Teen Suspect Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit Across Robertson County
GREENBRIER, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – A Nashville teen is in custody this morning after allegedly stealing a vehicle in the Greenbrier area and leading police on a cross-county pursuit that ended with his arrest.
The incident started when a BOLO was issued by the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office for a stolen vehicle off Distillery Rd outside Greenbrier city limits, the first call coming into 911 at 1:25 AM Friday morning. Following the BOLO, Officer Washington spotted the vehicle (described as a white GMC Sierra lifted pickup truck) at 1:34 AM as it exited Main Street in Greenbrier.
When Officer Washington attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver fled at a high rate of speed, reaching speeds of 100 mph, police said. The pursuit continued down the ridge on Hwy 41 to Interstate 65, where the vehicle headed northbound before exiting at Bethel Road.
At 1:45 am the driver lost control in a curve on Bethel Road, veering into a cornfield where the truck became stuck. The chase then turned into a foot pursuit, with officers from Millersville Police capturing the suspect, who was then handed over to Greenbrier Police.
According to Greenbrier Police Detective Joseph Chelini, the suspect, now identified as 18-year-old Noor Ahmed of Nashville, was not injured. Following his arrest, Ahmed was transported to the Robertson County Detention facility in Springfield.
Assisting agencies included the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office and Millersville Police and Greenbrier Police. Police added that the vehicle appeared to be in good shape.
Charges for Ahmed will include: Evading Arrest and reckless Driving. The County may have additional charges such as Auto Theft. Ahmed turned 18 on January 7. Total elapsed time from first call to apprehension, about 20 minutes.
