THP Releases Names Following Fatal 431 Crash That Claimed Two

REPORT UPDATED

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The Tennessee Highway Patrol is releasing more information about a fatal two-vehicle head-on crash that claimed both drivers early Saturday morning in Springfield.

The crash occurred on Highway 431N near William Woodard Rd/Hwy 161 above Springfield at 4:19 am. The collision occurred very near Victory Freewill Baptist Church. MAP

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s preliminary report, 27-year-old Jana Kinslow of Cedar Hill was traveling south in a Chevrolet Tahoe heading towards 19-year-old Vicente Castro of Springfield who was driving north in a BMW 330i. The violent impact killed both drivers.  Jana and Vicente were both pronounced deceased at the scene.

UPDATE:  The THP’s initial report indicated that Kinslow’s vehicle crossed the center line causing the head-on crash, however, further examination of evidence at the scene has led investigators to believe that it was the BMW that crossed the center line causing the accident.

According to Sgt. Alex Campbell with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, as the roadway dried from earlier rain, new evidence began to emerge leading investigators to change their analysis of the crash.

The accident was first reported as a vehicle fire. When firefighters with North Robertson Fire & Rescue arrived, one vehicle was in the roadway on fire and the other was off on the side of the road, the two vehicles sitting about 20 feet apart.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol, North Robertson Fire & Rescue, Robertson County EMS, the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency, and the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.

The thoughts and prayers of the staff of Smokey Barn News will be with Jana and Vicente’s family’s as they face the days ahead.
