indicted In TBI Child Sex Assault Case
PORTLAND TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have obtained indictments for a Portland firefighter accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a child.
At the request of 18th District Attorney General Ray Whitley, TBI Agents began investigating David Wilber on March 3rd. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that on several occasions between August 2014 and August 2015, Wilber was the individual responsible for the sexual assault of a child.
On March 7th, the Sumner County Grand Jury returned indictments charging the 37-year-old Portland man with three counts of Sexual Battery by an Authority Figure. Today, authorities arrested him and booked him into the Sumner County Jail on $20,000 bond.
Wilber is the nephew of Ken Wilber who is the Mayor of Portland. Smokey Barn News reached out to the Portland city officials and they indicated that David Wilber is no longer with the Portland Fire Department.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
