Former Ridgetop Mayor Clayton Bollinger Found Dead at His Home
RIDGETOP, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – Former Ridgetop Mayor Herbert “Clayton” Bollinger, 55, was found dead at his home in Goodlettsville Wednesday afternoon. Bollinger was discovered by a friend at his residence located in the 1400 block of Betts Road.
Officials tell Smokey Barn News that Bollinger had not been discovered for some time, so positive identification was completed by the medical examiner’s office. According to the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, no foul play is suspected. His remains were released today and are now in the care of Austin & Bell Funeral Home, which will be handling arrangements. As soon as service or obituary information becomes available, it will be added to this report.
Bollinger was elected Mayor of Ridgetop in 2020. He later voluntarily resigned in January of 2022 following his arrest on domestic-related charges in December 2021. At the time, the Ridgetop Board of Mayor and Aldermen accepted his resignation, and then, Vice Mayor Tim Shaw was sworn in as mayor. MORE
Bollinger was a retired United States Marine Corps Major with 22½ years of service, both enlisted and as an officer. According to his LinkedIn profile, following his military career, he worked as an Executive/Close Protection Agent at Atlas Aegis Risk Management. He also instructed personal defense, law enforcement defensive tactics, tactical close combat, and firearms. His affiliations included Agape Tactical, the Israeli Krav Maga Association, and the United States Judo Association. He was a certified dual-purpose K-9 handler through Vohne Liche Kennels.
