UPDATE: Electric-Vehicle lands in creek on Lahr Rd in Springfield
Earlier this evening, a single-electric vehicle crash occurred on Lahr Rd near the bridge. The first call came in at 6:30 PM. The electric vehicle went down the embankment beside the bridge, striking it but causing only minor damage—nothing significant enough to shut down or close the road. The highway department is on scene evaluating the bridge to ensure it remains safe for traffic.
The vehicle’s recovery was challenging due to the steep drop-off, but it has now been removed. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no transports were needed. EMS, EMA, PVVFD, and THP coordinated the efforts. Officials have opened the road. Powered by: Springfield Auto
Why did we mention that the vehicle was electric?
Electric vehicles (EVs) operate using electric power, and their batteries and electronic components can pose unique hazards when exposed to water. In this case, with the right front corner of the car submerged, first responders need to be aware of the potential dangers associated with the vehicle’s electrical system. Water can create short circuits or other complications, making it critical for emergency personnel to approach the situation with caution.
