Woman In Custody Following Springfield Robbery Attempt
SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – At 5:35 pm Friday evening a woman entered the Check-Into-Cash in Springfield, told the clerk she had a gun and demanded money. By midnight Springfield Detectives had a suspect in custody.
Springfield Police say the suspect, now identified as Shayna Allen, 22, of Hendersonville, never displayed a weapon during the robbery attempt but told the clerk she had a gun.
Police say the woman asked for the money in the drawer and when the employee showed her that the drawer was empty she turned and left.
The minute the woman first approached the business she was being recorded by several security cameras and one of the cameras captured her face which was not disguised.
Detective Bogle with the Springfield Police Department had just interviewed Allen Thursday as part of an unrelated investigation. Bogle told Smokey Barn News that after viewing security footage, he and another detective recognized Allen immediately.
Police said that after confronting Allen with the video and photographic evidence she confessed to the crime.
Allen was charged with Attempted Aggravated Robbery and booked into the Robertson County Detention Facility in Springfield on a $100,000 bond.
This is the second time this same branch of Check-Into-Cash has had to deal with a robbery in the last two months. Back on December 7, again around 5pm, a man armed with a handgun calmly walked into this same store and very politely asked for all the money in the cash drawer. See video surveillance below of that robbery.
Springfield Police were also able to make an arrest in the December 7th case. FULL STORY
