 Springfield Hit & Run Driver Takes Out Fire Hydrant-POSSIBLE WATER OUTAGE

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Officials tell Smokey Barn News that a portion of Springfield around Main Street and Lahr Rd could be without water service for several hours after a passing vehicle severed a fire hydrant.

The exact time of the accident is unknown but the first call came into 911 at 4:14 AM Sunday morning. LOCATION OF ACCIDENT

The water department is on the scene assessing the situation. Officials with the Springfield Fire Department told Smokey Barn News that the damage to the hydrant will affect a main water line that will need to be turned off during the repair operation. How many homes will be affected is still being determined.   

The type of vehicle that struck the hydrant or any kind of description was not available. Based on the appearance of debris at the scene, officials estimated that the vehicle was traveling North on Main street towards Springfield when it likely crossed the centerline, left the roadway, and impacted the fire hydrant causing it to rupture.
