Teen Charged In Fatal Rollover

ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A local teenager has been charged following a fatal rollover crash last Saturday in Robertson County, according to an affidavit obtained by Smokey Barn News. Original story

The crash occurred on Glen Raven Rd near Turnersville Rd around 1:30 am last Saturday morning. MAP

According to the affidavit, 19-year-old Logan Thibedeau of Whites Creek died at the scene. William Stuart of Plesant View (also 19) has been identified as the driver.

According to the responding Trooper with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Stuart admitted to driving at a “very excessive speed and running a stop sign.” just before the crash. According to the Trooper, Stuart “also admitted to drinking at least three beers prior to the crash.” The trooper noted that Stuart had a strong smell of alcohol and failed a field sobriety test.

Stuart was charged with vehicular homicide and transported to the Robertson County Detention Facility in Springfield. His bond was set at $150,000. Stuart spent four nights behind bars before making bail. He was released on October 2nd.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash but what we understand preliminarily is, the accident involved just one vehicle (a 1999 Ford Expedition) with as many as six occupants. Officials say that during the crash the vehicle rolled causing Logan Thibedeau to be ejected onto the roadway. The vehicle landed on its wheels in the middle of Turnersville Rd.

According to Assistant Chief Russell Gupton with Robertson County EMS, “all occupants found at the scene by our service refused treatment.”

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is the investigating agency. The THP has indicated that they will not be releasing any additional information about the crash, citing an ongoing investigation.

“We are working with Robertson County Assistant D.A. Jason White and his office. All we can confirm at this time is this crash is a single-vehicle fatal rollover that involves an ejection,” PIO Bill Miller THP
