RIDGETOP TENNESSEE: (Smokey BArn News) – A home in Ridgetop, one of the oldest homes in the city we’re told, is a total loss after a fire that started around 7 am.

When firefighters arrived at the home, located on Greer Rd., MAP the rear of the home was already engulfed in flames.

Firefighters from Ridgetop, Greenbrier, Springfield and the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department battled the blaze from just before 7 am to about 11:30 am.

Greer Rd between Virginia Ave and 257/Betts Rd was closed while firefighters battled the blaze.

The family made it out of the home safely but at least one person did suffer minor smoke inhalation, officials said.

No word on the cause of the fire that has left the home a total loss.

Two Firefighters did sustain “slight” injuries but were treated and released at the scene.

Officials tell Smokey Barn News that the home was one of the oldest in Ridgetop.

Sumner County Fire Buffs (Rehab 83) was also on scene. Rehab 83 (pictured left) is a newly formed organization that provides support, such as drinks, snacks, and shelter from the elements, which was well appreciated this morning.

Working alongside Rehab 83 was the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency. EMA Dir. R.L. Douglas and Deputy Director Chance Holmes assisted with an additional warming station, traffic control, and access to the American Red Cross for the family.
