Pastor Thurman “T.L.” Page
October 19, 1934 ~ July 14, 2025
90 Years Old

Thurman Lonas “T.L.” Page, of Springfield, passed away on July 14th at NorthCrest Medical Center at the age of 90 and entered into the arms of his loving Savior.

He is preceded in death by parents Robert Lee and Esther (Seagraves) Page, sisters Gladys Selby, and Thelma Fultz, as well as two sisters and one brother who died in infancy. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Agnes (Lewis) Page, children Tracey (David) Jenkins, Nicholas Page, and Allison (Chris) Simpkins, grandchildren Lesley (Nathan) Colvin of Georgetown, IL, and Ashley Jenkins, and great-grandchildren Ruby, Gage, and Evie.

Thurman was born on October 19th, 1934, in Cumberland County, Tennessee. After losing his father at an early age, he and his mother moved to Indiana, where he worked until he joined the US Navy. One of his favorite memories in his military service was the privilege to work on the nation’s first nuclear submarine.

After serving, he returned to his family and resumed work at Container Corporation of America. He began attending church and soon surrendered his life to Christ. Shortly thereafter, and with strong conviction, he answered the call to preach God’s Word. In 1965, he married Agnes (Lewis) Page, and a year later, they welcomed their daughter Tracey. He served as a bivocational pastor for three years in Indiana while working for General Motors. Two more children were welcomed into the home. Convinced he needed further studies in theology, he moved his family to Nashville and attended Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville (now Welch College in Gallatin) where he graduated with supporting knowledge that would aid him in pastoring and leading others to Christ.

After graduation, he was called to pastor in Indianapolis, Indiana, and served there faithfully for eight years. In 1986 he brought his family to Springfield to be nearer to aging family members. While working for the State of Tennessee, he continued his education and graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University.

In January 1995, along with a small number of families, he established Victory Free Will Baptist Church in Springfield. God blessed the efforts as he and the small congregation worked to add more members to the church family and build a place of worship. He was their pastor until illness resulted in his retirement in 2024 at the age of 89.

Thurman especially loved studying the Bible and preparing lessons and sermons. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, traveling, reading, talking with friends and family, and watching old westerns. He loved his wife and family dearly, and he was a faithful servant to Christ. His favorite verse was John 8:32—”And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 10:00 AM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Fawbush officiating. Burial will be held at 2:30 PM in Smith Chapel Cemetery in Pleasant Hill near Sparta. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4 until 8 PM and Saturday from 9 AM until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Victory Free Will Baptist Scholarship Fund at Welch College established in honor of Pastor and Mrs. Page or to Victory Free Will Baptist Church, Springfield, TN.
