Rollback Tow Truck Driver Leads Greenbrier PD on Cross-County Chase
GREENBRIER, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – On Sunday evening, Greenbrier Police received a call regarding a possible drunk driver allegedly operating a roll-back vehicle. Greenbrier Police quickly located the vehicle and initiated an enforcement stop, the first call coming into 911 at 4:26 PM.
Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Ian Zachary Hunter, officers allegedly observed signs of impairment. Shortly after the stop, Hunter allegedly fled the scene, leading police on a pursuit.
The chase ended in Davidson County, where Hunter ultimately surrendered. According to Detective Joseph Chelini with the Greenbrier Police Department, Officer Harris was part of the team that worked with Metro Nashville Police and the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) to bring Hunter into custody.
Upon further investigation, officers allegedly discovered powder substances in his possession. Authorities also determined that Hunter was a wanted suspect in Wilson County for alleged evading arrest and reckless driving, police said.
Hunter was first transported to NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield for DUI protocol before being booked into the Robertson County Detention Facility in Springfield on charges of felony evading, DUI (1st offense), possession of Schedule II (fentanyl), possession of Schedule VI, unlawful drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane. Hunter’s total bond amount has been set at $29,000.
This marks the second time in less than a month that Greenbrier PD engaged with a driver who failed to stop. In early January, Greenbrier officers spotted a stolen vehicle shortly after a BOLO was released. That suspect too led Greenbrier PD on a cross-county pursuit that ultimately ended with a foot chase after the suspect lost control of the vehicle. Greenbrier PD successfully conducted both pursuits without any injuries to citizens or significant property damage. FULL STORY
