Assist 17 Children This Christmas Season

WHITE HOUSE TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – On December 9th, the White House Police and Fire Department conducted their 4th annual “Shop with a Cop and Firefighter” program.

“We were able to assist 17 children this season. This program sponsors children from disadvantaged families to provide Christmas gifts for the children.”

The children are partnered with a Police Officer or Firefighter and allowed to shop at Walmart for Christmas presents for themselves and family members.

For many of the children, this event will be the only Christmas gifts they receive.

The program is sponsored by the City of White House Rotary Club who holds an annual golf tournament to help the event and this year received a $1500.00 grant for the program. The City was able to raise approximately $2000.00 in donations by holding a bowling tournament at the Family Fun Center in Hendersonville.

The White House Police & Fire Depts. would like to recognize the White House Rotary Club, Walmart, and Subway for their donations and work that they put towards the event to make it successful. These three entities have assisted with this program since it began and have been amazing to work with.

A special thank you this year is to be given to Craig Johnson’s Construction Company for their generous donation of $1000.00 given at the bowling tournament to assist these children. This program does not exist without the generous donations of our local businesses and citizens.

Donations for this program can be given at any time of the year at the Farmers Bank. Any person or business that makes a donation can make the deposit under the Rotary Club and mention that it is for the Shop with a Cop and Firefighter Program.

If anyone is interested in being a part of sponsoring any future fundraisers for this program or would like to help at the event, please contact Detective Sergeant Daniel Hunter at the White House Police Department at 615-672-4903.
