Springfield Man Dies In Fatal Motorcycle Crash On Tom Austin Hwy

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) –  Tom Austin Highway was closed at West County Farm Rd following a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a truck Monday afternoon. LOCATION OF CRASH

The first call came into 911 at 3:27 PM.  Both lanes of Tom Austin Highway leaving Springfield were closed for several hours and just one lane pushed out to the shoulder was allowing traffic to squeeze through into Springfield.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 38-year-old Travis Dowlen of Springfield TN lost his life in the crash.

UPDATE:

According to the preliminary report of the crash released by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 38-year-old Travis Dowlen of Springfield TN, riding a 2007 Suzuki GSX motorcycle, was traveling south on US 431 at a high rate of speed. At that same time, a 1998 Chevy Silverado was stopped at the intersection of W County Farm Road and US 431. As the Silverado initiated a left turn onto Hwy 431, Dowlen struck the Silverado head-on. Dowlen did not survive the impact. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

Robertson County EMS, the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department, the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency the Tennessee Highway Patrol, and the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.
