White House Man With Body Armor And Knives Threatens Police

WHITE HOUSE TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A White House man is behind bars this evening after police say he pulled up his shirt to show officers he was wearing a bullet-proof-vest and began threatening them with a knife.

The incident occurred on Wilkinson Ln in front of Woodall Elementary just after 3pm. MAP Fortunately the school had released early today so no students were at the school when the incident took place.

According to White House Police Chief Pat Brady, officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving complaints about a man jumping in front of moving vehicles near Woodall Elementary.

Chief Brady told Smokey Barn News that when the first officer arrived the man, now identified as Brian Scott Henderson, 48, of White House, turned towards him, lifted his shirt to reveal he was wearing a bullet proof vest, and pulled out a knife. Brady said Henderson then began threatening the officer with the knife, telling the officer he was going to have to shoot him or he was going to come after him.

The officer did a great job talking the man down, Brady said. “The subject initially dropped the knife and began to walk away,” Brady said.

As other officers arrived the Henderson turned back toward the officer and pulled out a second knife and began threatening the officers again, Brady said.

Again officers were able to talk the Henderson down and he dropped the second knife. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Chief Brady said that based on statements made by the man, police went to his home and confirmed that everything was OK at that location.

Henderson will be facing charges of Felony Aggravated Assault, Vandalism (for damage to a patrol car) Public Intoxication and Unlawful use of body armor.

Henderson was transported to the Robertson County detention facility in Springfield.
