They Saved His Life From Fire, Now The Home Ignites Again
SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Sometimes you just can’t get a break. Last September a William Darden of Springfield, who turned 90 in January, was miraculously saved by local first responders after they pulled him from his burning home. Now, just weeks before he was set to move back in, another fire engulfed the home.
The home is located on 17th Ave W near Cheatham St. The first call came into 911 at 3:59 pm. MAP
Fire investigators are looking for the cause of the fire which remains unknown at the moment. Springfield Fire Chief Jeff Glodoski told Smokey Barn News that in his experience, it’s not that uncommon for fires to start during construction. Thankfully no one was inside the home at the time of the fire.
Chief Glodoski says that the home sustained about 20 percent fire damage to the back of the home and the attic. Investigators will know more in the morning. It appears that the main part of the house is intact other than smoke damage.
Glodoski said, though the fire is under investigation, he does not believe the fire is suspicious.
Back on December 27, 2021, Smokey Barn News was delighted to report that the resident (William Darden) had recovered enough from the fire in September to be home for Christmas.
