Two Special Veterans Honored By Coopertown Men’s Club

COOPERTOWN TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The Coopertown Men’s Club, took a short break during their annual Turkey Shoot fundraiser to honor American Veterans.

Two veterans were singled out for special honors. 87-year-old Army veteran Tom Gammons, that served in the 510 Tank Battalion and 87-year-old Don Hix, Navy veteran that served on the Destroyer USS Southerland DDR743.

The two honorees were presented a Tennessee State Flag that flew over our state capitol in their honor and adjoining certificate sign by Governor Bill Lee.

The Town of Coopertown honored them as well by declaring 11/11/19 as Tom Gammons and Don Hix day presenting the two with a plaque. Don Hix has been a member of the Coopertown Men’s Club since 1978. Tom Gammons has been a member of the Coopertown Men’s Club since 1994.
