Springfield Students Earn National Honors at AACS Competition
SPRINGFELD, TENNESSEE: Smokey Barn News) – Students from South Haven Christian School competed in the 48th annual American Association of Christian Schools (AACS) National Competition, held at Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C., on April 14–16, 2026.
Approximately 1,900 students, along with their sponsors from 33 states, participated in the AACS National Competition, having captured top honors in their state contests. The students, representing 186 Christian high schools, competed in 80 categories in the five basic areas of Bible, music, art, and academics.
The Bible competition included Bible quiz teams, preaching, and teaching. Academic competition included academic testing, creative writing, and science fair. Music students challenged each other in solo and group competitions for both vocal and instrumental music. Speech contestants participated in such categories as debate, dramatic interpretation, original oratory, acting, and other group and individual categories. Art students displayed their pieces for the art contest.
The following places were captured by South Haven Christian School students:
• Nathan Foster, son of Mike and Bonnie Foster of Springfield, won first place in the Woodworking and Cabinetmaking competition. This is his third year in a row winning this national contest.
• Brenleigh Sutek, daughter of Brad and Maya Sutek of Pleasant View, won second place in the Home Economics academic testing.
Founded in 1986, the primary objective and purpose of South Haven Christian School is to train students in the way of life as presented in the Scriptures while giving them a quality education. It enrolls 370 students annually, grades K–12.
