THP Identifies Rider In Saturday’s Fatal I24 Motorcycle Crash

ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The Tennessee Highway Patrol is releasing more information on Saturday’s fatal I24 motorcycle crash that claimed one life.

The crash occurred at mile marker 27 on I24 West (between Joelton and Pleasant View) just after 10 pm. MAP The interstate was closed for several hours while the Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated the crash.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 57-year-old Sammie Ransom of Florida, riding a 2010 Honda GL 1800 motorcycle collided into the rear right of a 2021 Peterbilt, Tractor Trailer. According to the THP’s preliminary report obtained by Smokey Barn News,  Ransom was on the right shoulder, “improperly passing others” when the impact occurred. After impact, the motorcycle slid off the shoulder and into the grass on the right side of the interstate. Ransom did not survive the crash.
