UPDATE: Millersville Crash Claims One Life

MILLERSVILLE TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A single-vehicle crash on Highway 31W Tuesday has turned fatal, according to officials with the Millersville Police Department.

The crash occurred in the curve on Hwy 31 W just past Bethel Road around noon Tuesday. LOCATION OF CRASH According to the Millersville Fire Department, the driver was extremely critical at the time of transport. Highway 31W was closed for about an hour while the crash was investigated and the scene cleared.

According to Sergeant Curtis Scott with the Millersville Police Department, the driver, now identified as 66-year-old Eddie Long of Hendersonville passed away shortly after the crash.

“It is believed that he suffered a medical episode causing his vehicle to run off the roadway on the right crashing into the rock wall. The vehicle then bounced back out onto the roadway and slid perpendicular to the roadway,” Scott said.  “There is no reason to believe that drugs and or alcohol were involved in the crash.”

The Millersville Fire Department, the Millersville Police Department, and Sumner County EMS all responded to the scene.
