Springfield Police Make Arrest In Wednesday Homicide
SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Just hours after calling the death of a Springfield man a homicide Springfield Police have a suspect in custody.
Around 11:30am Wednesday morning Springfield Police responded to a call about a possible gunshot victim slumped over in a vehicle on 21st Ave East near Woodland St. MAP
When police arrived they found a deceased black male, now identified as Demetrius Mack, 25, of Springfield, inside of a vehicle that had rolled to a stop up against a tree on 21st Ave. According to Springfield Police Chief David Thompson, investigators believe the victim was shot near by but not at the location the body was found.
Now Springfield Police allege that Cameron Boyd Age 18 of Springfield is the trigger man charging him with Criminal Homicide.
Boyd is currently being held at the Robertson County Detention Center without bond.
According to Police, when they arrived on the scene they found the car containing Mack (still running) with the front of the car up against a tree and it appeared to be in gear. Police say the windows were up with the doors locked.
Police forced open the car, and Robertson County EMS arrived to find Mack deceased with a bullet wound.
Ironically Boyd was just released from jail days ago. Back in January Boyd was wanted for escape and theft of a motor vehicle. He was arrested and booked into the Robertson County Detention Facility after a being spotted walking down the street in Springfield by an alert Detective. (FULL STORY)
On February 8, (just a week ago) Boyd was released from jail. Now Boyd is back behind bars facing murder charges.
