10 Acres of Tobacco Lost in Adams Barn Fire Overnight
ADAMS, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A tobacco barn ignited overnight in Adams, triggering a multi-agency response; the blaze ultimately destroyed the barn, taking with it months of hard work.
The barn is located in the 4400 block of Goodman Road in Adams, with the first call coming into 911 at 11:20 PM. [MAP] The Adams Fire Department, with the aid of North Robertson Fire and Rescue, made every effort to save the barn that was already fully involved when they arrived.
Though firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent structures, the barn itself and the tobacco inside were a total loss. According to Adams Fire Chief Donovan Tucker, the firing process in the barn was started just a few hours before the barn ignited. Chief Tucker told Smokey Barn News that approximately 10 acres of tobacco were lost in the fire.
The cause of the fire has not been officially determined, but Chief Tucker noted that gusty winds in the area may have played a role in the incident.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. [PHOTOS: Submitted.]
